Thank you for this suggestion. I was wondering about a grocery store but did not know if there was one near to where the ship docks. We have a cruise line shuttle from the airport directly to the ship, so no opportunity for a side trip on the way.

Thank you for your information.

The cruise line is Viking.I don't need to exchange currency, just break a 1000nok bill into small bills or coins to use for tips. Bergen airport site mentions a coin roll dispenser...would that work for me?
-
In the Bergen airport, or near the ship, is there a bank or other place where I can "break" a large NOK bill for small more useable bills. We arrive on a Saturday about five in the afternoon.

Just an FYI the cruise begins in Bergen Norway and our flight lands about 4:30 in the afternoon.
This is our schedule also... July 20, Into the Midnight Sun.

I left my card in the slot while we were out of the room. When we returned it was gone. Later that day I had a call to come and get it from Customer Services, turned in by the guest next door. We assumed that the room stewards had used it in error.

When we went with Alla on the two day tour, lunch was included. One day a nice sit-down meal in a restaurant and the next day a box lunch provided by Alla.

While on-board we checked with the Explorer Desk to see if we could book an optional (paid) excursion immediately following an included excursion. There was only a short time between. The service rep told us there was space available and suggested that when we returned from the first excursion we should go directly to the bus for the second. If there was still space, the guide could write a ticket by hand and it would be added to our account later. The service rep said that if she booked us on the excursion and we missed it, she would not be able to give us a refund. This worked for us although it was was a fast run to the World Cafe to get a sandwich to go.

I find this Travelon purse the right size for carrying water bottle, umbrella, small camera and all the little things you want with you on a shore excursion. It has some different zippered pockets to keep all organized and secure.

Usually the room has one smaller and one larger robe. When you board, just ask your room steward for the sizes you need.

Although the cruise director announced at the port talks that the Explorer desk would have small Euro bills for tips, they never had any available when we asked.

Write to Viking if you are concerned, especially if it is the included tour that is sold out.

In addition to the spa treatments, the thermal area is available to all passengers without fee.

On our Bergen to Athens cruise last summer there were a number of couples that did not get their luggage. I think some did not have it for the entire cruise!
-
Yes, those tags are for Viking to use to get your luggage to your stateroom. Put them on your bags after you arrive. The red stickers are to put on your lapel to assist Viking staff to identify you. Viking staff are easy to spot because they wear red jackets.

The train on Barcelona the Baltics and Beyond was also delayed. They got back very late.
This is the one we were on!

I had written to Viking in advance to get an idea of the timing in Berlin because we were not sure what to plan. Here is what they said: "The tour starts at 7:00 a.m., and it will take around 3-3.5 hours to arrive in Berlin. Then you’ll meet with the local guide and will have 1.5 hour of panoramic drive. After that, you’ll be dropped off for your free time, which is about 4 hours. The drop off/pick up location is Gendarmenmarkt. You’ll be picked up from the same location for your transfer back to the ship." From that and additional information from the Explorer Desk we scheduled our tour to allow us an hour and a half for lunch. As it turned out, the train was delayed because of a mechanical issue, so we went directly to meet our rickshaw. Viking extended the departure time to match the delay and so we didn't miss out on our time in Berlin.

We used the company 3tx dreiradtaxi on the recommendation of another passenger. We had an open rickshaw with just the roof but it was okay on the chilly day with the lap blanket we were provided. We booked in advance online/email and had the meeting point at Gendarmenmarkt at the Viking drop off/pick up location. We told the driver/guide what we had seen on the bus and pretty much left it up to him to choose the sights. It was our first visit to Berlin.

The Viking included tour to Berlin from our Viking Sky cruise was a chartered train trip with a panoramic bus tour. During our free time, we had booked an electric rickshaw and very much enjoyed this private tour of the highlights.

Not sure about slippers, but your room steward will bring any size of robe you request.

On our recent Viking Sky trip (Baltic, Barcelona and Beyond), Viking had shuttle buses available in most ports.

I now see there is a Rema 1000 that is near the port and is open Sundays until nine. Thanks again for the suggestion.
