  1. My husband and I will be on the POA 9/30. We are renting cars in most ports. We are bringing our new masks with us but I'm concerned that I won't see a lot of fish off the beaches where we decide to stop. Thinking of doing a snorkeling excursion in either Maui or Kona. Have read mixed reviews in both locations. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for this is our first time to Hawaii and don't want to miss the best of any of the ports!

  2. Thanks for the info. By any chance, do you know how much it is from the airport to the Sheraton? Don't know if it's worth saving a few dollars and waiting a half hour for the uber at the airport. (Since you have to call after you get your luggage). It's our first time in Hawaii and know we will be sooo excited to get out of the airport and get to see our 50th state!!

  3. My husband and I will be arriving in Honolulu on 9-28. We are staying at the Sheraton in Waikiki before and after our cruise on the POA. Just wondering if its easier and more economical to take taxis back and forth from airport to hotel and hotel to ship rather than make reservations with a car service.

  4. We are in the planning stages for our cruise on POA 9/30. It is our first time in Hawaii and we are sooo excited. Our plans are renting cars at all the ports as we love to explore. Has anyone rented snorkel equipment in Honolulu for the week? Is it worth the pain of shlepping it onto the ship and to the car rental locations or just rent equipment when we need it??

Any suggestions as where to go in Maui or Kauai in the evening when we are in port? (No interest in attending a lu'au). Any help will be appreciated.

  5. I also was on this cruise leaving 3-26-16. We totally enjoyed this cruise (our 4th with Windstar and the 2nd on the Surf)). Yes the winds and seas were a little rough (my husband left the dinner table early the first few nights) and there were alot of teens and a few children on board (never had a problem with them). That being said, we had a great time! We were a party of 4 and always managed to find lounge chairs when we needed them. Of course the day at sea was busy around the pool so we headed to the front of the boat and had our own private area which was fantastic. (A new experience for us because usually we hang poolside).

One of my favorite moments on the sailing ships are the sails being raised and I have to admit it wasn't so special on this cruise. Also I found the captain not to be so friendly as previous captains. But then again he is new to the company I was told.

We are headed to Europe this summer with 12 members of my family on Celebrity and I know the experience will not be the same. (I hear my husband complaining all ready that Windstar's experience is so much better).

Looking forward to our next Windstar cruise which I hope will be Tahiti!

  6. Booked our third Windstar cruise last month. We fell in love with Windstar when we were sitting around the pool and the head bartender asked if he can clean our sunglasses. That to me was being catered to...and it didn't cost the company much!!! It's the little things that made the past 2 cruises are best cruises ever!
