Our appointment at Walgreens is at 9:45 tomorrow and just got a call that the “Rapid Antigen Test (BinaxNOW)” that get results in 1 hour are no longer available.  They switch us to the “Rapid Diagnostic Test (ID NOW)” that takes 24 hours to get results.  They had a click to check the lab and turn around times and it show 12 hours on some days and 72 hours on other days.  Lucky that we have a Plan B that has proctored test that we can take on the way down.  We are driving and two day drive time and I wish I could found out before we leave.

We have had the Walgreens ID Now test done several times and results have always been back in no more than 2 hours.  Good luck to you!

Kind of an odd question, but those of you who have had a rapid test for cruising from CVS/Walgreens etc... how detailed are the results they give you?

I was planning on getting our tests done at my employer (small doctors office) and they process their own rapid tests. The letter they give patients is just on letterhead and basically says "(pt name) received a negative antigen COVID test today" and the date (similar to a note your doctor would write you to miss work). It isn't as official looking as the Lab result which you receive for a PCR test. Wondering if this will fly or if the results I would get at CVS would look more "official". Or how closely they even look at your documentation when you check in? If anyone can provide any feedback on this I'd appreciate it!

Just tested at Walgreens and received a downloadable lab report that includes ALL info that Carnival has requested

Sailing at the end of next week and just checked the weather.  Looks like it's going to be very windy

for our days in Aruba and Curacao.  Is this normal and does this mean there is a chance we

might not be able to dock in those places?  Weather shows - 20 mph or so winds.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't get to dock considering this is an 8 day cruise and we already

only have 3 ports.  I know we can't control Mother Nature and I'm not going to go kicking and

screaming to Guest Services demanding compensation if we can't - just keeping my fingers

crossed that this is normal for those ports.

    Thanks in advance!

It is always windy in Aruba and the past few weeks it has been more so than usual.  Just returned from 3 weeks in Aruba and all ships scheduled to dock there were able to dock with no issues.  Curacao should be no different.  ENJOY!!

  4. On a rainy day, please don't expect availability of free taxis in Hamburg.

I personally would make any prearrangement in such a case.

After recent reports from German travellers arriving in Hamburg with comparable big vessels, you better plan 3 hours minimum after scheduled arrival time; but, as earlier said; it is really not predictable!

You can call in taxi in Hamburg www.taxi211211.de; I don't know, whether they always can handle English, or you make an online reservation at a fixed price and time at www.bettertaxi.com, switch to 'English' at top right corner of that page.

    Thank you for this information!

We would like to make an online reservation but due to unpredictable time for pickup, unsure what to do:(

  5. It's absolutely not predictable! So many things can happen. Low tide is predicted to be at ~ 4am, high tide at ~ 9am; thus, I'm wondering about an arrival time of 5am for such a big vessel? Immigration to Schengen is still not like to USA or UK, but a train at around 9am is really ambitious. No time for a last breakfast on board?

We have 4 people disembarking the Regal Princess on April 17th (Easter Monday) and wold like to know if taxis will be readily available at the port and if any would be minivans to hold all 4 of us and our luggage?

Would it be better to prearrange some sort of transportation service......if so, suggestions of what companies could accomodate us?

Also, any idea what time would be best to be picked up as the entire ship will need to go thru EU Immigration that morning.

    Appreciate all suggestions and comments!

  6. DH and I just took our 24th Carnival cruise and I understand our 25th cruise will be one of the Milestones with the 25% OBC. Will we each receive a Milestone letter, or just one as a couple? If we each receive a letter, then can I assume we have two cruises I can book to get the 25% OBC on both? One for my letter and one for his letter?

Only AFTER you complete #25 cruise will you receive an individual letter offering the 25% OBC on a cruise booked within the next 18 months from date on letter.

The actual 25th cruise gets you a While sail and sign card that says Milestone at the bottom.

After that cruise, your card will return to the color/level you are at that point.

Just booked my cruise that gets me the 25% OBC and gets me to Diamond! Hubby jealous as he is several days short of diamond but this will be his 25th :)

  7. Thanks, We will be driving down from the Orlando area and then parking at the port. We never left from FTL, I can't wait to try it out

You might want to check out Park and Go for cruise parking.

About half the price of parking at the port itself , (if you pre pay)valet parking lot, great shuttle service with plenty of shuttles, and only 5 minutes from the ship. On return, they drop you off right at your car.

Have used them MANY times and always had great service!

  8. You will both be fine. More people dress up than on any other ship I've been on since the 80's. But not everyone. I did see what to me is an inordinate number of tuxes, but I also saw others dressed as I was; Dockers type pants and a nice Hawaiian print shirt. The folks from Europe seemed to dress up more than Americans. My wife dressed much like what you describe for yourself. The dining room management seemed unconcerned and the waiters went on with the job! I did wear nice new shorts on a non formal night without problems, but my wife told me they were checking me out at the restaurant reception desk.............so, I went with long pants on the other nights.

Thanks to all for the info!

  9. Will be sailing on MSC Divina in December, first time with MSC but have sailed on many other ships.

Curious as to formal night dress code for both men and women.

Would hubby be all right wearing dress pants, long sleeve shirt and tie but no jacket?

Could I wear dressy slacks and sparkly top rather than a dress?

  10. We are seasoned Carnival Cruisers (will get diamond status with our Alaska Cruise) but always some place warm. Alaska was on my bucket list and we are headed there in May. I have heard that going to Alaska is a totally different experience than cruising the Caribbean. That the ship doesn't really matter it is all about the destination. However, obviously we love the ships! Some of my concerns and questions are: Will the ship be warm enough (we are up in age and don't deal well with cold)? Is there still evening entertainment: Is attire in the dinning room more casual? Those who have sailed to many different destinations , what are the differences?

We found when we cruised on the Carnival Spirit a few years ago that the ship seemed a bit cooler (probably because the air temp is cooler and especially on Lido deck where doors were opening frequently)........wore jeans and long sleeves all the time during the day.

There is still evening entertainment and we definitely felt the dining room was more casual.

On elegant nights men wore mostly dress pants, shirt and tie and ladies wore slacks and fancy tops. Other nights were slacks and even jeans.

Alaska is definitely a destination cruise.....enjoy every moment of the awesome scenery!

Be prepared for rain as well.

  11. ...Thanks for taking the time to post your review. Leaving for the Liberty in a few weeks. We will be sailing just in time for the new menus to take effect. Not sure how I feel about them... will go with an open mind and decide after if we like it or not. Thanks again for posting.

When exactly will the Liberty get the new menus?

  12. We have reservations but have some concerns. When we read the time schedule for shuttle to the port the time says 12:00 – 3:00. Do they wait till 12:00 before they start shuttling people to the port? I would think that they would carry people to and from the port so that they can be moving people at the same time.

We have purchased faster to the fun and want to get on the ship as soon as we can. I have read that they start boarding the ship around 11:00am.

Any feedback will be appreciated. Is this a good lot to use?

We are scheduled for May 25th 2013 on the Liberty.

Use Premier Parking..........NOT the one with "Venture" added (too many negative reviews)

Have used Premier Parking and they have a nice garage and quick reliable transportation to and from the port......we arrived at the garage at about 10:30 ish and were take right to the port.

  13. None of the beach area hotels have shuttles. Here are your best choices close to what you want, from closest to furthest:

    Marriott Beach Place

    Ritz Carlton

    Courtyard

    Westin

    W

    Bahia Mar

    Cocobelle

These are a bit far, but walkable if you are fit:

    Sheraton

    Atlantic

    Marriott Harbor Beach

    This is REALLY helpful info

    Appreciate your reply!

  14. Will be on the Splendor in late FEb 2011 and will fly into Orange County on the evening before sailing and staying at a nearby hotel.

Any ideas on the best way(s) to get from the hotel or airport to Port of Long Beach

and back to the airport after the cruise ends?
