  1. Walk across the street from cruise port to bus depot. They stop along the way.

Ask anybody on bus where beach is.

    You can get off anywhere.

Coming back, go to curb where you see a bus stop (same place you were dropped off). Wait for bus or small van.

Ask if small van has room. If so, hop on. That is a local’s bus and cheaper than the big bus. If they have room, they’ll let you on. Make sure totell them youare going to cruise ship, just in case.

That was the end of the line anyway.

Problem was, the busses were about 35-45mins apart from depot to beaches. You will hit eagle beach within 10 mins and palm within 15-20 morning mins. We usually just follow the crowd.

  2. National, Alamo, Thrifty and Enterprise offer free shuttles between their MIA airport location and POM.

Avis, Hertz and others have downtown locations close to POM - about a $12 cab ride (under $10 in Uber) I fthey do not shuttle or you do not want to wait.

    Good luck! :)

Does the shuttle go both ways? If we are picking up a car post cruise at MIA, can we pick it up at POM?

  3. Hi All,

We have printed out the bus schedule for the Vista cruise port to Arashi Beach or Boca Catalina. It shows pick up O'stad- Marriott or Malmok, and different times to Arash/Boca.

We have read "it's easy, you can't miss it, etc." but that's worrisome for a planner like me.

Can someone give step by step instructions on how to catch the bus to AND from the beach?

    THANK YOU!!!

  4. Has anyone ever tried to bring on one of those smallish pup tents that they make for sitting on sidelines at kids soccer games? I have one and it’s a bit too long to fit into a large piece of luggage, but could probably be brought in its carry case as a carry on.

I actually like sitting in the sun and don’t mind laying on a sandy towel, but it could be nice to have the tent if it’s not a big hassle, especially as a place to keep cameras and stuff out of the sun.

I’ve always wondered if it’s OK to travel

With one of those, too! They fold up super compact and they’re light to carry!

  5. Debating cruising Horizon in June.

    Can sail Vista same price.

A little worried about new ship hiccups with Horizon, even though she will have so many new features, compared to Vista.

Itineraries aren’t a game changer, nor is port.

    Thoughts?

  6. We are doing it. Booked a room at the Comfort Inn and Suites there to get four passes. Is it worth it? That depends. Financially it's not a smart move which is why we spent about $40 on a roundtrip taxi ride to Cable Beach instead last year. But we're trying it this year just to see what it's like. And strategizing on how to best use our time with the expectation it will be hectic and there will be lines. We know people who have spent a week there and so this way we can try it out and see if we ever want do to that instead of a cruise.

How did the Comfort Suites work out for you?

  7. Hi!

So I know the Victory is undergoing step by step renovations, from what I've read.

They're listed for Dry Dock in January 2018.

I presume the room remodels will be completed then?

Anyone know if she's getting Guys and BI?

Thanks! Looking for April 2018. (Which of course I'll do all this research and Carnival will switch the ship once we decide LOL)

  8. So Seattle isn't slated to get staggered check in until May 8.

    We cruise July 11.

    We are paid in full.

NO Staggered Check in Option available.

Called today to ask about check in times, and she basically read me the same information available on CCL's website. She truly had no idea, then she suggested FTTF (which is currently Sold Out!)

I went to print Boarding Passes just to see the assigned time, and it said 1-3. Guessing that's the generic time.

Just wanted to update that I know nothing more than before. LOL

THose of you in the same "boat" did your check in time show up after that port officially implemented staggered check in?

It wouldn't matter so much but we arrive soooo early that morning. Oh well we can wait. :)

  9. I saw the same thing for the Magic, starting staggered check-in as of the end of January...went to check to see if I could select a time, and there is nothing there. On your online check-in page, supposedly it is supposed to be located on the left-hand side, where I can see Stateroom Preferences, Onboard Expenses, and Cruise Ticket Contract, but there is nothing about check-in time. Most likely the IT dept. hasn't enabled it yet for the ships just added to staggered check-in. I e-mailed my PVP, and she basically said the same. She indicated we "might" get an e-mail when it's available. I guess I'll just keep checking. We cruise in February.

    "Might"

    That must be comforting!

Hopefully everyone figures it out soon. Good luck and happy cruising!

  10. Hello!

I see that the Legend will be getting Staggered Check In in May... looking forward to trying it out!

We cruise in July, and I dont see a place where I can select a time. Is it just too early? I completed all my check in documents.

Just wondering how early one can typically reserve a spot.

  11. I'm also looking for opinions on the morning versus afternoon times for this excursion on the Legend in mid-July.

I got a reply from Carnival... they said there's only one time available and that's the 11:30. I'm

Sure it's just because we're not going until July, so maybe they haven't opened up the second time yet?

  12. Yes, it's done through email. They will reply with your confirmation. Then once you're on board, you'll be charged for it and you'll get your tickets in your state room. We really enjoyed it, it was certainly a nice excursion, neat to get up so close. I'm pretty sure I have a photo of the 3 of us in my trip report.

Great, thank you. I emailed them A couple days ago… Just waiting to hear back.

I will get on the computer and find your trip report! Thanks!
