I was able to use my Android phone as a hotspot and run my tablet off of that. I think that only works with Android phones. I did upgrade the free Browse package to Browse and Stream once on board and it was an extra $5 a day.

Oh, good to know. Thanks for sharing.

Bringing non-elite travel companions to the breakfast only applies to those sharing a cabin with you correct?  My husband and I are elite and next cruise we are traveling with my mother-in-law who is not elite and will be in a separate cabin.  I thought we would not be able to bring her.

I was on Apex this month. My travel companion, not an Elite, sharing my cabin was not allowed to go to the breakfast at Le Grand Bistro.

  3. It'll be my first time on an Edge class ship for a 7-night Caribbean cruise.

    I have 6:00 pm dinning.

Do I stick to the assigned MDR every night?

There are slight differences on the menu of each MDR and I want to try them all.

    How can that be arranged?

    Thanks for your insight.

  4. Really appreciate your taking the time to share your vacation.

I'll be going on this itinerary on Apex soon.

On which day is the first formal dinner? Is it on Day 3 at sea?

I have selected first seating for dinner.

I noticed there are 4 MDRs with slightly different menus.

Do I rotate among them during the 7 nights? How do I get the same server?

    Thanks a lot.

  5. I'll be travelling on Apex in December.

    I have the questions below:

    - Can I bring my travel companion (not an elite member) to the daily cocktail hours 5:00 -7:00 p.m.?

    - After using up 90 minutes of free Wi-Fi, can I purchase Wi-Fi at 30% off?

    - Does the exclusive daily breakfast come with fresh juices? Where will it be and what time?

    - Is there any complimentary access to the Spa?

Not relating to Elite status, does Apex have sidewalk sale nightly that's good for buying souvenirs & costume jewelry? Are there only high-end stores?

Thank you so much in advance.

Based on my experience with taxi service at Cape Liberty December 2021, I would advise Uber.

Once you clear facial recognition in the terminal, you will exit the building to the left. Once outside, go right to the numbered zones for car ride services. There will be overhead numbered signs (2 -10) for the zone location. This is where you will meet Uber. There are a few benches in these zones to wait until the driver arrives.

If you use taxi, after clearing facial recognition and despite signs pointing exit to the left, exit to the right towards the parking garage as this is the shortest walking route to the taxi pick up lot. Depending on the time you disembark it may be very crowded outside as there are multiple lines of cruisers paying for parking and then another line to use the elevator. Walking close to the terminal building is best to avoid the lines. Head towards the road. By the glass door entrance of the parking garage you will notice a crosswalk in the road near the glass doors, you must use this crosswalk and 1 more to get to the vacant lot used for taxi service.

It was not well organized in December despite a dispatcher in the lot assigning cruisers to cabs My wait was 10-15 minutes, some had been waiting 30 minutes and were left waiting while my taxi took off. Pre covid it was better organized.

On boarding day it would be best to check with traffic personnel outside of the terminal if taxi service is still located in the lot across from zone 10. Archie's Cab in Bayonne services the cruise port. Maybe check with them if they are allowed to pick up disembarking passengers, what their fee is to EWR and if they can meet you at a specific time on disembarkation at zones 2 through 10, otherwise use Uber. Expect to pay a surcharge on disembarking due to heavy demand.

Likely your wait time will be longer for the Uber/taxi than the drive time to EWR.

Thank you so much for the detailed information. 🙏

It is doable without self assist. There should be no traffic on a Sunday from the cruise port to EWR. How are you getting from the cruise port to EWR?

Thank you. Either Uber or a cab. Any suggestions is appreciated as I am traveling with a senior.

  8. 3 of us will arrive EWR on Saturday late afternoon.

We'll have dinner after arrival in EWR.

Here are our choices for hotel:

    1. Courtyard Newark Liberty International,

    2. Springhill Suites Newark Liberty,

    3. Fairfield Inn & Suites Newark Liberty,

    4. Residence Inn Newark,

    5. Courtyard Newark Elizabeth

Which one would be the best for us in terms of safety, easy to get to and to go to Cape Liberty?

Do they offer pick up from EWR or shuttle to Cape Liberty?

Thanks a lot for your comment.
