  1. We went on the Magic just about a year ago. We spent the night in Galveston, and when we woke up, yep, it was foggy. Time came to check out of the motel, and still no ship. So, we paid for another night, just in case. Shortly after we booked another night, the ship came in. Well, so it cost us an extra night, but, at least we had a place to stay for a few hours until we could go to the parking lot. We finally boarded about 5:30, went right to the main dining room and had dinner. It was excellent. Right after dinner we had the muster drill, right in the dining room, so we didn't even have to leave. When we came back to port a week later, same thing, only in reverse. We didn't even dock until about 7 in the evening, and it was still a bit foggy. We decided to spend the night in Galveston rather than drive home like we usually do. It was a bit anxious there for a bit, but everything worked out alright. I'm a worry wart myself, but I managed O.K. We loved the cruise. We thought the food on the Magic was the best we have had on any cruise in the last 10 or 12 years. Have a good time.

  2. My wife and I took a cruise this last January. We went to Galveston a day early and spent the night in Galveston. I woke up in the morning, and yep, foggy. We got a message from Carnival that the ship was out in the gulf, waiting for the fog to lift and not to come to the terminal until we were told to. At two in the afternoon, the ship still wasn't there so, we booked another night at the hotel, just in case. Shortly after we booked the room, the fog lifted, and the ship came into port. We finally got to board it about eight in the evening. Coming back to Houston, the same thing. The port was closed due to fog, and we didn't get off the ship until about eight in the evening again. We didn't want to drive home in the fog that night, so, we booked a night in the hotel and left the next morning.

  3. There will be some sort of show every night. There will likely be two different production shows with singers, dancers, and a live orchestra. Other nights will be various headliners, like comedians, magicians, singers, jugglers, etc. One night (and probably afternoon) will be the ice show. There will also be Love & Marriage and Quest.

Thanks for the prompt reply. That is what we are hoping for. We have seen the ice show a couple of times on the Voyager. And, the Love&Marriage and the Quest are always very funny.

  4. We are leaving this Sunday for a cruise on the Navigator. I'm just wondering, how is the entertainment on the Navigator? Do they have shows in the theater after dinner every day? And, what kind of shows do they usually have. My wife and I were on the Carnival Magic this last February, and, they didn't even have a show every night. Just wondering what we can expect.

  5. They dispense in tickets instead of cash and you must redeem at cashier assuming the automatic redeemer machine is still not functioning. 2 weeks ago it was only a bill breaker.

My wife's not going to like that. She likes to hear the coins clatter down the chute. She usually does just a little better than break even. As long as she doesn't lose too much, she has fun.

  6. Forgive me if this question has been asked before. We are leaving on the Navigator of the Seas in a couple of weeks. My wife likes the slot machines, and she was wondering if they use quarters, or do you have to use your sea pass? Thanks in advance for any information.

  7. My wife and I have sailed on both, and we preferred RCCL. Then this last February, we sailed on the Carnival Magic. We are leaving on the RCCL Navigator the first week in September. All I can say is that RCCL is going to be pressed to be better than the Carnival Magic. They had the best food that we have ever had on any cruise. The entertainment left something to be desired however. I'm anxious for our Navigator cruise so I can compare them again.

  8. When your e-doc's are issued there will be a page there with the luggage tag you can print out, fold & attach to your luggage...the Porter's WILL have tags at the pier...and can quickly write your cabin # on your tag & you will be set to go as well...

Thank you for your prompt answer. But, I printed out my set sail pass. There was just a picture of the luggage tag, but it said, that it was NOT the luggage tag to use. I got nothing else. I guess I'll just have to wait till we get to the pier. Last time, we printed out luggage tags, just folded them three times, and stapled them to our luggage. I didn't get that this time.

  9. This may be a kind of stupid question, but, we are leaving on the Navigator out of Galveston in August. I know I have plenty of time, but I like to have a good idea of what is going on. Since all of our documents are sent electronically now, where do we get our luggage tags? I asked the RCCl rep on the phone when I booked the cruise, and she said that the porters will print them out for us. Is that right? It sure doesn't sound very efficient to me.

  10. We were on the Magic last month, and we didn't see any sushi. I asked and they said they didn't have it anymore. There was an electric sign, "Sushi and more", but they said that they used to serve it but no more

  11. My wife and I had My Time Dining on the Carnival Magic, Feb. 2 through 9 of this year. The line for the restaurant started forming at least 20 minutes before the door opened. My wife and I were usually toward the front of the line. We had excellent wait staff the first night, so, we asked for, and always got a table for two with our favorite wait staff. We really didn't mind the wait to get what we wanted, so, I'd choose My Time Dining again. The Restaurant opened at 5:30 and we were always in line by 5:15 at the latest. They did seat the people pretty fast though.

  12. My wife and I did the Magic cruise Feb. 2 of this year. The Magic is a beautiful ship, and the food was about the best that we have ever had. The room attendants and the wait staff in the restaurant were as good as any we have had on any line. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that cruise at all.

  13. Maybe I wasn't clear in my first post. The ship is delayed. We are not ABLE to board until 2:30. They just got into port about 5 minutes ago and haven't even started disembarking. Carnival does, in fact, reimburse for lunch if your ship arrives to the port late. In fact, last week's Magic cruise was refunded for lunch, but they boarded much later. I'm just wondering at what embarkation time do they refund lunch money. A girl can hope for a few extra DODs, can't she :)?

We were on the Magic Feb.2 till Feb. 9. On Feb. 2, we didn't even get on board until after six in the afternoon. So, we missed lunch but Carnival never said anything about a refund, and, I never heard of anybody asking for it. We didn't get into port the following Sunday until about 4:30, so we made up for it then.

  14. The Carnival MAGIC just left about an hour ago. They were stuck in Galveston all night because of the fog. We were on the Magic and it didn't dock until about 4:30 P.M. Getting off was a real drag. I doubt if the ship was totally empty before 10 or 11. From what I understand, that was pretty unusual. Other than that, the MAGIC is a fantastic ship. The food was the best we have had in any of the cruises we have taken.

  15. My wife and I haven't been able to cruise for the last three years. Her son was very ill and we had to take care of him. Unfortunately he passed away last fall. Of course that was very hard on my wife, so, just to get away for a while we are going on the Magic leaving Houston on Feb. 2. Are there any quarter machines left, or do you have to use your key card to play the slots. My wife likes to play the slots, not a lot, but she has a jar full of quarters she wants to use.

  16. My wife and I haven't been able to cruise for the last three years because of severe illness in the family. Unfortunately, her son passed away this fall, and now we are able to go again. I wish it could have been under different circumstances but I just booked a cruise on the Carnival Magic leaving Feb. 2. We couldn't get early dining, so I signed up for my time dining. Is this a separate restaurant? And if so, where is it. Sorry about a simple question like this, but I'd really like to know before we leave. And do they have the same menus as the main dining room. Thanks in advance.
