Is it beneficial to pay for gratuities up front prior to the cruise.?

Thank you for your tips. I have done RCCL a number of times but we fancy the Princess lines for a wee change. Our highlight of the cruises is the shows.

We travelled to New Zealand 2 years ago but not on a cruise ( all fully booked at the time ) New Zealand is really beautiful, same type of scenery as Scotland which is also well worth a visit. But as you say it is a long way to fly. 23 hours from the UK.

Thank you for that information. I noticed your location is Nova Scotia, I always wanted to visit there from teachings at school in Glasgow, the name always caught my attention being it meant New Scotland, so we had a cruise there last September and we loved it. A lovely part of the world.

Hi. We are considering the Princess line for the first time on the Majestic from Shanghia to Sidney. I would appreciate any info good or bad that could assist me to make a decision
before we go ahead with the booking. The last 6 cruises we had was with RCCL. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi. I am looking for some info regarding day tours after docking at Palma, Marseilles. La Spezia and Civitacecchia. I would like to know if anyone has been to these ports and which excursion tour companies we could use. I know it would be more economical than the cruise ships rates Thanks. any help would be appreciated. :)

Hi, I have been trying since January 11th to get a Roll Call started for the Allure of the seas sailing July 26th from Barcelona.I have followed instructions from other cruisers to the letter (I think) but to no avail. What does appear on the Roll Call search is the dates up to July19th then skips to August 02nd, anyone with any ideas

I logged on to youtube recently and viewed a site where passengers on various cruises videod other passengers running like the clappers along the dockside to catch the ship as it was pulling away, sad to see especially when children are involved, but the ships are not going to stop.
certainly makes you look at your watch when out and about.

Years ago gratuities or Tips as we in the UK call them were at the discretion of the cruisers or customers. We always gave tips based on the level of service by placing them in the preverbial envelope place on our pillow on the last night of the cuise and we always tipped well. Now we are told by the cruise companies that you WILL give our staff what we tell you to give. In the UK our service staff are paid a living wage, they do not depend on tips but they do still recieve a tip if the service is good. I think the cruise companies if they are not careful are going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.
