  1. We sailed on Voyager in November last year. If there was any outbreak of a virus we were unaware. In the course of the day you meet and talk to many people and we didn't hear a word about sickness, except the self inflicted.

The staff were constantly cleaning and we were impressed with the basic cleanliness. The only complaint we had were the coffee mugs in the Windjammer. A dark stain inside and that was all of them. Maybe RCL need to look into that, they were of the melamine type.

As for drinks we had no trouble ordering and didn't see anyone too drunk.

Our cruise was very enjoyable and we would do it again.

  2. Please don’t take this as an insulting question! We are cruising on the Voyager of the Seas in March when it re-positions from Sydney to Perth via New Zealand. I imagine there will be at least 3 formal nights on the 18 day cruise and given that the general perception in the UK is that folks from Australia/NZ prefer to dress down for meals I was wondering if it will be worth the effort to bring a dinner jacket etc and for my wife to include gowns in our limited baggage allowance if we are going to feel out of place wearing them? Grateful for views. :)

We have just done a 14 night cruise to NZ on Voyager and we had 3 formal nights. There were a few men in tuxedos but the majority wore business suits. The were very few women in evening dresses as such but all looked lovely in dressier outfits. We loved formal nights it's so nice to dress up and the atmosphere on formal night is special. We thought everyone made a special effort. The majority of passengers were Aussies. My husband packed 2 shirts to go with his suit and I had black evening pants with 3 different evening tops.

  3. Hi, Currently aboard Solstice in a cool and damp Dunedin today and they have magnificent decorations around the atrium with huge trees on either side of the grand staircase.

Will try and post some shots

Lucky you we couldn't make it into Dunedin earlier this month because of strong winds , missed out on our train ride. Our captain waited for nearly 2 hrs for the winds to drop but had to give up, another cruise ship couldn't make it in either . Big business lost that day for Dunedin. Just can't control the weather and our captain put our safety first. We were on Voyager.

  4. We have just come home from a cruise on Voyager of the Seas. Formal nights (3) men wore suits, tuxedoes and one gentleman was in white dinner jacket. Ladies in cocktail dresses or pants and dressy

My husband wore a suit and tie for formal evenings. I had 3 different outfits for formal night and felt I could have got away with just one or two. As usual I overpacked.

Loved formal nights and my husband didn't complain once about having to dress up. It felt very grand walking into the MDR on his arm.

  5. Just returned from 14 nights on VOS. It was our first cruise and we had the time of our lives. The staff were wonderful, friendly and efficient . Our cabin deluxe balcony cabin was clean and roomy. Lots of space for all our clothes and bits and pieces which kept our room tidy at all times. If I had a complaint about our cabin was that the bed was not the most comfortable. After a few nights I found the most comfortable part and then slept very well. I am sorry I didn't take my own hair dryer but the one supplied was ok.

The entertainment was terrific and of course the food superb. Dining room staff were incredible, so helpful and fun.

We heard a few whingers but some people are never happy. Totally ignored any negative people by just walking away. Most people were very happy and friendly. Our dining companions the best group of people, so lucky there.

We found the ship clean and easy to get around once we found our way around (it took nearly a week to really explore it).

We will definately sail RCL again one day.

  6. I am the same height as you and when I was in my 20s I weighed between 55 and 60 kgs.

I looked great in a bikini and was the envy of all my friends.

Please please do not lose anymore weight. Enjoy your life , you will rock in that bikini. People only look because you look GOOD. Pilates and walking are good for keeping healthy . Stop wasting valuable fun and living time doing all that other stuff.

  7. I have laid out clothes which I think I will take and all the other bits and pieces. Next week I will do the serious sorting, iron and pack it all in the bags on the Friday before we leave. My husband and I have lost heaps of weight in the past 3 months so we have bought all new clothes. Shoes are my worst as I always take too many pairs. Trying to pare it down to 4prs each. We are packing summer and winter clothes as it will be cooler in the South Island of NZ. Taking 2 large bags, suit bag, small carry on, hubbies CPAP machine. Just as well we don't have to fly then I would be in a quandary .

  8. Thank you all.

    Another question .....

Our departure time is 7pm and we are on MTD which is currently reserved for 6pm but I could change it. What is the sail away like? Is it like a big party on deck? if we have dinner at 6pm I'm sure we won't finish by sail away time. What do you guys recommend we do? Have dinner later after sail away? How long will it take for the ship to sail out of the harbor?

I was thinking the same thing about the 6pm dining at sail away. I was thinking of cancelling for that evening only and just going to the Windjammer. We don't want to miss seeing our beautiful harbour from this huge ship. Will look forward to reading replies from veteran travellers.

  9. It was hard work but it certainly was fun wor

    Hope you like it![/QU

I have just spent a few hours looking at your wonderful review of your cruise.

We are about to do NZ and Melbourne in November on Voyager, it is our first cruise and you have given us a wonderful view of Voyager and NZ.

Thank you so much for all the trouble you have gone to to provide a guide to us first timers.

My husband is now really looking forward to the trip and I am also very excited.
