  1. My husband and I are scheduled for the Western Caribbean cruise onboard the Caribbean Princess on Nov. 16. We are booked in a suite, D736 (aft). I will try to take pics as there haven’t been many that I can find on this forum. We are leaving out of the new port in Houston. Was wondering if anyone had any information on what there is to do at the pier as we arrive very early at IAH. Unfortunately Princess doesn’t have much info about the transfer from the airport other than “look for the Princess guides at baggage claim”. So we will be waiting at the airport for 6 hours down in baggage claim. Taxis cost $100-125 and I guess we would rather wait than pay that and then wait at the Bay Cruise Port with nothing to do. We don’t want to lug our luggage around town and hope we can embark as early as possible. I will let everyone know what we encounter and what this new port is like for Princess as Princess has no idea. We are also scheduled for 6:00 pm Traditional Dinner. I will let you know how that works out for us as I have heard various reviews on Traditional vs. Anytime dining.

  2. Thanks 1CruiserGuy. Sounds like you know what you are talking about. Last time we cruised out of Ft. Lauderdale it was somewhat of a cattle call with chairs (and nothing else there) for maybe half the folks and somewhat chaotic. Although once the role call started it went pretty smooth. I think you have it right to take the Princess transfer and way cheaper. I’m sure IAH has way more to keep us occupied than the port so we will just have to be patient. It was just frustrating that Princess doesn’t have specifics about their transfers albeit a new port. I think we are the second cruising with Princess out of this port.

  3. We are sailing out of Bayport Terminal in November on Princess and am disappointed by the lack of information from Princess as well as Bayport’s website as to facilities and transportation available.

We bought the Princess transfers to and from the airport(s) (IAH arrival and Hobby departure) for $96 for two people. While that is a good price, Princess gives varying information about the transfers. We arrive before 6:00 a.m. the morning of the cruise but Princess cannot give me a straight answer about when the transfer takes place. One rep told me 11:30 a.m. and the next rep told me 9:00-9:30. I am sure they are waiting for more people to purchase the transfers and waiting to acquire flight info but I don’t want to wait all day at the airport for flight delays or varying flights coming in in the afternoon. Princess website quotes a price of $100-125 for taxi fare from IAH. I just don’t know if it is worth it if there is nothing to do at the cruise port.

Does anyone know what is available at the port such as restaurants or shops? We do not want to take extra transportation around town or walk miles from the port to find something to eat. Is the port similar to an airport with some amenities or is it just a chair and chaos. We are not into taking a tour beforehand. This is our first time with a full suite and are anxious to board. My husband also has trouble walking so walking very far to find something at the pier is out of the question. Any suggestions?
