Yikes looks like there is a tropical storm in the Bahamas this week! I hope it's gone by the weekend. [emoji53]
It will be well beyond Florida and the Bahamas by early morning Wednesday (1 / 2am)

I don't think we have gotten a definitive answer on this question from those on the Escape, or anywhere else that the new items in the Main Dining Room with an extra charge has started.
Can you use the UDP to cover those charges? It would make sense that they would as the charge only covers the entrée and guests would then choose items that were on the menu in the MDR. Doesn't seem like they would lose anything on the deal.
Anybody with an answer or idea?
The UDP is for speciality restaurants.

Do they ever offer the studio rooms for two people any more?
They did on the Epic in the beginning, but have since stopped that.

Sure. That's their job. Sell product. I would expect nothing less than to get a sales pitch (and probably 2-3 retries to sell product). I politely listen, and decline the offer.
Heck, I get a sales pitch when I go to get my hair cut. I politely listen, and decline the offer.
Heck, when I go to McDonalds, I get the upsell pitch to add an apple pie to my order.
Nothing to get upset about, these folks are just doing their jobs. Let them do their jobs. And if you don't need the products, just decline the offer,,,, don't get nasty.
I have written on the intake form "no sales" for years, and have never had an issue. I am there to relax. I am paying to relax. The last thing I want to hear is a sales pitch. Luckily for them, my wishes have been respected.

I just got off the phone with an NCL agent. I was asking about my stateroom on my 11/28 Escape cruise. She told me she just saw the Escape in Miami and it was a beautiful ship. When I told her I thought it was still in the Atlantic she assured me it's in Miami now!!! LOL
Oh good grief  LOL

There were tables for 2 in the Supper Club but we were led to a long table which was one table away from the stage so we were seated with other people - as it was such a prime location, we didn't mind!
It does state that you may be seated with others for the Supper Club.
I figured, but thought I'd ask. Thank you!
-
You are never made to sit with others on NCL (except at Teppenyaki but that's the nature of the experience) You can ask for a table to share if you like. Sometimes that gets you seated faster
Not true at all. This is a dinner theater - hence the question.
-
Are you made to sit with other people, or can you have your own table?

Escape's Spice wins from Epic for me! :) I might even rebook my upcoming Epic cruise..
Wow - this is huge because I love Spice on Epic!

Whole lobster was most certainly served in the dining room on cruises years ago. You also had your own deck chair assigned to you for the duration of the cruise, as well as your own deck attendant. Many things were different on cruises years ago.

Actually, the prices are cheaper in the MDR ($19.99 for whole lobster, $24.99 for surf & turf). At Cagney's on Escape, both of these cost $25 (and the surf & turf only comes with a 5oz filet mignon, not 8oz). At Le Bistro, the lobster is $24.99 and it's a roasted tail, not a steamed whole lobster. Of course I understand why these two specialty restaurants charge more (because people feel that the preparation and service are worth more), I'm just pointing out that if your main goal is just to eat lobster on board, the new à la carte option in the MDR is a good thing.
Again, this is only about the lobster. I will wait for more information before forming an opinion about the prime rib. :)
I wish it was bigger. For a 2-pounder, I'd probably go for it.
-
I don't think the serving was 16 oz though. That's a big hunk of meat.... And maybe it is a better cut?
I don't think I would order the a la carte, as the portions are too big, but for people who really miss "lobster night", maybe this is better than not being able to get it at all?
I actually prefer this approach rather than them raising the price of a cruise for everyone, to be able to serve lobster even to people that don't want it.
I wouldn't spend $20 on a 1 and 1/4 - 1.5 pound lobster ... that's tiny, but who knows. I guess if I really had a hankering for it I would. :D

Just saw a post in one of the Escape threads showing prices for Ala Carte items in the main dinning room. Tacky NCL, very tachy :(
I posted it. LrgPizza emailed it to me. It is true ... and yes, tacky.

Not sure why you think you could get US prices when you do not reside in the US

I'd really like to see what the balance of the menu looks like (non-extra charge items). Any chance you can snap a photo?
I'm getting the feeling NLC has created a new racquet for themselves.
Thanks for the updates!
I will ask her to send one to me.

Thank you for the info.
It's interesting to see that they will be offering ala carte options in the main dining rooms. Hopefully that balance of the menu is still decent. Otherwise I feel like if you want something better, you have to pay extra. Hopefully that's not the case. When I was on the Epic, the prime rib dinner was included. I would think that was the same scenario on the Away ships, no?
Prime rib has always been included. I'm a little shocked that they are now charging for it.
-
I'm sure this will cause a fair amount of controversy, but it is nice to have choices like this IMHO. You have the free fare, along with some upcharge choices. I assume this was not the menu in its entirety?
Those of us who have been cruising for a long time remember when whole lobster and filet mignon was an included part of dinner. I disagree with you about the choices. With the increases NCL has instituted for their crusing fares, this is pretty much a slap in the face. My opinion, of course. Still, I admit if I am in the MDR and want lobster, I will order it despite the charge.

It's the extra charge items in the MDR.

So when you say "MDR" are you referring to the Main Dining Room and if so, which one?
MDR means main dining room, yes. I have no idea which one she was in at the moment. Can't imagine it would be any different regardless of which MDR they were in.

From LrgPizza. Pay items on the MDR menu.

Is there a benefit to pre-ordering internet?
I have never heard of anyone being exempt from Muster just because they were on a B2B. We are quite familiar with clueless service desk staff, however.
It's a little cheaper. I pre-ordered it for my 3-day next month.

Wow - that's cool. There's always someone who forgets to turn it off, so I'm ok with no light on the balcony!
