I'm curious to hear from those of you who have already been on a world cruise - what are some big mistakes that you made (or you heard about others making) that could have possibly been prevented in the planning stages.

Thanks - yes, those are the kinds of things I meant. First class airfare is not in my budget, but I'd consider other extras like flowers and champagne. Anyone else have ideas?

My ship doesn't leave till 10pm. Does anyone know if the cruise lines allow you to board the ship, then get off again and explore the port (San Juan)?
