Sorry, but what does the ongoing problems at AARP Rewards Wedsite have to do with Carnival's website?  They are two completely different companies.

ThaNectar:  I hope someone can tell you whether they are having trouble with Carnival's site or not.

Yes, they were having trouble with the carnival check out

I too will be very interested.  We leave soon on a cruise that still requires supervised testing due to its length.  Even though we are fully vaccinated and boosted we have to go through the inconvenience and expense of regular Covid testing.  If non vaccinated cruiser can self test then fully vaccinated and boosted should be able to also regardless of cruise length. Aren't we actually safer passengers to have on board than unvaccinated self-testers. It will be interesting to see reports of illness from people on ships that didn't require full testing compared to ours.  I'll make a point to post after we return if I noticed any indication of people being quarantined.  Perhaps we will have a safer cruise because of it.  We'll see.

No, you arent safer at all

So a person from thousands of miles away sees your test and says it's yes or no. That person may or not be a medical expert.  That person on the phone did zero except send you a yes or no via email . That is zero proof of anything

I have no idea what you are even talking about.

I was referring to when you call Carnival customer service... and ask them alot of general questions..  if u call 5 times, you are likely to get 5 different answers.

Not sure what you are talking about "proof", "medical expert" etc..

NO not exactly.  There is a big difference between me writing my name on a piece of paper and taking a picture of a test  - and having a lab report that says it was done and supervised.  The latter being what Carnival employees are used to seeing all the time up until right now.  I would NOT be at all surprised if someone shows up in the next few days with a picture of a test on their phone and are told that won't work and it turns in to a big to-do.

Dissemination of information to employees is not always Carnival's strong suit.  Agents have actually told me two different times now on two different cruises I did NOT have to do the Health Assertation 3-days prior to boarding when I called to say I needed help because it wasn't showing up in my booking to do it.  Wasn't until I pushed back that they contacted web support and low and behold it showed up.  Pretty bad when the guests know more than the employees do.

You can call them 5 different times and get 5 different answers.

I just talked to a rep at Carnival rep and he said that, no you cannot show up with a unsupervised home test that it must be proctored.  I agree with everyone that testing is ridiculous at this point.  I also want to add that there website information is NOT CLEAR and i did stress that to the rep.

Call 5 times... get 5 different answers

You might have trouble loading that amount.  You would be able to apply gift cards to already made room charges so if you charged $5000 to your S&S in the casino, you can pay down the balance with gift cards.

Thanks.. so if  I add $1000 to my S&S to gamble with linked to my CC on file.. then just go pay off with my gift cards?

Didn't know if there was a max amount of gift cards you can use.

  7. Ok..so let's say I add $5,000 to my on board acct with gift cards.

Let's say I end up only using $1,000 of my $5000.

Can I cash out the remainder of the $4,000 at the casino? Get $4,000 in chips, gamble and break even.... can I cash out my $4,000 for cash?

Also, if it is a digital gift card, can I just add it at check in or at a kiosk?

    Thanks Yall

I had hoped the cruise lines wanted to keep guests safe, and still lighten up a bit on the protocols, but I was wrong. As usual, Carnival much like the other mainstream cruise lines, cares about one thing, money. Of course it’s understandable, after all the losses they had during the pandemic. Surely they can’t allow one cruise line to outdo the other, no, that wouldn’t work. After all the pandemic is all but a memory, right????

We are set to sail in a few weeks. Sadly, I’ll never know if the guest next to me has a fake vaccination card, or better yet, isn’t vaccinated at all, but  took a home test or his/her 4 year old took it with negative results…yay. So happy I packed the N95’s.

I suppose our next cruise scheduled for December 2022 will most likely be canceled as I suspect outbreaks will ramp up by early October and cruising will come to another abrupt halt. It was a good ride while it lasted.

This would also apply to all the Vax'd people who are positive and board the ship without testing.

Vax'd and tested have been spreading covid on cruise ships  for months now.

Did anyone else notice that unvaccinated guests are REQUIRED to use VeriFly now?

That's new.  Before it was always optional.

Wonder how many guests are going to show up unvaccinated and without having done VeriFly.  I guess that is how they are doing it.  They are forcing them to upload the test to VeriFly so they don't have to deal with hit at the terminal.

If you read on it says "OR" present a negative test at embarkation.

    OR

So complete honor system so I have to wonder what's the point in testing at all? But also, where's the "proof" that you even tested?  Bring your self-administered home test to the port for check-in?

(I'm just annoyed that unvaccinated peeps can take any old test at this point, but I still need a proctored test for Bermuda despite being double vaxed and boosted.)

It's a charade..  the proof will be  bringing the physical test in, screenshot, etc..

    It's useless...

Bermuda etc.. thats on them... not the cruise line.. so I'll avoid those places

From what I am reading, not allowed for only those destinations. If unvaxed and doing a 4 day cruise, (wiht no port restrictions) self test is fine. Am I not reading that correctly?

No supervision needed UNLESS traveling to Bermuda, Canada, Greece or Spain.
