  1. i just wondered what other people’s experience has been booking early saver fares? The cruise I’m looking at would cost an extra £500 for us if we book Premium fare. I know we’d have to pay for parking and would lose some onboard credit. But we prefer self service dining, so table sizes and times wouldn’t bother us. I’m only really concerned about cabin location. Do you get assigned the cabins that nobody else wants??

I have taken over 30 cruises with Saver Fares and only once did I have a cabin which I considered not very good. I don't mind which part of the ship I am on, top or bottom, front or back!!!

  2. :p:)

I found the best thing was the scenery in Corfu itself rather than any of the attractions. We did a panarama tour with Corfu taxi tours. There is a thread devoted to them, also reviews on Tripadvisor.

    Had a wonderful, relaxing day.

Can I also recommend Corfu Taxis, we only had a half day in Corfu and Spiros took us to some great sites giving us a very varied tour of his Island. We wanted something that didn't involve any walking, as my husband gets very short of breath and this was just perfect.

  3. You should probably think very seriously about hiring a private car and driver. Is you husband able to navigate at all? Coming in on the tender should not be a problem as you will have the ship personal at the pier to assist. Walking in the old town will be no problem on the Stradun our main promenade. However getting to the cable car is an uphill walk or you can find a taxi to drive you to the entrance. If you have a folding wheelchair it should fit in the boot and I do believe you should be able to get into the car with the chair. Once at the top, you will be limited to certain areas which are paved, be prepared for some areas which are not.

I am very familiar with the restrictions as I also have a member of my family who uses a wheelchair. Enjoy the town, you will find some sites are not accessible but there is enough for you to enjoy also.

Here is a site for a 2 hour tour which you might consider if he can get up a couple of steps with some assistance.

I have been reading up on all the things to do in Dubrovnik and this bus would be exactly what my 87 year old husband and I are looking for.

I've looked at the link but I'm not quite sure whether this bus comes near the port or can I take a taxi to the start. We are arriving on 24th ay on MSC Fantasia.

Would be glad to hear a bit more.

  4. It means you will be allocated a restaurant where you have your evening meals. You can of course use the buffet and cover charge restaurants as well with the advantage that you don't have to tell your table companions or waiters that you will not be there the next evening.

The freedom resturant will say be open from 6pm to 9.30pm and you just turn up when you want and ask for a table. If one is available you will be shown to it. At busy times you might have to wait, in which case you will be given a pager. The ever popular tables for 2 are most likely to result in a wait.

For breakfast and lunch freedom dining applies for everyone.

The trouble is always the table for 2. I have to fight for one every cruise. My Husband and I are very hard of hearing and now he has just been diagnosed as having Alzheimer, so we really need a table for 2. Would we be better off at Club or Freedom dining? Would really appreciate any advice.
