Just got off Norwegian Pearl and for a change, actually found it easier to front into the elevator and back out. The whole back wall was mirrored so I had a clear view of where people were and where the door was.
I also always apologize for holding up progress. Yes, I have a perfect right to be there but it's simple courtesy and lets them feel gracious when they reply that it is no problem (and someone always does). If I can derail resentment and buy goodwill with a few words, I will. Every. Single. Time.
Alanna, you discovered why I ALWAYS urge people with any kind of mobility problem to rent a scooter. The ships are just too big. I used my scooter rather than my wheelchair whenever possible, both to spare DH having to push me, and because I could (barely) get by the laundry carts with my scooter but not with my wheelchair.
