  1. I know this is random but just wondering if anyone else feels this way.  My parents gave me a lovely name, but I have always gone by my middle name, my entire 63 years I have been here.  I traveled under that name, work and still do work, filed my taxes - still do, got a mortgage, car loans, insurance with only my middle and last name.  Then 911 happened and everyone must use your legal name, or as they say your first name.  When you board the cruise ship everyone is so friendly and addresses you with the name on the reservation.  It can be quite funny sometimes, since my first name is "Merre" it is pronounced like Merry, it was a family name and it was my beautiful grandmother's name.  But the nice room stewards and waiters usually say, "Hello Ms Merrrrr".  so not their fault for the pronunciation.   I understand that I can legally change my name and I know some people have done that, but it is expensive.  I just wish they had a place one the reservation for preferred "Nickname" or something.  I feel like I lost a little bit of the freedom we are supposed to have in America.

  2. Booked later this year on Mardi Gras, just wondering if they still allow smoking in the Casino?  I am not a smoker and really hate the smell on my clothes.  I am also not a big gambler, but I do like to donate a few bucks each cruise. LOL.  Last year on RCCL it was horrible, smokers were using the casino as a smoking area.  You could not get away from it.  Needless to say I did not donate much on that cruise.  That is one thing that I really like about Celebrity, they really control where the smokers can hang out and smoke.  It is not the casino.  Now smokers don't flame me, I know you want to enjoy your cruise too, but it is annoying to smell it and it give me a headache sometimes.

  3. We have a booking on this sailing, booked about a month ago, I told some friends they should join us but when she went to look you cannot find this sailing to book on any websites including Carnival.  It seemed like there were plenty of cabins left a few weeks ago.  Does this mean it is full or should I be worried that the cruise is being cancelled?  Just find this really odd, usually this far out there would be a couple of cabins available.

She plans on calling Carnival.  Has this ever happened before?

  4. We purchased this for the Mariner for upcoming sailing.  It does not mention specifically mention Playmakers, but it does say that Ala carte venues would receive a credit. Is Playmakers specifically ala carte?

And what the heck is Dadong? I don't see any reference to it on the app.

  5. I just received an email that masks were optional in the terminal now....seems a little premature with all the reported cases on cruise ships. I am getting my booster this week and my whole family if fully vaccinated, I have "knock on wood" avoided the dreaded virus all this time, I really hope I don't catch on the cruise.  Sailing on the Equinox May 29th.

That aside, we have not cruised since before Covid. (We were sailing March of 2020 and everything cancelled the day before we left).  Do they give you a specific time for boarding or can you just show up like we used to around 1 pm?  We are Conceirge class so we are supposed to have priorty boarding but not sure what that means anymore.  Any input is appreciated

  6. Thank you, I was hoping that was the case. Kind of bummed, we had to cancel because Military revoke daughter's leave,  we cancelled  Thursday and the next day everything shut down, we did not get the 125% that we would have gotten if we had waited. Still happy we will get to go sometime in future.

  7. I have tried to search the forums but can not find the right combo to pull the information I am looking for.  We are booked on the Edge for March 15th.  We ended up booking the lowest Ocean view because my 2 granddaughters felt that they MUST sail on Celebrity... it is spring break and we could have had a balcony for this price on other lines.  Anyway, we wanted Select dining, but we were assigned Early seating.  I have read on other sites that there are 4 main dining rooms and that you are assigned one of them.  Conflicting info from several sites.  Some say you have no option but to eat in that dining room.  Other posting says you can eat in all four but you have to reserve them.  I think since the theme is different in each that we would like to try different ones...If this is possible, when and where do you make the reservations?  One group said they just showed up and were seated.  Also is there way to just change to Select dining?  Any help will be appreciated.

  8. I feel blessed to be able to travel, but I don't like to hear all the complaining about how everything used to be so much better. Everyone complains about cuts in service, but no one wants to pay higher prices. Get real, the cruise lines have to make money or they will go out of business. Enjoy what you get, it is awesome!  I am happy for that cruiser that has a million points, but don't turn it negative with oh they don't do this or food is not up to par etc. Have fun!

  9. Anyone sailing on the Equinox today, please give a cheer to the newest US Navy ship USS Paul Ignatious. There is dedication ceremony today. You can see it docked near where the Princess ships usually dock.  My daughter serves as the Doc on the ship and we could not be more proud!  We could not make the ceremony, so everyone give her a salute for us.

  10. We always decorate the door. Use the command strips, so no damage to the door.  It helps me find my way "home".  Many other cruisers near us say they use it as a marker for their room too. Have fun be clever and enjoy. What ever floats your boat!

  11. I just ordered a great little fan recently from Amazon for an upcoming cruise. It has a really small profile in my luggage. Small, lightweight. But it does a great job. You can charge it with a USB charger during the day when you're out and about and run it all night.

What is the brand or name. I want to buy one for my cruise in October.

  12. This is disturbing, we are sailing in October and we picked this ship over several others. I usually take reviews with a grain of salt, but we are looking forward to the entertainment on the ship. I understand this poster feels they did not get what they paid for and were unhappy. But if you look a few post downs another cruiser posted a glowing review of the Oasis and they sailed a week prior to this poster. I am hoping it will be favorable sailing for us!
