  1. We signed on  Feb. 29  to March 7. Looking forward to a new ship. We are elite and have been cruising for 20+ years on Princess. We tried other lines but this is more like home. Princess does a wonderful job of entertainment, food presentation, activities and movies under the stars. We usually hit it the minute we board to check everything out, sign up for specialty restaurants and excursions.

We live on west coast of FL in Venice and drive to the port. About 3 hours total.

  2. Leaving for Nov. 25 cruise in Caribbean on Divinia:

Do we need 110 adapters for anything in cabin?

    How many outlets are there?

    Is shampoo and conditioner provided?

Should we bring our own hairdryer?

    How many formal nights?

Are women's capri pants permitted for dinner in dining rooms?

  3. We're on the Jan. 3 sailing. We received email notice: the OBC $50, change of not stopping in Jamacia, going to Grand Cayman instead, not going to Colon, but Cristobel instead. We've been to Panama once so it doesn't make any difference to us where the ship goes. BUT WHAT IF THE SHIP SUDDENLY STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN WITH ENGINE PROBLEMS? Not a good thought is it? They would have to provide extra entertainment and free drinks all around if we get stagnated. I hope that does not happen to us.

  4. Royal L101: we stayed there 2x and loved it. The door was never locked. even though there is a sign posted on the door we were told it did not have to be locked. We chaired a Cabin Crawl with CC at our Meet and Greet and had 14 people standing on our balcony. You can see plenty of the ocean when standing. The metal railing took 5 minutes to get used to, then we forgot about it. 2 lounge chairs, 2 sit up straight chairs, a foot stool, large table and small one out there too.

  5. We had it on Royal 2x and both cruises looked forward to it. It was a very nice meal for the money. It was $25, now $29. Still worth it. We could not eat all the shrimp they have in the pot. Crab was excellent. Desert, if you have room was just OK but later in the evening you can get something at another venue.

  6. We were on the Royal in March and went to the Crab Shack. It was fantastic!

If you love seafood it is the best bargain on the ship. There are tons of shrimp in the pot along with mussels, clams and sausage plus King Crab legs. Best money spent. We are on Royal Nov. 30 and will sign up for this one ASAP.

They start with clam chowder, stuffed mushrooms, then the pot. You will not have room for desert but you can take it back to your cabin. To us this is a don't miss restaurant experience.

  7. We have been on the Royal 2x and going again Nov. 30. Booked L-101 last time and loved it. The Lido deck is convenient to Horizon and pool we use. We had a deluxe obstructed balcony. It was 14 people deep during a Cabin Crawl our Meet and Greet did. The only thing obstructed is the fact instead of plexi glass we had a steel front. We had to stand up to see the water near the ship, but sitting down we could see the water away from the ship. Whales, dolphins, etc.

  8. We are on the Royal Nov. 30 in L-101 and we also had the same cabin in March. We had a cabin crawl with Meet & Greet and 14 people were on our deck. Our doors were not at any time. Windy when sailing into the wind, but there is an alcove to duck out of it.

When leaving port there is no better place to see the action. We love L-101. We are above the Bridge with nothing to block our view 180 degrees.

  9. Hello Miss Anderson,

I am a member on a Cruise Critic.com Meet and Greet committee for the Nov. 30 Royal cruise. Our group would like to have a venue (unused lounge or similar area) to hold the event on the first sea day.

The person who was organizing it became discouraged and walked away because the Princess contact person would not permit this and suggested we meet outside of the pool area which is unworkable for this type of gathering. We requested a room and wait staff so those who wanted to could purchase drinks. Our 60-70 Cruise Critic members are looking forward to a great cruise vacation.

I am Platinum on Princess and I have never had a problem organizing the Meet and Greet on my 13 previous Princess cruises. We were always able to schedule on a sea day.

    We would appreciate your assistance.

  10. We sailed in March on Lido 101 and enjoyed so much we have it booked it for Nov. 30. Balcony is huge, had 14 on it and room for more people. We used it in the Cabin Crawl after our Meet & Greet. Doing it again too.

  11. Great pic!! Were you able to use your balcony while at sea? We booked L101 on the Regal for next fall and were told by Princess that the balcony is only accessible when in port.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

On the Royal, we could use the balcony when the ship was at sea. The only restrictions are posted on the balcony door:

On our 10 night cruise last March there was only one day that the wind made the balcony unusable. It depends on the direction of the wind and how fast the ship is moving. The metal rail in front deflected wind above the table and chairs.

  12. We were on a Royal cruise and had this cabin. The balcony held 14 cruise critic members on it during a cabin crawl event and we could have had 4 more! It is obstructed but only by the steel plate instead of plexiglass. You have 180 degree vision from the rail when you stand up. Looks like you see the same thing the Captain sees. BTW, that's a picture of me sitting on the deck just before sailaway.

  13. How was the wind while at sea? Did the front bow direct any wind above you if sitting in the chairs like a windscreen?

It depends ***** the speed of the ship and the direction of the wind. On one sea day the wind was strong, however, that day the Retreat Pool was also not usable because of the strong winds. The other sea days and most evenings the balcony was usable. This was in the Caribbean in March, I don't know about other itineraries.

  14. We were on Lido on the Royal last March. We booked same cabin for Nov.30.The first cruise on Royal we had the typical balcony and it was not fun at all. This one is L101 which is smack in front of the ship.

The only obstruction is a steel bulkhead instead of plexglass. You can stand by the rail and see 180 degrees. The balcony is 12 ft x 10ft and comes with a large table and 4 chairs. Same price as a deluxe balcony. Room has a couch instead of that chair you have to move very time you want to go out.

We had 14 people on our balcony for a cabin crawl with Cruise Critic members.

  16. Wow, what an amazing balcony. We have had several mini suites on dolphin decks and did not mind the open roof at all.

However we just booked our first full penthouse suite which is on riviera deck on the royal in November, and I am in a panic after seeing how narrow the balcony is for this cabin. We do like to spend time there. I hope it will be okay.

    Marge

On that cruise, I visited one of the penthouse suites and the balcony is long and narrow. So narrow that the chairs can only be placed facing sideways in relation to the balcony door and would have to be lifted above the rail in order to be turned 180 degrees so they face the other way.
