  1. I was just on a cruise in June with an overnight in Le Havre and rented a car from the agency at the cruise port (Rentacar) for two nights. The employees speak English. The office is right in the cruise terminal. There are plenty of free parking spots right outside the cruise terminal, within the security gate. You show your cruise pass/card to the guards and they waive you through. I made my reservation via email (le_havre@rentacar.fr), and if you contact them, you can get rates, etc. I do recommend reserving a car in advance, as they have a limited supply, and only had one extra car the day we were in port (which went immediately, leaving several others disappointed). Also, if your time is limited, I recommend getting to the office early, as it is a small office with only 1 or 2 employees, and usually several people waiting to get there cars. I also believe that all the cars are manual transmission, in case that is an issue for you.

  2. Talked to the bartenders on the Reflection tonight (last night of our 11 day leaving 7/18)...they still don't know if they are going to Kusadasi on the next 10 day cruise leaving tomorrow. They said they will be notified in the morning.

  3. I remember reading on the boards that the Spanish ports tend to be more aggressive with the VAT, so maybe the rules are different out of Barcelona. You may want to check. As we are originating and ending in Civitavecchia, my understanding is that we are subject to the Italian VAT.

  4. You are correct. Just boarded the Reflection. We will be hit with a 22% Italian VAT as this is now an intra-EU cruise, but it does not apply to spa, bar and specialty restaurant services.

  6. We have used RIL several times in the past out for Rome, Naples and Florence. A few years ago, our family had a unique, unforgettable experience on a Orvieto/Civita Bagnoregio tour where our driver, Salvatore, took us to a sheep farm where we toured the farm and farmhouse, learned how cheese was made, and had an incredible lunch prepared by the farm owner himself. Our family still talks about how this tour was one of the greatest experiences we have ever shared together. We are returning to Rome this summer, and are scheduling more great tours through Jany. Has anyone else had an unforgettable experience with RIL that we should inquire about for our trip?
