  1. I've done 3 solos-1 sharing a room with someone from my group(like you) and 2 alone. Liked saving almost $1,000 by sharing the room, that really helped. Downfall was the snoring. Bring earplugs, and a noise machine just in case. Don't feel like you and your roomie have to do everything together. This is YOUR vacation.People would ask me'where's Terri?' and I would not know or really care-I was doing MY stuff. I am older than you, too, and used to being alone, so that might be part of it. Look to your FB group for people to hang out with. Don't worry, you will love it!
Thanks for the info :) i plan on joining a lot of thw group activities and doing my owb thing so i don't feel like i have to join my roommate but her family is super nice so I'm sure we may do some things together. Snoring doesn't bother me as im out late anyway and i sleep with headphones and music lol..I'm honestly super excited about this so my worries are minimal:)

  2. I have been cruising solo for about 16 years and would never share a cabin with someone I don't know. Have you met this gal? Have you spoken with her? Have you talked about the logistics of things? Who showers first? Does one of you sleep late while another gets up early? Dinner? Are you eating with the group? Does one or both of you snore? I think all these things should be discussed beforehand. (just my opinion).

I am quite a bit older than you so maybe that is part of it.......but after many years of living on my own, I just can't see sharing a cabin on a ship with someone I don't know.

I do hope you have a good time though.:)

I have not actually met her, but i have talked to her via fb. Her family was the one's who told her i was looking for a roommate and she was part of a big group and hadn't had anyone to room woth either so it worked out. I am actually planning on meeting up with her the night before. We have discussed a majority of the logistics and are still planning. I personally love meeting new people and to me this is like getting a new college roommate for a week lol. It's saving me money and she gets to join her family so it's a win win. This is also a test to see how i feel about cruising on my own as i usually go with family.

  3. Hey all. I will be going on my first "solo" cruise in October on Carnival Vista. I quoted the solo because i am sharing a room with a lady from our cruise fb page.Several of my family members aren't thrilled I'm rooming with a lady from Facebook, but I'm all about new adventures lol. I was wondering if any of you all could offer me tips, tricks, or advice. I am a 25 year old female and this cruise is a part of a large group cruise. I plan on getting travel insurance once we pay the cruise off and right now we have discussed prepaying gratuities. I'd also love to hear your stories from your first solo cruise or cruise with a roommate you didn't personally know.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi all!

I am going on the Breeze in May with my mom out of Galveston. We have run into a slight issue when heading back. Our flight leaves at 8pm out of Hobby and we will get off the ship around 8am. Does anyone know if there is a place that we could store our luggage for a fee if we wanted to explore while we are killing time for our flight? Thanks!

  5. Just got off elation and we stopped in progresso and Cozumel. I will be doing a review this week, but I will say I loved it! In progresso we took the bus and went to the free beach. Well sorta free lol to get a table you would buy from one of the restaurants that own the tables, we went with Tonys and all of us got drinks and they were pretty reasonable. They were very friendly and the beach was pretty nice. One thing that you will notice is that it is nonstop asking if you want a massage or buy something from a booth. One of my friends did the $20 massage and she said it was one of the best she's had.

  6. I just got off elation this morning and while I did not do the chefs table, as a first timer it was perfect! My mom and boyfriend, who have 4 and 6 cruises under their belts on bigger ships, had a great time but would have preferred a bigger ship. I wish I didn't have to leave lol either way they will have a wonderful time!

  7. Take it to you local dry cleaner...most do alterations, and do it pretty well. If all else fails, STUFF!!!! You can probably "enhance" the cups with some foam fillers.....but I would think a seamstress can take it in enough that it won't be a problem!

Thank you! I am going to call the dry cleaners and alteration shops around town tomorrow and see how much it would cost/how long it will take as I am trying not to spend an arm and a leg on alterations and on a time constraint lol

  8. I'm built the same way so I understand your problem. Does the suit have cups that could be taken in like with a dart? Is the suit on Penney's website? We might have more ideas if we can see it.

I'm glad someone understands lol it is not common lol. What do you mean with a dart? Attached is a photo of the swim suit. I was thinking about looking to see if there are waterproof bra enhancers or possibly attach straps if possible.

  9. Hey everyone!

I leave for my cruise in 2 week!!! So excited, but there is one problem. I recently ordered a new swimsuit for the cruise at JCP and I finally got it last week. My problem is that while the rest of the suit fits perfectly, the chest of my one piece is WAY too big. I should probably mention I am a plus size girl with a very small chest. If you know how most plus size clothes fit, they expect you to have a big bust. Does anyone know how to fix this relatively quick and cheap. I also am having this issue with my formal dress, but I think I can fix that with fashion tape. Any ideas?

  10. Taking the kids,(21,19,15,14), on their first cruise, my 4th. We have always had a balcony, this cruise we have an aft oceanview the kids have 2 interiors. Sell me on this smaller ship. Going 12-22 for Xmas. Tell me what not to miss. We have done Magic and Conquest.

Hey I think I might be one of the 4 stowaways ;) Hi mom! Thanks for the trip:)

On elation related note, I know for a fact the ship is getting upgraded in September, but no idea what she's getting. I am super excited and am looking forward to December lol.

  11. We were on the Christmas week cruise. We did have an ice bucket in our room and we never asked for ice, it was just there. I actually saw the cleaning cart in the hall and it had an ice chest full of ice. I supposed it was for filling everyone's bucket in their room.

The MDR food is not like eating at Commander's Palace, but ya'll, with the amount of food they have to push out, I commend their efforts. The lasagna was really really good and so was the "study in sushi" and the mahi-mahi on the last night.

We had fabulous bar service anywhere we went. Orlando was a great trivia host and we had a lot of fun playing. We went to one show, the rock and roll show. It was a bit cheesy (for us), but I did feel it was entertaining. We didn't really do any of the other shows. I prefer karoke (but that's me).

I didn't care for the buffet breakfast, but the omelette bar was pretty good. Coffee was a good blend, not too weak and there was real butter and real cream (half and half), which totally shocked the heck out of me.

We're already booking next year on the Elation again.

We're going on Elation next Christmas and I'm curious, did they do anything special for Christmas? Thanks!

  12. At this point I doubt it. Like EZ4 said the program that included that (Evolutions of Fun) is over. Elation and Paradise got overlooked and it probably stay that way. Carnival has moved on to FunShip 2.0, although I don't know if the Elation is getting 2.0 or not.

Well darn I was hoping that maybe it would. I believe that Elation is getting 2.0 additions I don't know what though

  13. It's a great ship. It was our first cruise. It's smallish, compared to some of carnival's other larger ships but it makes up for it with a good layout and holding less passengers. We've been on a couple larger ships, but they sort of ended up feeling more crowded than larger, if that makes any sense.

Either way, the elation is a great ship, you'll have a great time!

This will be our first family cruise and I think it will be a great ship. Mom and her bf just got off their 4th one and we finally booked one for the 4 kids with mom lol.

Elation is supposed to be dry docked for 2 weeks in September I believe and is getting a few 2.0 upgrades I think/hope :)
