Do you have any idea where the food poisoning came from? We will be on Allure Oct 30th and I hadn't really thought of packing medicine as we have never had any issues, but I will do that now. Hope being sick didn't ruin too much of your vacation.
I like your idea of double feature movies and perhaps even show some old drive-in movies. Have a 50s sci-fi movie, you know like with slime or giant ants, followed with the Pink Panther.
Hubby ate something called a b 11 burger in windjammer and it was way undercooked he immediately said yuck but was too polite to spit it out like I would have.
I ate 1 bite of a potato chicken pizza in Sorento's. It tasted weird so I rudely spit it out and was only sick one evening I am more sensitive than Hubby. That being said I would go cruising with Royal again just would be super careful.
You will love the ship, breakfast seemed like it was safe and I ate a lot of watermelon and Ceaser salad and did fine with that. Hope you have a lovely cruise.

We are just back from the Allure. We are both in our 50's and have been on 4 other cruises 3 of them on Royal. I am not doing a review but will try to answer questions and add the following observation,s these are just from our experience others may feel differently.
Good: The ship is beautiful. The staff was very attentive. Our room was adequate for 2 people a D3 Balcony room 14272. There was lots of storage and I thought the shower was great. The shows I saw was Mam Mia (awesome), Blue planet (more awesome), Ice games (very good),Quest Hillarious (not to be missed) Headline MOH5AIC (not very good), About a third of the audience left before the end. I do not think the problem was that they were bad but they chose the few songs they played in the 1 hour show poorly. I think they should have stuck with Motown or at least upbeat or well known songs. Unfortunately I missed Oceanaria and the comedy act. There are in room Pay per view movies that was nice. The weather was awesome without any rain. The other passengers we met on this cruise were the most polite and friendliest we have ever met.
The not so good. Our travel agent called RCI when we booked and asked RCI if the bed was close to the balcony rather than being close to the bathroom. They said yes. We arrived and bed is closest to bathroom so I was not happy. Getting into the closet with the bed so close was very annoying. The food while mostly adequate at times were inedible and I spent 1 day throwing up and my husband spent 2 days throwing up and in the bathroom. We were not alone in this. I heard there were many sick people on the ship from some of the crew. In our case It was not norovirus but food poison. So bring your kaopectate and be careful what you eat. We never ate in any specialty restaurant. We had planned to but got sick early in the cruise. The Solarium is virtually unusable it is so hot in there with poor air circulation.
Other info: The movies played at the Aqua theatre was Zootopia, Star trek Beyond ( I think), Cival war (which is either Avengers or Batman some super hero and finding Dory. They also showed Miss Penegrine home for Peculiar children in the Amber theatre in 3D. We both had the Ultimate drink package and we did not break even but again we lost 1-2 days being sick. Smoking allowed in Casino 1 side and 15th deck at sky Bar on Port side and 15th deck pool bar on Port side.
My suggestions to Royal Caribbean even though they never asked. Cool down the Solarium tint the window add industrial fans otherwise replace it with something else. Make it a policy all food is tasted before it leaves the galley. Husband took a bite into a hamburger that was virtually raw. Johnny rocket make new onion rings every 45 minutes instead of serving hard stale rings and fries. Have the Jolly Rogers (more cruising themed plus they are awesome and funny) as some of the entertainment and make the headline show a little longer. Add to the boardwalk, cotton candy, sno-cones, Get rid of the candy store and replace it with a fudge/ homemade candy shop. Have mimes/ jugglers along the boardwalk. Have one pool with either slope entry or steps. Play double feature movies after dark at the aqua theatre like at the old drive ins.
I will continue to cruise in the future because I love the feeling at being at sea and the one stop vacation. Ask any questions and I will try to answer.

Room service is pretty limited One of you could run to café promenade or Sorrento's and bring it back to the room or add it to what is available from room service. You may be able to grab something from windjammer take a paper plate and Ziploc bag and make a couple of sandwiches. There will be something to appeal to you I am sure. Kind of a bummer the other thing is maybe you could lie her down on a lounge chair on Deck 14 when you get on all the way at back is a little more private area that would be quieter than the pool also deck fourteen has a library it may be quiet in there. Just some suggestions. I predict you will have a great time even if you miss night one in dining room. Bon Voyage

Also had good claims experience with Travel Insured:)
We had a terrible experience with them. I am glad things worked out well for you but they were non responsive rude and cheated us out of 1000's of dollars. I would never recommend them and have told every person I know. Just know that just because you have travel insurance does not mean peace of mind. This company at least did everything they could not to pay the claim and I was so sick for months after missing my cruise I gave up fighting them. I figure Karma will bite them in the rear eventually.

Which night was it on the Allure eastern? My last cruise it was the last night. I LOVE it and won't miss it for anything. I think it is better than newlywed game

Thanks, for taking the time to answer. Sad but none of those appeal to us. Hopefully will change a few in 2 weeks

We are sailing in 2 weeks just wondering what movies are playing now. I know kind of lame but we like movies especially in the aqua theatre with a Mango Mai Tai.

This is just my experience and I am sure others have glowing things to say about cruise insurance but not me. I had a very bad experience with travel insurance 2 years ago. I herniated a disc in my back and the insurance company ended up not paying one dime. Gambee has mentioned that many will not cover falls if there is any alcohol in your system. The travel insurance I had was a recommendation from an online cruise outlet I am sure they have a connection. I had used this cruise outlet for years and I will never use them again. My most recent cruise I didn't even bother getting cruise insurance because I booked 1 1/2 months before the cruise. risky and I know I will purchase it again but won't naively have the feeling of peace of mind. I know it is more but I think buying it through RCI would be best because they have a stake in keeping you happy. So you will keep coming back. Good luck.

It looks like since I pre-purchased the premium package for us both on Oct 2 sailing of allure it will be honored. Sounds to me like it will be really confusing for crew and passengers trying to keep straight all the previous packages and new packages. I don't understand why they change things without any warning.

The only drink menu I found was for 2015. I purchased Premium drink package for us both so I could try different drinks. Are there very many drinks over the $12.00? If anyone knows of a place to see the drink menus with prices please send me the link. Thanks

There is a promotion on a 3 day specialty restaurant Does that mean you have to go to 3 different ones or can you go to chops 2 times and Giovann is 1 time? There is also a 30.00 coupon for the ale cart restaurants. I am reding this correctly?

Thank you for taking the time to answer. When I was last on a cruise there was internet in the internet café (for lack of another word) I just want to check email in case something serious is going on at home. I am just getting used to my I phone from sprint so you can see I probably am not as computer savy as 95% of others on cruise critic

Is fosters included as one of the beers in the Premium package?
-
I agree with a few others it is confusing when looking at the website
1.Is voom the only way to use the internet on the ship Allure of the seas?
2. Do you have to pay the whole week or can you pick certain days?
3. Does Voom work on Labadee?
4. Will your cell phone carrier charge you extra using Voom since it is out of USA.
I can't decide if I would use it enough to pay for it or not.

We want to cruise in October but no Balcony assessable rooms left. My husband uses mobility scooter around ship but not in the cabin. Does anybody know what the door sizes are on the freedom class and Oasis class cabins?
-
Has anyone traveled in a regular room on Royal Carribean with a mobility scooter? Will the scooter fit through the door? I know the rooms are much smaller than the accessible ones are. I don't mind tight but we have to get it in the room. We have always had accessible rooms in the past but there are none available in October or November. Thinking of the allure or Freedom of the seas.

We have booked a cruise in February on the Getaway. Looking at the reviews and reviewers photos it doesn't look like there are many shaded public areas to chill out during sea days.I do not want to be in direct sun but love to lounge where I can see the water and not burn. I have been on Royal Caribbean's Mariner, Explorer, Oasis and the Grand Princess. We loved them all. I am afraid I am going to be unhappy and thinking of cancelling. I am also concerned that most reviewers don't seem to eat in the included dining venues, I am not too picky and to be honest Royal Caribbean's food on the Allure wasn't at all special but it didn't affect my cruise that much. Are they many area's to chill that aren't in direct sun? Is the food worse than Royal Caribbean?

That is too bad I thought maybe I would have been safer eating in specialty restaurants.
