  1. I have bought the maximum of cruise cash for the cabin ($500.00). A couple of massages will eat away at that quickly so I also bought an additional $100.00 in cruise cash bar. I'm sure I'll get the usual questions like why prepay, why give Carnival an interest free loan, etc. It's likely this will be the only time I do it but it's being done because I'm taking someone who will not spend money on herself. If I say the money is paid and we have to use it or lose it, she will get a massage or facial and splurge on umbrella drinks. So, that said, my question is will Carnival automatically deduct our drinks from the $100.00 cruise cash bar first before taking them from the cruise cash? Thanks in advance!

  2. Just an FYI on combining this code with the 20% and 30% off the first and second treatments for spa cabins. JH says in his posts you can combine with the 20% and 30% off but not the 40% off. I called Carnival today to combine the JH code with the 20% off spa cabin discount. Guest services says you can only get the 20%, 30% and 40% discounts when you book onboard so this combination with the JH code is only good if you sail in the next two weeks since it expires 10/31. I don't sail until November so it won't work for me but is a good deal for those without a spa cabin.

  3. I'm hoping someone has some experience with this. I have booked a spa balcony cabin on a cruise next month and want to book a massage online. I have gone through the checkout and applied the John Heald spa code for the 10% off. It shows that but it doesn't show the 20% off discount which I understand I qualify for on the first treatment by booking a spa cabin. On JH post he says it can be combined with the first and second spa cabin reservation (20% and 30% off) but not if you get third at 40% off. Does anyone know how to make the spa cabin 20% off discount show on an online reservation?

  4. Next month I will be in my first balcony spa cabin (very exciting!). Looking at some reviews it looks like special shampoos and conditioners are offered in these cabins, but these reviews are older. I have never liked the shampoo from the shower dispenser in the regular cabins. Does anyone know if they still offer shampoo & conditioner packs in spa cabins? I'm flying Allegiant so any way I can lighten the weight is welcome!

  5. I wondered the same thing regarding the time until the next cruise. I'm going on the same ship from the same port (Splendor/Miami) but one cruise is this month and the other one is November 2016. I could choose the time for the September cruise but not the November cruise. I figured it was too far in advance.

  6. Sorry, don't have an answer and never been there but I must agree to being fans of the show too! I have been known to load it on Netflix (all reruns to me now and anxiously awaiting new season) during a cold winter night, fix a mai tai complete with cherry and tiny umbrella and dream of cruising. Hope you can find a tour and have a wonderful time!

  7. Can anybody give some advice on this tour? With the cost? What was taxi cost? I can't find them on trip advisor. I saw the sunset sail thread where Thanna had a good experience so that sounds promising. I just haven't gone with an excursion that wasn't on trip advisor before and I'm planning for a group of six so I don't want to disappoint. Any help is welcome. Thanks!

  8. At the end of our first cruise on the Inspiration, we saw the contestants of some sort of teenage beauty pageant boarding - all wearing their state sashes. I don't know if they were cruising or if it was just some kind of photo shoot. I do know that I was glad it was when we were leaving as DH's head was turned 180 degrees! Later, as we were waiting for our shuttle van, we met adorable "celebrities". An elderly Italian couple approached us and asked if we liked the cruise. They were waiting for their " little boy" to come off the ship. Yes, their son was the captain!

  9. I'm going on a girl's cruise in November with some old friends. I've booked a cabin by myself and am doing my best to talk my big sister into joining me in the cabin. She is coming off a very bad divorce that had left her with less cash than she anticipated. I think she will come but will likely penny pinch the whole time. I want her to have a good time and plan to book a couple of excursions for us. Meanwhile, while on board, Cheers purchase would require us to drink much more than we would normally just to break even. Therefore I'm considering getting a $400.00 cash bar credit for the week. My question is does this cover both of us in the cabin (i.e. can she purchase a drink at a bar if I'm not there)? Thanks in advance for answers/experiences.

  10. I read in Carnival's information that platinum guests can get priority seating in the main dining room by meeting with dining room staff when you board. How does this work? If we have 8 people in our group with anytime dining does it mean we don't have to get a pager? Has anyone done this?

  11. On my last cruise in October I had the same question. My passport expired 4.5 months after we returned. I used it to fly to Florida and at the port. No one mentioned it and there were no problems. A couple of months later I renewed it. I got it back in three weeks. This time I got the passport card too that I look forward to using on my cruise next month. When I asked this question back then, the general consensus was using it in the Caribbean wouldn't be a problem but if you fly to parts of Europe there could be problems. Have a great cruise!

  12. We took our daughter's best friend on 3 cruises. This was when they were 15, 16 and 17. I always had a notarized letter signed by both of her parents and of course her passport was always in my possession. I also had her insurance card but thankfully never needed it. I had the letter on me every time (check-in, customs, etc.) but only had any question about her different last name during one check in but nobody ever asked to see the letter. I still made sure to have it on each trip. Better safe than sorry.

  13. Our very first cruise (Inspiration) on the first night out, we picked up a raft of Cubans. I use the word "raft" loosely. Once they were on board the raft was ground up in the ships wake. They were spotted by a cargo ship but that ship didn't have medical facilities and the people were dehydrated and badly sunburned so the Inspiration came to the rescue. I think there were 8-10 people and they stayed on the ship in the crew quarters and the captain gave several announcements throughout the week saying they were improving. On our last night before we left international waters we met with a Coast Guard cutter and they were handed off. Everyone was on deck to wave goodbye & they waved and yelled their thanks. They were all decked out in Carnival t-shirts. We were told they were being taken back to Cuba.

  14. We love Guatemala and have been several times and always book with Gus. His company is "Go with Gus" and he picks you up at the ship dock in his boat and spends the entire day taking you to parts of Guatemala you would never see on other tours. You visit a school (you can take some supplies for the kids if you want), an area that I think is called "Lake of the Lillies"-simply beautiful. These people use boats to get aound not cars so it's not unsual to see them transporting livestock in canoes. There is a general store with lovely boat carvings as well as a lady making homemade tortillas over an open flame (delicious)!. You will visit a restaurant for a traditional lunch and visit the town with beautiful woven tapestries. This has been among our top 3 excursions!! I think Gus visits his son in the US part of the year so I don't know if his tour is available year-round. We have always been in November. What ever you do, be sure to be on deck at sailaway as the locals (dancers & cabbies) give a wonderful send-off not to be forgotten. These are beautiful and friendly people who are proud of their country and really appreciate the tourists. Enjoy!!
