My husband and I were on a Viking Rhine cruise in mid-Nov. 2013. It was too cold to sit up on the top deck. (We're from Minnesota and are used to cold-- we actually did sit up top once for about an hour, but we were pretty well frozen when we came back down.)

Lori, I would love to read your writeup of your trip. My husband and I are doing our first ever river cruise in mid-November (Viking Rhine, Amsterdam to Basel). I've been reading many threads here on Cruise Critic, which has been very helpful, but I'm especially interested in your experience because of the season/weather.
My email is tracy [at) tesselar . net
Thank you!
Rhine: Are the temps predictably cooler on the water?

Our family is doing a Rhine cruise the first week of September 2021 (fingers crossed).
When I was looking up historic weather patterns for the places we will be docking, in order to plan what clothing to bring, I wondered how much different the temperatures are when actually cruising on the water. Any guesstimate about how many degrees cooler it is on the river than in town?
