  1. I posted some months ago about snorkeling in Cozumel and someone had given a site to a company that they really enjoyed working with. I can't find it now and I'd like to get a few more opinions. We really want an amazing snorkeling experience. Does anyone have any companies that they have worked with and know that they are safe, fun, and reputable?

  2. I love this, and I agree about the black/white version. I'm wondering what fabric you will use for the drape in the back? Satin, perhaps, if you want a draping effect. But, it you want it to "float" behind you, then I suggest chiffon. You can "cheat" and buy one of these, because if you use a single layer of chiffon for the maximum "float", then hemming the edges will be extremely tedious. I have this in white, and it's almost 6 feet long:

That is an amazing suggestion! Thank you! Dang youre good. I have a surger too, is chiffon difficult to surge? I've never done that type of fabric. I would likely just do a rolled edge.

  3. I made that exact dress in a dark eggplant color and I mad the white in the back of white sequined material and made them a little longer so that they were the same length as the dress. I will see if I can find a picture of the dress and post it. And yes like the other poster said the bodice does run larger.

    I'd love to see it!

Its probably good the bodice runs a little big. Usually my problem is that the waist fits but not the bust. :/ thanks for letting me know!

  4. That's lovely! If you go to patternreview.com and search on this pattern you can get some helpful information. It seems the sizing is a bit large, especially in the bodice. Still.....I think it's beautiful and the version you like is my favorite.

Thank you! I had no idea that site eXisted!

  5. I swear by Ross Dress for Less. Long elegant sparkly evening dresses $29.99.....shorter cocktail dresses as low as $9.99.....what size are you looking for?

Thanks that's a good tip! I went to Burlington coat factory which is usually really good here. They didn't have much floor length though. I'm not really as interested in cocktail dresses.

  6. Yes, if you go online, search Nordstrom Rack. If you live in or near Phoenix, Arizona, I see there are two Nordstrom Rack stores. One is a Nordstrom Last Chance and Final Clearance store located at 1919 East Camelback Road. The other store is a Nordstrom Rack located at 2073 E. Camelback road.

    Hope this may help you!

    Cathy

Thanks Cathy! Its a bit of a drive for me to get to those locations but hey it just might be worth it!! Thanks so much!

  7. Not the Nordstrom store, their clearance outlet store, "Nordstrom Rack" is where you want to look. My long gown was marked down to $40.00 regular $250.00, and my cocktail dress was marked down to $25.00, regular $150.00.

I check out and shop the clearance only.

Oh sweet! Thanks! Should I just search Nordstrom rack?

  8. Macy's online has had dresses on sale and someone posted they had found some on Amazon at great prices. If you don't read the Post a picture of your dress board I'd suggest you check it out. I've also gotten some goods buys at a local thrift store as well.

  9. Do you have a Nordstrom Rack in your area? If not try their site online. I have had good luck finding long and short dresses at good prices.

    Good luck,

    Cathy

Yeah I believe we have a Nordstrom. I don't often shop there. A little pricy for my means. :/ what is a good price for a dress there?

  10. The train is pretty. But the dress would look just as nice with out the train. How about this fabric. http://www.joann.com/stretch-satin/xprd757824.html#prefn1=isProject&start=8&sz=90&prefv1=false

It comes in many colors. It does have stretch in it. I don't know if the pattern call for a stretch . But I think the stretch would not wrinkle as much.

Do you do a wrinkle test before you buy Fabric?

That fabric looks beautiful! How do you do a wrinkle test?

  11. I would likely forgo the train. I'm currently on my way to being my "old self" from before the babies. I'm not doing too bad so far so I think having a dress like this would be a nice reward. I originality wanted something with a chiffon overlay but I just can't find the right pattern. What fabric would y'all recommend?

  12. I didn't know that Joanns took Hobby Lobby coupons. Now I'm in trouble!!! :eek:I don't shop in Joann's unless I have a coupon to give them.:)

What part of Arizona are you in? We don't have a Hobby Lobby here in Yuma so I was just deleting all of my emails from them. Now I will have to print the coupons.

Geocruiser, the pattern you posted I made in a really pretty teal satin and made a jacket to match for an informal night. It turned out really cute.

Have a great time sewing ladies,

    Gerry

They'll take Michael's too but only if you're not getting fabric our anything by the yard. Maybe not seeing notions either. Reason being Michael's doesn't sell those.

I'm in mesa. We recently got a hobby lobby within the last couple years right near me. THAT is an addicting store

  13. Do you have Joann's fabric near you. You can use their 40% off coupon for some of their fabric. You will love being ona ship. What part of the world are you sailing too?

Here is a quick pattern for you. No zipper!

Oh yeah I do! I have to stay away so I don't spend money! Lol and I'm a coupon junkie at Joanns. They accept the hobby lobby coupon too so I'm always using several.

  14. I am in my very early sixties. I say "what the point in growing up":)! I do wear some crazy thing in the way of fabric.

I am a left over 1960's child who is a parrot head.

Lol I like you! This look comfy. I'm 24 and my husband and I are going on our first cruise...first vacation actually since we got married. It will be our 6th anniversary on the cruise so I want to wear something special but being poor youngins I can't afford to buy a bunch of beach appropriate clothes and a formal dress so I'd like to see if I can make some of them for less.

  15. Hi,

Start sewing! I love the dress pattern. What color are you thinking of making it in?

I think it's pretty too, but do you think it would be a little... odd for me to show up to dinner in the titanic dress? Our would anyone know if I did it different colors?
