  1. I stayed at Red Roof Inn last February. It was very affordable, with free cruise parking and shuttle to the Port. We did have to take a taxi back to the hotel post cruise. The hotel is newly renovated and very clean. Parking was secure, well lit, and fenced in. I was very pleased.

  2. I used to work for Cocoa beach Shuttle. They have a large fleet of shuttles which constantly run back and forth, airport to beachside. There is a handful of drivers who have been there for years, but the turnover is pretty high. If you came in outside of regular hour (7am-8pm) , they have only one or two drivers. The owner is stark raving mad! He screams over the radio at drivers while customers in vehicle. He made me cringe! Needless to say, I didn't stay too long.

  3. I am a radiography student doing my internship in a hospital near a busy FL port. I see passengers come in the ER off the ships with all kinds of injuries. Some need surgeries that can't wait. So the passenger and family must debarked and forfeit the remainder of their cruise. It's sad to see the disappointment of dreams broken because there was no travel insurance.

I for one will always buy travel insurance!

  4. Don't say you weren't warned. You could not pay me to stay here.

With all due respect. I find that some people have such strong opinions, that they get snippy if you don't do what they say. Blue herons, all I have from you is 'don't do it', ' go somewhere else'. I haven't seen any explanation why. Isn't that what these boards are about? A place to come and get a little helpful advise from people who have been there? I'm not trying to make an argument. I have been researching all this for some time. I feel i have made an educated and informed decision. I did check many sites for reviews, and they really werent all that bad. I am not afraid to stay at a less than 5 star establishment. It really doesn't seem there are any real good parking options in Miami. I drive a 10 year old vehicle. Not really worried about damage! I'm not driving a Lexus. It will cost me more to drive to Miami, park, and stay for one night than the whole cruise will cost. So I am trying to find a deal. Perhaps I should have qualified my inquiry in advance so you would know from where I am coming?

  5. Thanks for your answer camper49. I tried LaQuinta for my date, but they had no availability. I called and spoke with someone at Red Roof Inn about long term parking. He said it is gated and there is security. I have never had a problem with the brand, and will give it a try again. I booked through stay123 , which was $124 for one night and up to 14 days parking, with shuttle to port. When I checked directly with Red Roof Inn, the rate was $159 for the same. I will be sure to leave my review after our trip!

  6. People dye their hair lime green, crazy body piercings and covered in tattoos, dress in heavy goth garb. They are all expressing their individuality. They expect people to look and whisper. If you want to wear the headpiece, and you and your hubby like it, then go ahead and do it! We all have a signature to express our personality. Don't worry about what others will say. Have fun! You are on vacation and will probably never see most of those people again anyway!

  7. Gary,

    From where are you traveling?

We're in the Ocala area, about 5 hours north of Miami. There used to be "Cruise Connection" buses that ran from The Villages to each Florida cruise port including Miami. That ceased last year (I think) but there is some rumor that another company will establish a new route.

I am in Cocoa Beach area, and will be sailing out of Miami in Feb. on NCL Epic. I found on their website a bus that runs Jacksonville to POM. I am considering this as an option, picking up the bus in Melbourne for $50.

  8. I have been reading through these posts also stumped by the POM parking options. I went on global airport parking dot com, and entered my dates, and this is the response I got:

    How It Works

Traveling can be stressful but with a guaranteed reservation you don’t have to worry about where to park.

I fully expected to get info on Premiers 2nd ave. parking garage. Is this something new? It sounds like a Priceline type of deal. But it worries me that I may be assigned a not so good parking area.
