we have not sailed with Princess for 10 years. No reason but we are planning a trip in August 2020

beacause of the intinery. My question we need one more credit to become Elite and are the benefits

really much different. Sorry if this has been covered before.

I don't want to be too controversial here but you are about to get Elite yet have not travelled Princess for 10 years - I am just a little perplexed that this is "loyalty"??. Personally I think the Carnival system is wrong (not your fault) and perhaps unfair.

  2. Feedback for the website - I'm currently traveling in Germany so I'm accessing the website thru a German ISP, so the website comes up ONLY in German with no option for English - at least I don't see it. My recommendation is to have other language options other than the local nationality.

    Just my opinion.....[/quote

Several possibilities exist to change your ISP if you wish.

  3.

A number of posters thereafter mentioned a narrow group of religious figures important to specific faiths, however this may be totally inappropriate to many including people of other religions and also athiests and agnostics.

    Regards John

My studies of Pastoral Care (although maybe rooted in pastoral theology) are not restricted in its application to a specific faith or religion. I suppose the reason religious persons have been referenced is that they are trained in pastoral care in general.

Quote: "Pastoral care is an ancient model of emotional and spiritual support that can be found in all cultures and traditions."

  4. Just called to ask about Trans-Atlantic in 2017. Fares are considerably higher than what I paid this year. Is there a better time to find good fares? Are fares prices the same from the UK as from the US? I was shocked to meet a passenger who had paid only £499 from Southampton to New York with air fare back included. Where can I find these fares?

So that is about £71 per day. Queen Victoria was offering a very similar daily price for its January sailing to FLL. I think the prices are there but you need to keep a look out and possibly wait for the right time just as Lanky Lad suggested. The sterling value to the US dollar won't help.

  5. I don't know much about this except that a friend of mine ( a retired Anglican vicar) does spend occasional time on cruise ships in an official capacity. He has told me that a fair proportion of his work relates to the crew and it seems logical to me that there must be someone on board to offer pastoral care both to the crew and passengers.

  6. I am sorry but I disagree. Common sense tells me that the very moment I do not have a clear sight to the sea, the view is obstructed, no matter whether it's a lifeboat, machinery, spare parts or anything else that reduces the sight.

It is funny that in-hull cabins on decks 4, 5 and 6 on QM2 are now marked to have obstructed views . No matter what they are called, I prefer them.

Sorry too, (on your "common sense" basis the majority of Queens Grill suites on QM2 (deck 9) are obstructed view!!??) - but which in hull/sheltered Britannia cabins are designated obstructed view?. I thought all obstructed view on QM2 were on deck 8.

  7. I have just returned from a cruise on QE. I booked it at the last minute (delayed because of a friend's ill-health) and ended up with a BB balcony. I thought that sounded rather good. Well, perhaps it is a good room on other levels but not on deck 5!

I was in room 5057. The first thing I found was that I could see the big orange lifeboat from the balcony and from that side of my room. Being Winter and not balcony weather, that did not worry me too much. However, I was surprised that the second top category of balcony had such an obtrusive sight.

5057 is not advertised as an obstructed view and if you check out the Cunard website you can see the top of the lifeboat concerned from the window of 4057 below so I am surprised at the level of disappointment - after all the Queens Grill Q5's on the QM2 are in a similar position in relation to the lifeboats.

  8.

There's no Chart Room anywhere on QE and the photo gallery is still going strong. I can't see the photo gallery going on QV. It'll be interesting to see if they really do magic some space somewhere!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Well the new deck plans show the photo gallery (Images) exactly as it is now - but I suppose there is still time to change that.

  9. Can anyone tell me how Cunard handles requests for Business Class Air from the US to London?

Not sure if their Air Dept uses bulk rates, or just the standard fare that I could purchase on my own.

Any information regarding pricing / routing would be appreciated. We would be leaving from Dallas Forth Worth (DFW Airport) if that helps.

Thanks for any information you could provide.

I think the only way is to ask for a quote, In my experience they are very competitive.

  10. Used to be the old 30 pin which was great, fitted my iPod.

Aboard QE now and they are lightning connector. The butler went off to see if he could find an adaptor but no joy. However, there's an old-school 3.5mm jack lead hanging out of the back, so you can play via the earphone socket but not charge.

For info also, the DVD player has now gone but I got one installed. However, the TVs are now Samsung Smart models so you can mirror a laptop (or possibly an iPad??) screen direct to the TV.

Let me know if there's anything else you need while I'm here.

p.s. It's a Bose Sound Dock Series III. Lightning only.

    .

Bit of a late response but THANK YOU.

  11. When does an Early Saver Fare no longer become Early?

I'm looking at a couple of cruises on the Queen Victoria. One is June and the other late October.

I think it is when Cunard decide. As said many many times on this board - you buy when the terms are acceptable to you and then try to ignore any changes in those terms.

  12. Thank you for your reply, We ended up booking the BD GTY,What do you mean by a sheltered Balcony? What category don't have a sheltered Balcony?

New to cunard so not sure which ones are sheltered and which ones aren't?

Sheltered balcony cabins are "in hull" and are not glass fronted. On QV and QE they are BF grade on deck 4, 4001 up to cabin 4042. BD cabins are aft on 5,6,7, so you will not get a sheltered cabin for sure.

  13. Hi I am trying to find out the sectors of 2018: QM2 cruise M803D that take in NZ and AUS and Singapore,Travel agent said to look on website but I have and cant see anywhere that it tells you. Can someone please help?

    I think the sectors are:

    New York, Southampton, Capetown, Fremantle,

    Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane,

    Singapore, Hong Kong, Singapore,

    Dubai, Southampton, New York.

  14. "We also ended up buying a litre bottle of Gordon's gin for the cabin as at less than €12 it seemed rude not to"..................

Were you able to 'smuggle' it onboard for your cabin use, or was it taken from you as is the 'norm' and to be handed back to you on the last night?

Certainly not the "norm" on Cunard - take a case of Champagne on board if you wish.

  15. Can someone please advise if the Queens Grill suites on the Queen Elizabeth still have the BOSE docking stations with the apple connection. If so, are they still the old 30 pin connection or the new lightening connection.

    Thank you in advance.

  16. Q1 is the Grand Duplex, do you know if the entry lever Queen's Grill Suite Q7 also has a nice dining area in the suite and on the balcony?

Q4's have a smaller dining table for 4 ( I presume you could get an extra chair) and you could have an adjacent Q5 but I do not believe they are interconnecting, although you could do that through the balcony arrangement. Q7's are essentially for wheelchair accessible.

  17. Since you have experienced everything from Britannia to the Queens Grill experience, what would you recommend for a family of five? We are looking at the Queen Mary 2 World Cruise and want to make sure we pick the right category. We need connecting rooms and will want to have dinner in our room on occasion.

A couple of adjacent Aft Q1 suites would be ideal - they have interconnecting doors and a lovely dining area both in the suite and out on the balcony.

  18. Hi,

Am curious to learn your experiences with online booking at Cunard, or via a travel agent. Just wondering what might be more advantageous, i.e. getting the best price

    Cheers,

    V.

If you are booking a "package" with some flight(s) and/or hotel it is worth getting a TA to quote. I find Cunard Hotel prices to be quite high and not easy to get specific room grades. That said, Cunard also have good flight prices and it is worth phoning them for flight upgrade (PE or Business) prices because I have found them quite good in the past.
