  1. We used a tour company, booked in advance and paid for on the day. It was expensive but well worth it in my opinion. It was a very full day and was a little challenging in parts. I use an electric chair which coped pretty well, a manual chair would be hard going I think,   some of the kerbs are high and access is variable. However, people were helpful and friendly and the tour guide and driver were great. It’s a fascinating and beautiful city, Peterhof and the Catherine Palace were highlights and wheelchair access was good.

  2. We are thinking Fjords in August but can't decide between Arcadia and Britannia. .we are lucky to be able to have a child free holiday.

    Usually sail RCCL.

Britannia is fab, I sailed in July and was VERY apprehensive after reading the poor reviews and as a disbaled cruiser I was concerned things may be challenging for me. It was a wonderful cruise, would return to Britannia in a heartbeat.

And as for the lifts....seriously, not a big deal at all. I may have waited 2-3 minutes at busy times but that was it. There is talk about the central stairs being opened up to passengers but really, I failed to see what some people were making such a fuss about.

  3. Hi Daz,

Many thanks for your reply. I'm amazed there were lifts out of order on a brand new ship, let's hope they were just teething problems!

It's good to know the staff were helpful, having been on the QM2 where the staff were just lovely that's reassuring.

Did you find you could access everything that you wanted to onboard? Was there plenty of room around tables etc for you to manoevre comfortably? How were the bathrooms and disabled loos around the ship?

It sounds like you enjoyed it so looking forward to it!

  4. Has anyone tried out Britannia yet?

I'm booked for the Fjords in July, adapted balcony cabin has been booked and I'll be taking my wheelchair and scooter as usual.

Any thoughts on ease of access or just the overall experience would be much appreciated!

  5. Hi everybody,

I'm looking at the Fjords for this year. Have found good deals on both and was wondering if any experienced cruisers had any thoughts?

I've cruised twice with Cunard and loved it.

Any thoughts much appreciated, looking at Eclipse and Aurora/Azura.

    Thank you!

  6. Hi everyone,

We're looking at the Norway and Northern Cape cruise in July next year. I've seen P&O ships described as "Benidorm at sea" which is NOT the vibe we're looking for! It's a lot of money and will be my husband's first cruise, plus it will be our 10th wedding anniversary, so it needs to be good!

We're mid-thirties, like good food and wine, relaxing and seeing new places!

Any experiences, good or bad, of Aurora would be most welcome.

    Thanks,

    Stella

  7. I took my scooter everywhere, dining rooms and theatres included. This was with Cunard. The staff were very accomodating and helped with everything. I was given a dining table with plenty of space around it to park my scooter, I wasn't in the way at all.

Just ask for what you need, I'm sure you'll have a great time.
