It was Milford Sound NZ. Someone just came back from there.
-
A friend just came back and told me. Said it just happened. We'll wait and see.

Say it isn't so. Just heard that big ships have just recently been banned from entering Milford Sound because of environmental concerns. Does any one know if this is true? I was looking forward to this in Feb 2019 on Ovation of the Seas.:loudcry:

Take them on your carry on bag. We have them on the balcony at your time. The steward will give you an ice bucket. Remember to take a bottle opener if they have a cork.

When we did a Mediterranean cruise with HAL, we could purchase a large bottle if scotch or bucket of beer that would be in your room on boarding day.
Haven't seen anywhere that RCL does anything like that.

My wonderful neighbors dog-sit for me when I travel; I've brought back cigars, rum, coffee beans, a woven basket, a gorgeous scarf, a unique Christmas ornament, a picture frame (with a 'thank you' pic from my 7-yr old), and then other assorted silly things that the kid picked out that they probably immediately trashed lol.
I'd find out what their favorite drink was and get them a case of that, rather than a crappy gift they can't use IMHO.

Better you carry your valuables, medications and fragile items with you, than leave them for the porters, and complain if something goes missing or gets broken. Enjoy your cruise.

I figure I'll be up early anywaze to see when the ship pulls in.
Yes get up early and see something grand.:) Sailing into Venice and going past the great city to the dock is something you won't forget. Hopefully you will have some commentary as you do. We did on HAL.

Thanks everyone for your valuable info. I am now better informed . Appreciate your feed back. Might leave as normal I think.

Hi all. On a recent post I saw someone did self debarkation. I didn't know about this, even though we've had several cruises. Is it allowed on all cruises? I suppose you can pack late at night or in the morning, rather than the night before. I did one cruise where they had a formal night on the last night, but you had to leave your bags out early. On another cruise we all had to go to the theater in the morning, and wait till they called you so you could leave the ship and collect your bags. It was chaos. Thinking it's not a big deal to roll your bags off in the morning, when it suits your time to leave. Is their any protocol with customs that may be a hassle? Thanks for any input. Rob

We're leaving in a week and so we'll be doing online check in this weekend. I've read that there are luggage tags that we will need to print. Now this may be a silly question, but if we print them, they'll be on standard paper...which is obviously not very strong and thus, can rip very easily. Are we missing something? Or do we need some kind of plastic holder for them?
Also, is it true that when we do online check in, that we will have to wait a few days to receive the luggage tags for printing?
Thanks.
When you do your on line check in, there should be a place that says,
'print luggage tags'
We print ours on normal copy paper, then cut and fold them and then laminate them.
Cut them out individually and put a hole in them with a hole punch, then connect it with a small cable tie to the bag.
That is if you have a laminator. Enjoy your cruise.

Maybe booking policies are different in Australia, but here in US the requirement of prepayment with MTD was removed a while back.
Yes LM I take your point re different countries and policies.
-
You donot have to have gratuities prepaid for my time dining. This was changed about a year ago.
Not sure if that's right. I organized MTD a few weeks ago, and I had to pay gratuities in full to get it.

You get so used to the vibe of the ship. Every one looking after you. Feeding you. Entertaining you. Then you end the cruise and its time to get off or they'll carry you off, and back to reality.

We did a Celebrity Infinity cruise last year from San Fran to Alaska and every time your talked to a crew member, be it cabin, dining or crew the standard answer to ' How are you ? ' was always ' Excellent'. Like they have been instructed to say 1 word and keep moving. I gave up trying to be nice.:(
Yes I know they have stuff to do.

Some cruise lines like Royal confiscate your power boards now. So just check on that one.

11 pages of basically useless junk. If you brought even 1/10 of the stuff listed on these pages, you would have to go naked most of the time as there would be no room for any clothes. Also, you would be so far above your 50# limit that your baggage costs would be as much as your cruise costs.

When in Rome do as the Romans do. When on the Captains ship, use the Captains clock, or you maybe left on the dock.
