  1. We will be in the Main deck, mid-ship on the Liberty in March. just wondering if anyone can tell us how this deck is. Any worries or vibrations/noise. Just wondering, we have been on all the other decks below Lido except this one. Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

    Note on the Vibrations:

We just did the Liberty on an 8-day from the 3rd to the 11th. We were Deck 7, just aft of midship.

I had been dreading the vibration I had heard everyone and their uncles complain about on here, but only once did I ever experience any vibrations that were noteworthy.

  2. Hello all!

I have been looking at different hotels in the Port Canaveral area that offer Stay, Park, and Go packages, and I was wondering which you used/enjoyed.

I looked at the Radisson Resort at the Port, but I noticed that it doesn't mention any maximum on the number of days you're allowed to park. As such, I called the hotel and was told that I would get to choose a length when I reserved the room... but I never saw that option. I'd rather not book the room, only to find out I need to cancel and book elsewhere!

  3. Hi all!

So I was checking the Carnival Fare Viewer just a moment ago, and I'm a little lost. I don't actually know what we booked under (Early Saver, etc). We didn't book the cruise online, we booked through a Carnival rep on our previous cruise in March of 2014, and I don't see the booking type listed on any of the paperwork we were given. In addition, the perk we received for booking when we did ($50 OBC per person) isn't listed under any of the selections available on the Fare Viewer.

Is there a way for me to check what my booking type is without running on the hamster wheel that is CCL Customer Service?

And one more thing; does Early Saver reap the benefit of ANY price drop? Cause if we booked ES, and we get ANY price drop, I see a nice $100~ more coming our way.

    Thanks!

  4. The idea of getting additional copies of the BCs would work for me, I got mine within a week. However, my wife is from Texas, and getting the copy she has now took almost a month.

Also, I know I'm behind the eight ball... I kept saying I was going to do it, but I was getting nervous about sending off the docs in July. I know how government services run, and it wouldn't have been the first time they lost something of mine, or just took their sweet time getting things done.

Plus, for the last couple of months money has been tight. Passports aren't a justifiable purchase ($200ish) in those situations, especially when we pretty much only do closed-loop.

  5. You will have to turn in the originals....if you don't HAVE to have the passport, and closed loop cruises don't require them, just take your photo id (DL) and BC! Too easy!

All of our cruises have been closed-loop, so we've taken the BC/DL combo every time. I just keep thinking that the next cruise is gonna be the one where we somehow wind up stuck in another country because of some strange occurrence that caused us to miss the ship, and that having our passports would make me feel better.

And then every time I forget to do it until we get so close to the cruise date that I feel uncomfortable with sending off the only other identification we have that would allow us to board the ship!

Thank you for the info though. I guess I could call the passport office here and see if they can give me a better idea of the current turnaround time, but we'll probably just do this one last cruise as BC/DL and get our passports next year...

  6. Hello everyone!

Although I'm not a first-time cruiser, I do have a question regarding passports: If I go to a passport office (for instance, there's a post office down the street that offers all the necessary services), do I have to send off my identification documents? I've looked at the US Passport info online, and it states that for those applying in person you need to bring the original documents plus photocopies of each. I assumed that implied that we would show them the originals, send off the photocopies, and then get to keep the originals.

I'm asking because my wife and I really want to get our passports before our next cruise (1/3/15), but I've heard horror stories about sending off the documentation, and receiving neither the passport nor the birth certificate in time for the cruise.

    Thanks!

  7. Hi all!

I thought this would fit better in the Ports of Call forum, but they didn't have a section for the entire Eastern Caribbean area.

My wife and I are going on a honeymoon cruise with Carnival the first week in January. It is an 8-day Eastern Caribbean cruise that stops in San Juan, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Grand Turk. My question is: what is the winter weather like in that region? I tried looking it up via a Google search, but all I really found were year-round averages.

I know that the temperatures tend to be cooler when sailing, what with the breeze and cooler temps over water, but what about the ports of call?

    Thanks guys!

  8. I definitely want to get them, but we can't afford them. We would have to use our tax returns, and I have no clue when we'll be getting those. If we get them too late, then the price jumps to ~$200 per passport, and there is no guarantee that we'd get them on time.

Thanks for all the replies and advice though!

  9. Alright, I read through the sticky, but it didn't fully answer my question. According to the Carnival FAQ:

"The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) allows U.S. citizens (including children) sailing on cruises that begin and end in the same U.S. port to travel with one of the WHTI compliant documents, listed below. "

My fiancee and I are looking at going on a March cruise that departs from and returns to Miami, and goes to a couple of ports in Mexico. Do we need passports or not?

    Thanks
