We were on the AOS in Feb 2014. The staff, with a few exceptions, were very unhappy, sullen, and in some cases just plain rude. Esp out on the pool deck (we had to about trip them to get them to stop and take our order for a drink). Our dinner staff was very good and cheerful in the main dining. One day at lunch I was lucky enough to witness a fellow in the windjammer getting chastised quite loudly for not cutting the meat correctly... Was it enough to ruin the cruise? no, but it definitely was enough to put a tarnish on an otherwise nice vacation. I have to deal with rude unhappy people at work every day, I don't want to have to deal with them on vacation! Hopefully after the refit, the AOS got some different management that perked up the employees.

I agree with the crew evaluation and condition of the ship. We were on the ship Feb 9 right before you and the bar staff around the pool were horribly unfriendly and hard to even find one most times. Our waiter in the main dining was great though, and a few other exceptions. Very unusual experience with unhappy crew in all my cruises with RCCL, hopefully the dry dock with boost something or they change whoever is the manger on that ship!

No free style machines on the ship yet, we were in room 8200 and it was in ok shape, furniture and such were in need of an upgrade that is for sure. Still had old tv, etc.

Do you know if they do it on the day of their bday or the first day of cruise?

I have a friend coming along on their first cruise and its his 50th bday while on the cruise... He doesnt' want any fuss or anything, but any ideas for anything I can do to celebrate? They will be getting the drink package so a bottle of wine for the room seems silly.. :) Any other ideas? I am kinda stumped!
