The cruise terminal is about 10 miles from the airport. There are several hotels just outside the airport with restaurants within walking distance.... not too much to do right there as far as entertainment though.

Lv2Doula,
I see from your profile that you are in South Carolina. Assuming that you are driving in at least a day early, the Park and Cruise options offered could be the best way to go,,, We have done this many times. Last month, cruised out of Tampa. Stayed at a Marriott Courtyard for $99. Included free parking for the cruise, free shuttle to port (round trip) and breakfast as well. Parking alone at Port of Tampa would have been $ 120! Google Park and Cruise Hotels Port Canaveral and compare. Don't forget to read the reviews.

I just got back from a Carnival trip to Cozumel. We had a 20 can vinyl cooler with plastic insert that they sell at Walmart/Target etc. Used it as a toiletries carry on, then as a cooler during the cruise. Our snorkeling excursion in Coz didnt include food, so we ordered sandwiches/ cookies and bananas from room serviceand took them on the trip. No one checked anything walking off or back on the ship. ( brought back some extra beers that I purchased in Cozumel. Bring several large zip lock baggies and you should be good to go....

I just booked the Boardwalk balcony, Deck 9, on Oasis. What is this "secret" balcony of which you speak?
Thanks

... and the local islander with bad intentions thinks to himself.." Hmmm, what do we have here...middle aged sunburned couple in the worlds ugliest tropical print shirts, carrying excessive number of t-shirt filled bags, taking pictures of rocks and trees, thinking they look good sipping a blue drink while a paper umbrella jabs at their nose. Could they be tourists? I'm not really sure.... Ohhhh, hey mon, I SEE A LANYARD!!!! NOW I KNOW FOR SURE!!

I have a boardwalk balcony ( 1st time) for a Nov 1 cruise.... I could let you know how it is. My assumption of the advantages and why I booked it:
1. New experience vs Ocean View
2. I am 7 cabins from the end of aft, so we will still have a pretty good ocean view...
3. Can watch the Aqua theater shows from the balcony...
4. Less wind??? Maybe good, maybe bad
