  1. The fact that you were given a range of prices has more to do with the fact that it depends on where you ship docks as to how much you'll pay. The pier(s) closer to the marina should result in a lower cab fare. There is a sandwich board at the taxi boarding area of each pier with prices to the most popular destinations, as set by the taxi union.

  2. I also replied to Eduardo's first response to the fish feeding issue, (prior to the firing post) commending him for being environmentally aware enough to take steps to correct the situation. Not only is my post gone, but his as well, which is a shame as it was elegantly written.

While the situation at Nachi Cocom is deplorable, I do not have enough time in my day to address all the environmental atrocities in Cozumel... progress in the name of tourism. Fish feeding in the marine park is one I have chosen to address repeatedly:

This is not an attack on Uvas, just my attempt to bring awareness to one particular environmental abuse. As far as this last post, I believe the trip this review is based on pre-dates this whole discussion.

  3. Since this is the third or fourth mention of fish feeding on this thread, I'm hopping out of "lurk-mode" to address this.

All over the island of Cozumel you will find large signs with National Park regulations. The National Park includes most of the west coast, all of the south coast and the southern half of the east coast. There is no question that this beach club, along with most that you would visit as cruiseship passengers, falls within the jurisdiction of the National Park.

On these very large signs, it has been made clear that feeding the fish is against park regulations. There's a reason for this. Cozumel is home to one of the most beautiful reef systems in the world. Most people who currently live on this planet will not see it. How fortunate that you have the opportunity to do so! How unfortunate that in doing so you put at risk the ability for future generations to see this natural wonder.

PLEASE DON'T FEED THE FISH! Please do not encourage others to do so. Put aside the fact that it is against regulations, and keep in mind that this delicate underwater ecosystem is not a playground, it is a living organism. It has its own rhythms and cycles. By feeding the fish you disrupt the cycle and DO HARM!

So please, by all means, go to Playa Uvas and tell them you do not appreciate their interference with the delicate balance of life they profit from. And if you see this happening anywhere else, tell them the same thing. Wouldn't it be great if you could bring your granchildren to Cozumel some day and show them the fish?

  4. September is pot luck month... you just don't know what you'll get! If it rains, it generally doesn't rain all day. If it's nice, you'll have paradise (as in the island, as well as the beach) all to yourself. September and October are low months here in Cozumel and we are always delighted to have visitors. September is kiddingly referred to as "Septiambre", a mixture of the words "September" and "hunger", as it can be a difficult month for those relying on tips to survive.

So, with that in mind, we really, really, really want to welcome you, in advance, to Cozumel!
