  1. My daughter and I did it on the Majesty last month. I believe is was $30 per person. We had a great time. The chef was very funny and the assistant walked around and helped everyone that needed help. My daughter and another person don't eat shrimp and they happily substituted chicken for the hand rolls. When it was time to eat we were all served champagne. It was way more food than I could finish and definitely worth the price. We all got a certificate of completion with our name on it at the end of the evening. I would do it again if offered on my next cruise on Enchantment on September 4th. There is no Izume on Majesty so it was held in the area that is the deli during lunch.

We will be on Majesty in December. Is this available thru the cruise planner (have not seen it) or is it something that can be purchased on board?

  2. During our sailing the FlowRider most of the time was closed due to being too cold, low 50's. Not really sure if I was ever open at all but we didn't go up there but only a couple of times. The wind was bone chilling, prob in 30's with wind chill.

We will be going in August so hopefully we will have warrmer weather. I had read on here that the air temp needs to be above 50 for it to be operational.

  3. We sailed on Explorer in June and had a great time. It is going to be pretty cold during most of the cruise make sure you have some warm clothes, it was mostly in high 40's to mid 50's when we went but you could have some warm days, in the 60's . Not a lot of outdoor activities on pool deck other than movies showing and selling warm weather clothes, which we did get some gloves and beenie caps.

We enjoyed it very much and very different than a Caribbean cruise. The scenery is breathtaking and well worth it in my opinion.

Do they sell or rent wet suits in case the flowrider is operational? If it does open up, I know my teenager will want to try it.

  4. Would anyone recommend Celebrity? I like the idea of them being more adult themed and relaxing, heavy focus on the ports. But I could see myself getting bored...

**Goes to look at Celebrity Forum**

We cruised Celebrity Silhouette this past spring break (week of Easter) with our older teenagers. Have not sailed RC yet but will in December so I can only compare it to Carnival. We have also done Carnival at spring break (also 7 days Easter week). Celebrity definitely has a more laid back, adult vibe. There were more children since it was spring break and overall they were well behaved (a few renegades but that was to be expected) but not many college kids. There are not a lot of activities on Celebrity but we were looking t relax so we were not bored (kids had fun too but they also like to relax)

Our Carnival cruise definitely had more children, but also not a lot of college aged kids. So I would lean towards agreeing with those with more cruising experience that the college kids are going on the shorter booze cruises for spring break.

Someone else mentioned that depending on where your wife teaches, the spring breaks for colleges and k-12 do not usually align. You should Google college spring breaks. There is a website out there that lists EVERY college in the US and their respective breaks for the coming year.

Also, if your cruise does align with a college spring break you will probably encounter more college kids in FLL (not necessarily cruising) than San Juan.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  5. I also posted this on the Private Islands forum....

Does anyone have any up to date information on the cabanas being relocated? I saw in another thread that it is now by the watersports area.

    Is the area still private?

Is there still a deluxe buffet area? Can't tell by the map.

How "deluxe" is the buffet? What is different from the regular buffet?

    Is it quiet?

Does it now have direct beach access (i.e. not on the sea wall).

Do/Can you get a ride to the cabanas (similar to the bungalows)?

We already have a bungalow booked and I am debating upgrading to the cabana. My mother cannot walk very far, especially not on sand. When we were there in April we used the Coco Limo to get from the tender to the bungalows on South Beach. Very little walking. The Limo was also available to take hubby and kids to the jet ski area but if we do the cabana they would be close by.

Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  8. We rented a Beach Bungalow while on our cruise with Celebrity in April. It is direct access to the water and is located in the area called South Beach which is just about as far as you can get from the tenders. There is a little trolley available to drive you there. It is also very far from the food buffet area but they have a food truck that delivers the food directly to each bungalow. The food was basic, bbq chicken, ribs, burgers, hotdogs, salads. We also got 2 floats mats, had 2 padded loungers and a cooler with 4 large bottles of Evian. There is a concierge that monitors who comes into the area and she took her job very seriously. I have another one booked for our Majesty cruise in December.

Cannot speak to the cabanas being moved since they were still located on the sea wall when we visited.

  9. We have bought the photo package for our two Celebrity cruises and each time came away with over 100 prints. Our last cruise it was 40% off prior to the cruise so we paid $149 instead of $250. Our daughters are in a separate cabin and they are included in the package since they are under 21. This includes ALL pictures, including the cheesy pirate, embarkation, and port of call photos.

We will be on Royal for Christmas and I am debating getting it again. Only because we would stop at every photo op there was, after awhile the kids starting getting bored. Also, not all the photographers are very creative and some of the shots started getting repetitive.

  10.

Also, I was told that the minimum was 5 people. (Just what they told me). So if you price it with 5 or 6, it will definitely be more expensive than a JR. Suite that cannot hold that many. I will be interested to see what perks anyone gets from these "suites" on the Adventure after the 2018 dry dock.

I booked 1804 on Explorer with only 4. I think someone said you can now book with less since it was reclassified.

  11. We were in that type of cabin on the Freedom this past March. We absolutely loved the cabin. They already charged a premium for that type of oceanview cabin. If they re-label it a suite, I guess we will not be booking that type of cabin again. Back to booking other cabins that will accommodate our family of 6 or booking a few rooms side by side.

I looked at a similar type of cabin on the NCL Dawn and they call this type of cabin a suite and give the suite privileges. We picked a couple of interior cabins for less than half the price for the 6 of us. We will spend the extra money we saved on excursions and a few other perks we can enjoy.

When we booked this cruise, the price for the Panoramic Suite was on par with the price of the Ultra Spacious Oceanview and about $200 pp less than a Junior Suite.

  12. We cruised on Sunshine 2 years ago and had the same concerns. I read up on all the little little tricks right here on CC (like don't sit in the immediate buffet area, head to the back by the Havana Bar, never crowded) and went in with an open mind. I cannot say Sunshine is my favorite, she did have some quirks and it took me awhile to get the lay of the land, but it was fun getting lost.

Don't read the negative posts. Enjoy your cruise!

  13. May be too late, but this was our experience....

The Beach Bungalow has a sofa and table with 2 padded loungers. That was $195.

The Beach Bed has a large bed instead of a sofa and table. That was $149 I believe.

The bungalows and beds are located on the South Beach area of the island. food is delivered to you since it is very far from where the main buffet is served.

  14.

    Same here!

We had actually rented a cabana for our 2nd trip to HMC last year even tho the price had increased to $279. Factoring in the 4 floats and the 4 sets of snorkeling equipment, I see that as saving about $120 for the 4 of us. The snacks, water and soda they also provided was also great. Padded loungers another bonus. The cabana itself only has 3 sides, but the air conditioner still provided some respite from the heat. We had Cabana #10 which I thought was ideal. When we go back again, if it is in the colder months, I may try to convince my husband that we "need" one of the villas with the hot tub :D!

  15. can anyone tell me about the beach bedrentals? Good location? 9&11 year old traveling too-photo looks like its close to water. Can you see water from them to watch kids? What area of island are they in? Thanks! First time going to coco cay and it looks like the only place I can prebook. I need a shady place for medical reasons!

The beach beds are located in an area of Coco Cay called South Beach. They are close to the water and you will be able to watch your children from the bed. There are curtains around the beach beds that you can untie to block out the sun (but you will also block the breeze if there is any).

We rented a beach bungalow (these are next to the beach beds) on our last trip to Coco Cay and loved it. Slight downside is the distance from the food. However, they have a food truck and the employees will deliver the food to you. I do not know if it is exactly the same as what is offered at the bbq lunch.

It is also a good distance from where you will dock but there is a tram to bring you back and forth.

As for the cabanas (if they are available to you), those are not on the beach. They are located on the sea wall.
