Have to agree, I’ve waded through multiple threads and everything has been covered by others so there’s not much to add. As we tend to use iPads to browse the site I’ve not yet checked it out on our desktop but it’s so mobile unfriendly we’ll just be checking back occasionally to see what improvements are made, if any.

It’s a shame as this forum has provided a wealth of information, the forum app was excellent and provided easy access but I’m not prepared to waste time on the current format.

I am trying to view that way, whilst it might look in parts like the old site, it certainly doesn't perform like it.  Like Riocca its not a positive change especially if you are using it on mobile technology.  Cant be bothered working it out, I will see how it is performing in the next week or so before deciding whether to give up or not.  If the mobile and app issue can be resolved, that will make a huge issue however I read the response on the glitches thread to mean they had it in hand to remove cruise critic from Tapatalk not that they had it in hand to fix it.

Most of the threads on the Report bugs have been removed, as many were critical of the change whilst reporting issues I hope that the removal is only because some one is working on the answers and not for another reason.

Agree with everyone , if it's not broken why not leave it alone . It was fine before .

  2. Have done & looked at all of the above suggestions but I too , cannot find the Amazing Evening for Sept 5th 2018 cruise on Quest which we have just booked .

Appreciate your help please Bonnie , we are really looking forward to it being held in one of the picturesque ports in this itinerary .

    Ann .

  3. Yes Jax , we too love our cruises & also felt no need to pay so much more & would rather spend it on another cruise . Would prefer a window or even porthole would do but doesn't look like it will happen . We sailed last November on an Emirates Cruise in a balcony cabin . Only stepped outside on to it twice as we had so much to see & do .

See you are going on the Discovery , we went on the same boat in November 2016 , fabulous boat , you will love it , going by your dates it's the same as we did in the Caribbean.

We fly from Heathrow on the 16th and we are staying 2 nights at th Novotel on Darling Harbour .

Hope we meet up on the Cruise as I am sure we will have lots to talk about .

    Won't be long now . Ann .

  4. Hi, we are sailing on the Jewel out of Sydney for 18 nights. We booked an inside room through an agent. We don't usually do inside and as the cruise is getting nearer I am stressing about this inside cabin. I rang NCL and because we booked through an agent we have to deal with them for any changes they are not very good and we probably won't use them again.

Has anyone had any experience of upgrading once on board. Doing a dummy booking it looks as though the are sea view and balcony rooms available.

    Thanks

    Hi Jax ,

We are in exactly the same situation as you are on the same Cruise , we have gone all through the same channels that you have including phoning NCL in America & the Uk with the same answers you received.

We probably have booked through the same Travel Agent as you , as we were told by them almost word for word the same that you were when we enquired with ours.

I am sure we will be fine & as someone else has posted we only really sleep in the cabin .

Ann & Richard from the midlands .

  5. I enjoyed your review. I’m on the Jewel next week and visiting most of the ports you did. Some of your private tours sound great. Were these set up through the roll call or did you just contact the company and they put you into a group?

    Hi Karoo ,

Have a look at Robins websight if you are docking at Akaroa ,

We went on his tour when we were in New Zealand 3

years ago and it was the most enjoyable & unique day we have had while being on many previous cruises ,

Can only take 7 people on his Mail Run which makes it a more personal experience .

He takes you with to all the outlying farms & areas where a coach could not reach , delivering mail to all the imaginative & cute different mailboxes , while also taking in views & scenery that are breathtaking .

We stopped on a deserted beach where we had a picnic provided by Robin & his wife . ( home made muffins & preserves included ) , It was an unforgettable day we will never forget , Also excellent reviews on Trip Advisor where I originally found him .

( Eastern Akaroa Mail Run )

Enjoy New Zealand , we loved it .

    Ann .

  6. Have to agree with Jolly Joyce , we have sailed 7 times on Azamara and 3 times Celebrity , on our 5th Azamara cruise we joined 2 seperate couples for dinner and they had both been upgraded , both first time Azamara and 1 had sailed once on Celebrity . The one couple had been upgraded to a continental suite and the other a balcony .

We normally sailed in a balcony stateroom but on this occasion had booked an ocean view , we became very good friends but they felt very embarrassed when they told us about their upgrades and said they felt it was most unfair .

We did not begrudge them their upgrades & we still keep in contact occasionally.

I did contact Nicole and explained we kept seeing Ist timers getting these upgrades and she asked me the date , ship of details of the Cruise I have mentioned . Her reply to me was it was for Business Reasons ???

    Ann .

  7. Hi Denise,

Take a look at ( Eastern Bays Scenic Mail Run ) at AKAROA in New Zealand . We were on Celebrity two years ago , this was before Azamara started going to Australia & New Zealand .

I found this trip with Robin when researching on the Internet for independent tours . I can honestly say this was one of the best & most unique experiences we have ever had on our many cruises we have taken .

He does get very booked up as he can only take eight passengers , we booked 6 months in advance . We will never forget what a great day we had & it was also not expensive .

    Hope this helps . Ann.

  8. I agree with the comments about Russ, but I could not choose between him and Eric de Gray as to who is the best. I am just happy to have sailed with both of them.

We could not agree more with mrMojoRisin , Russ & Eric are both superb in their own individual ways .

    Ann & Richard .

  9. Great itinerary Daniela , the tour guides are usually waiting for the tenders to come in & allow time for this . You should have no problems with Azamara as being a small boat everyone is off fairly quickly . If we have an early start booked we normally have a room service breakfast to save time . You will love Azamara , you have started with the best . Be warned though it becomes addictive . Enjoy your cruise . Ann.

  10. Hi Axita1,

Depends which port you are visiting but we have been on Azamara 6 times to date & tendering has only ever been about 10 - 15 minutes , some have been a little choppy but most fairly smooth . It can be quite a fun & chatty experience .

My Husbands not too good on rough seas but he has never had any problems when tendering .

    Hope this helps , Ann.

  11. Hi Axita1,

We stayed in 4019 on our 1st Azamara cruise 4 years ago as a guarantee cabin.

It was very central to everything & for disembarking for tours etc .

It is an adjoining cabin & we only heard voices from next door on one occasion in the 14 nights we were on board . It is above gangway & tenders & we were woken at 5am once , which was a really juddering noise & very loud , think it was a tender being lowered . Although we had about six days that we tendered we weren't disturbed again & any noise we did hear was at a more reasonable time when we were up & preparing for excursions .

    Hope this helps . Ann.

  12. Hi Kittyluvnurse,

We did this journey in September , very doo able & inexpensive .

They run a free shuttle from the boat , this takes you to the bus depot (approx 10 minutes ) there are buses waiting there , quite easy to see with information boards & fares etc , can have single or return fares which were about 5 euros each return & they run back & forth all day to the station . They wait until they have a few on board then it is about 10 minutes . Drops you outside the Station & ticket office . We found every one very helpful .

It was 10 euros pp return . It was a 90 minute journey into central Rome but there is a faster , non stop train which runs at different times throughout the day which took only 50 minutes . This we caught on return & think it was about 4.15 but the ticket office will give you a timetable , they too were very helpful , I think they are also available on Internet .

The route takes you along the coast so some of it is an interesting journey . Sit on right hand side on outward journey for best views .

On return journey the bus is waiting by the Station .

Lots of people from the boat were doing this journey so don't think you would be on your own but we found it very easy . There will be someone in the reception area on Azamara with all the information , maps , shuttle & train , & Port information if you should need it .

    Hope this helps , Ann.

  13. The taxi industry in St Lucia is regulated and registered taxis can be recognized by a blue number plate starting with "TX". St Lucia is Safe but you may find a few incidents which may occur now and then. Soufrieretours.com company is based in soufriere and can provide you with an in-depth island tour. I also know of Ray Jay taxi Service who have part time police officers as tours guides should security be your main concern.

My Husband & myself have been on Cruise stop on St Lucia once before & have done an Island tour , we would like to go to Pigeon Island on this next stop in 3 weeks time but are not sure about getting there & back . Are there water taxis from the port which we think would be very nice ? Otherwise would Road taxis be reliable & come back for us as we don't want to worry while we are there about getting back to the ship & what would be the charge .?

Any advice would be appreciated . thanks from Ann.

  14. Did I ever think that I would have a chance to hold a harp (surprisingly heavy) and pluck the strings? That chance came on an Azamara cruise several years ago, courtesy of Mary Amanda. Not only did she play classical music and jazz beautifully, she also gave a small concert one afternoon and invited the audience members to come up afterward and see what it was like to hold a harp and pluck the strings.

I may not remember the ports on that cruise, but I remember how personable and approachable Mary Amanda was. She made the cruise special. She is missed.

    We agree.

  15. We think a full length mirror and an over desk / dresser mirror are both essential in every ships stateroom and also in every Hotel room. Also an electrical socket , close enough to plug in appliances without a stretch .

    Ann & friends. ( ladies )
