I chose 2:00PM for our embarkation time. We are non rockstars. This is our third time sailing from San Juan. Yes you can drop off luggage earlier and enjoy the city. We’ve done it both times we sailed previously. We head down and grab some last minute items from the store, have breakfast and then work our way to the ship. It’s the most chill embarkation you will have.

You drop luggage off at the port and they hold it for you? We are flying in at 6:30am and could be there as early as 7:30am. Any idea of how early the luggage porters are available to hold luggage? TIA

  2. We just went through the same crazy pricing trying to book June 11, 2024 12 night on the Jewel. As a couple we could book an inside room with clearance pricing for $2302 total for 2 or a balcony for 2 for $3760. A single traveler was not offered the clearance pricing and the price for one in the same inside room is $5095, the same balcony room is $8457 for one passenger. So we booked a room for our daughter who will travel alone but put two people in the room and will have the second passenger get sick before sailing and be a no show. Crazy how you have to play the system. All pricing in USD.

  3. Thank you everyone for the information. Vince_g, Casofilia and Two Wheels Only - I think you are spot on with your interpretations of what the quote is referring to!  I knew I could count on Cruise Critic peeps!!!

  4. We are sailing in October on the Getaway and booked with the Free at Sea dining package. In our paperwork that states "

    • Free at Sea choice(s) must be selected at least 24 hours prior to sailing and cannot be changed on board. " Has anyone else done this? I made reservations at restaurants, but it doesn't connect anything to the Free at Sea dining package and those pre-booking requirements. And the reservations are for people from 3 different rooms, but only our room has the reservation connected to it.  Do we just show up and let the restaurant know about the Free at Sea dining?  Also, can Cagney's outside area be reserved ahead of time or just when we get on the ship? Thanks for any info.

I am Asian (Chinese) and I am a little worried about our upcoming cruise on the Voyager in July. We are expecting mostly local passengers and are preparing ourselves for a very different experience from our previous 33 cruises. Will try to enjoy the cruise no matter what.

We just booked a July cruise out of Hong Kong and am bracing myself for the pushing and rudeness we experienced while touring China mainland. Hoping there is a good mix of nationalities, many with kinder, gentler personalities.

  6. We were just on the Sun and did not receive any debarkation information in our room. Our friends (on another floor) hadn't received anything either.  We went to the front desk to ask questions about what times and locations would be open for breakfast, what time to set out luggage, and what time to be out of stateroom. The agents at the desk weren't sure, had to ask each other and generally didn't seem to be confident of their answers. We asked why this information wasn't given out. The agents told us we were given the information; that a information sheet was given out the night before in our stateroom. Finally after much discussion, the front desk handed us the information sheet (which, by the way, had slightly different information then what they had been telling us). Why did they not hand us the paper when we initially asked, I'll never know. But they still argued that we had received it. Training regarding customer care is definitely in order!

  7. We are currently booked to do a snorkeling excursion on December 12 while in Cabo San Lucas. The excursion starts at 9 am and last 3 1/2 hours. Looking into the water temperatures and air temperatures, I am rethinking our decision. Can anyone tell me if they have snorkeled in Cabo in mid-December and how chilly it is? We like to snorkel, but morning temperatures of both the air and water make me want to just lay on a beach instead. Thoughts?

  8. Just got off the Regal on Sunday. I didn't participate, but did notice in the daily activities there were assigned times each day to meet up with solo/single travelers as well as LGBT cruisers. In different bars I believe. BTW, hubby and I went on the 3.5 hour St Martin catamaran with unlimited rum punch and had a great time. Snorkeling was not great (just a few fish) but sailed around to where the planes fly right over you than onto a beach area where we jumped in the ocean and swam ashore. Nice time, only $85 and we were gone over 4 hours.

  9. Just a couple quick questions before we board in 3!!! days - I thought a saw someone says something about breakfast at Sabatini's, is that true? I thought they were only open for dinner. What is Calypso Cove? Also, we enjoy playing board games, is there outside seating with tables on the Promenade deck between the life boats and aft outside of the Vista Lounge? Thank you!

  10. Wow, my original question was regarding if we'd have to pay for internet service to check-in for our flight or if Passenger Services desk helps. I appreciate the info regarding that question.

I find it interesting how some people criticize me for being too cheap to get Early Boarding and others offer advice on how to get a boarding pass at the airport.

  11. Our return flight after the cruise is on Southwest. If you don't check-in exactly 24 hours in advance you are stuck with middle seats in the back of the plane. Is there an opportunity to check-in for our return flight while on the cruise besides purchasing internet time? Does the Passenger Services desk help?
