  1. Next time you speak with your Celebrity Management contact advise that person Celebrity needs to fix the problem where the web site says maximum of two evening chic nights on cruises regardless of length while some ships are holding three evening chic nights.
15 night cruises were still on 3 nights formal/dress up/chic nights in October on Celebrity Silhouette. Many people still enjoy getting dressed up. Others feel they want to relax while on a cruise and not bother. I was a little surprised that Celebrity lowered their dress code while RCI still maintained the traditional formal nights. For 2018 we have booked exclusively with RCI because they offer more formal nights.

  2. Can someone please advise what types of shuttle services are available as opposed to using cruise line transfer. What is the advantage of using Princess transfer
Cruise arranged shuttle between airport and seaport, for four people can be upwards of $200. Taxi is ready when you are and costs under $30. You should do what makes you comfortable, but most alternative transport is quick, cheap, and convenient. It's not a long ride either.

  3. Attending will save you and your fellow passengers more time than you think unless you are too special.

Yes. They do have a brig.

Yes. They have made side trips to drop off those passengers who underestimated the ship masters authority.

Last time was two cruises ago. Many of the passengers were on deck at one in the morning to see us make a 20 minute pit stop in the Azores.

Two medical emergency passengers left in waiting ambulances.

And two shoplifters were left to their own resources to make their own way home.

    Relax. Enjoy your vacation.

  4. I understand you have lost that caribbean feeling. So my advice to you is (cue Stephen Stills,) If you can't be, on the cruise you love, then love the cruise you're on.
Cruising, ships, ports, cruisers ... All changed greatly over the past 25 years. Mostly for the better, except for the internet. I'd really like to try an electronic device free cruise.

Other than that, your Stephen Sills advice is spot-on. Even our worst cruises had some great highlights. Make it work for you. That's why sooo many people are vocal about their adventures. Sharing the exciting pleasures of the seas.

  5. We will be in Alaska next June on the Millie. I'm considering buying the internet package since it is on sale and we have a healthy obc. Our last trip on the Summit the internet sucked. Last year on RCCL we had the internet package and it was fantastic. Mainly we need it for DH to be in contact with work and for DS to watch you tube videos. Since we will be in the US we can rely on our phones while in port and can probably survive the 2 sea days without internet. So I'm really only interested if the internet is high speed enough for videos. TIA.
Really. Internet is more interesting than being on a fabulous ship vacation. So sad.

To answer your question' date=' internet varies from ship to ship, country to country, and cloud to cloud (the ones in the sky that make rain). It's an OTA signal, not cable or fiber reception. We both get a free day, or 90 minutes or total use for free. Depends if we are on Celebrity or RCI. The 180 total minutes works out better, for us, as it provides daily time to connect by text, voice, email, video or Facebook. While we are on vacation, we avoid the outside world so relaxation is maximized. [emoji57'] sounds like you should go for a package, for your best value. Or unlimited if offered. But do try to enjoy a disconnected holiday while you can.

    Have a fantastic time cruising.

  6. Link all reservations together in they aren't already. Request to be moved to traditional dining. Usually when a group is linked, it's easy to get the traditional dining. They made a table for the 12 of us out of plywood to accommodate us all.

Having your cruise reservations linked is very good advice. It makes it so much easier for the dining room staff to meet your needs. Do it before you sail, then make the dining room your first stop on board while you wait for your luggage to find you. Don't know if it helps, but our table rule ... nobody sits in the same seat every night. Move around the table for a different view, as well as a new conversation each night.

    Enjoy!

  7. On our last three cruises on Freedom we saw guess in both the Diamond Lounge and also the concierge lounge leave with drinks when we were there . Also checked ID's in Concierge lounge on last two and had several asked to leave as entered with suite guest who were not Diamond plus, pinnacle or in a suite. Bob & Nancy
Checking ID when entering has been the norm for as long as I can remember. And no "guests" of members, as well.

  8. Same experience on RCI and Celebrity. "Rules" are guidelines. Neither brand shows much interest in offending customers, especially loyal ones. Enjoy your low-level drinks where you are, and take a glass of wine along to the dining room. NCL was also casual about enforcement.

    Low-level = pre-meal. (Autocorrect did it. [emoji57] )

  9. Our experience has been that they don't much care if you take a drink out on your way to dinner.
