  1. For the 'up to 30 pieces' Elite coupon, you have to send them all at once, correct?

I'll also doing this sailing and having never sailed that long before, trying to wrap my head around packing for this long.

We are also going on this cruise around Cape Horn January 4 th. (2nd time) Take half of what you think you will need. Layers work very well. The forecast is actually looking pretty warm - maybe even 50. Last time we had some snow on the ship. Very pretty!

  2. Kathy. I posted the following on our March 3 Roll Call.

If you have Travel Insurance through an outside agency (rather than through Azamara) and do not need to place a claim for this cruise since Azamara will be reimbursing most costs, you might check on modifying the policy and using it for another date.

Our policy was through Travel Guard. Since we only have 3 costs that need reimbursement (Air Cancellation Fee, Hotel Cancellation Fee, China Visas) - all of which should be reimbursed by Azamara, I checked with Travel Guard and was able to modify the dates on our policy to the dates of the next cruise that we plan to book with Azamara (with our Future Cruise Certificate). Travel Guard allows modification up until the date that you are scheduled to return from your cruise. I don't know about other travel policies, but it might be worthwhile to check on if you are not placing a claim.

The gal that I talked with walked me through the procedure which is done on line. Just go to the Travel Guard website. From the pull-down menu, choose "modify policy". Fill out the top section and then check the section for "change in travel dates" and then put in your new dates. (You can do likewise for any other parts of the policy that will change.) Then hit submit at the bottom of the page. I received a confirmation of our modification the following day.

Just read your post and glad to see this worked for you, too!

  3. I believe in the US my Travel Guard Insurance will pick up un-reimbursed costs ...but AZ should cover the cost of the policy which was over 600 US dollars.

Due to this being totally AZ "fault" we should not have any expenses for a trip that we are not taking! I guess it could be worse after reading the posts from people that are in Shanghai already and the lack of communication form AZ they have had.

    Enjoy your trip Ann .....

IF Azamara does not reimburse he cost of the policy ( seems doubtful?) and IF Travelguard will not have to pay any expenses, talk to them about applying the cost of the policy to a future cruise. I have had some success doing this in a sort of similar situation and it doesn't hurt to ask. It was outside your control.

  4. Could some of you experienced Avalon cruisers tell a newbie how dressy dinners will be? Do woman wear dresses? Should my husband bring a sport coat?

Thanks for sharing your experiences. We are about to pack for a May 22nd Rhine cruise leaving from Basel.

  5. SHIP: Equinox

    CABIN #: 1631

    DECK #: 11

    CLASS: AQ

AREA: TOWARDS AFT ON PORT SIDE

    BED NEAR: VERANDA

    QUIET?: YES

BALCONY VIEW: No obstructions but does have overhang above

    BALCONY SIZE: REGULAR

    WIND A PROBLEM?: NO

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: NO

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Great cabin. No complaints. Would book it again. Important to us to have other cabins above and below rather than being in AQ at the front of the ship under the pool deck and spa.

  6. Please feel free to jump off your soap box whenever you are ready! It is disturbing to me that you sit yourself on such a high pedestal and judge others so acrimoniously. The rambling psychobable is moderately amusing but has a modicum of hypocrisy sprinkled throughout. Please save your sanctimonious squalor for someone and somewhere else. It really has no place on a blog about Cruises and Cruise boats. Find a more suitabe forum. Lastly, the drinks have been paid for, therefore nothing is being stolen. No different than buying a plate at an all-you-can-eat salad bar and giving your wife a slice of cucumber off your plate. Are you supposed to do that?? No! Is it a stealing?? No! Is it a crime?? Definitely not!!! Find some perspective jg...you cant' paint everything with one large sweeping brush stroke.

    Amen

  7. You are exactly right, thank you!

I found out WHY I can't find any ports of call on Sao Miguel. It is because only repositioning ships stop there. This makes it more difficult to find a cruise because most lines only "reposition" once per year. RCI says they do this once a year - in October or November. It is a one way cruise from Southhampton to Miami.

I am still working on other lines!

My great-grandparents immigrated from this island - and it has always been a dream to stand in the church there.

I hope you realize your dream! I found these RC cruises stopping there. The town is Ponta Delgada http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/search/linkSearchResult.do;jsessionid=00003M65sPV0QOEAzeVP22ywTtq:12hbiocak?location=PDL

    Good luck!

  8.

Due to using American Airline Frequent Flyer miles, we could not do a single day return flight arrangement to Columbus, Ohio.

Now it’s getting ready for our 12:50 pm American Airlines flight back to Chicago and then Columbus

    THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Truly enjoyed the commentary and fabulous photos, Terry. Safe travels home through our fair city today!

  9. Terry and duct tape -

I can just tell how much fun you are having! Terry's photos are fabulous (as usual) and make me feel as if I am with you. We have never been on the Cloud, or on your itinerary, so we will be anxiously watching this thread and the photos.

Thanks for taking time from your anxiously awaited vacations to share with the rest of us! Enjoy it all!

    Patty

Terry - nice job on the balcony! I'm sure that MADE your wife's birthday even if it was a minor inconvenience to make the move. (I guess the ship is not quite at capacity after all?)

  10. ... a happy camper (cruiser!) over this "gift" from Celebrity.

It must be, as scf1270 said, that C3s just "don't get a lot of love" and don't sell well without extra incentive. I'll take it! :)

  11. I appreciate all 3 responses.

Again, we are new to Celebrity but we are experienced cruisers and this is the oddest pricing on any cruise, on any line, I have ever taken. That is what made me "suspicious" and ask the original question about how good or bad cabin 1150 on Equinox would be. The price we got for this C3 cabin is only $150pp more than an 09 INSIDE cabin. Price was the same as 08 (no balcony) and 2B and LESS than 07 (no balcony), LESS than 2A, 1C and 1B (all with balcony but no concierge) Very odd!

I guess I will just consider ourselves lucky and be very happy with our cabin and price! Now we will go for the drinks package, too! :)

  12. There doesn't seem to be much information on the Equinox C3 cabins. This is our first time on Celebrity. We are booked in 1150 on Dec 27th at a great price with a resident discount. Does anyone know of anything wrong with it? Thanks for any help.

Also, does anyone know of a particularly good C3 cabin - there are quite a few to pick from.
