  1. There is a 3 hour time difference between Sydney and Perth but no one really takes any notice of it.

Yeah , but I do. That's why I asked the question. First World issue I know, and ultimately not big deal but I'm East Coast based but have worked a bit in North Aust.

I struggle up there because I'm so used to my normal routine that the 2/3 hours does make a difference . . . to me. I barely need an alarm clock these days but even holidays I wake up exactly the same.

I'm sure I'll cope , just wanted to see if there were any tricks from the experts.

    Thanks for the tips.

  2. Hi All, off on our very first cruise on Radiance in March. Heading over to New Zealand. Question for the experienced cruisers, how does your body clock cope with the time differences ?

There is a 2 hour time difference between Australia and New Zealand. I'm used to getting up of a morning about 6-6.30 which is 8-8.30 NZ Time. Well past mooring time and often past Tour Time. Looks like we need to be out of bed approx. 4.00am Aust Time.

Conversely, we usually eat dinner about 7.00 pm , 9.00pm NZ Time , otherwise eating dinner at "our" 4.00pm in the afternoon.

I'm sure we'll cope and its not that big a deal, but wondering how experienced Cruisers deal with the time difference ?

  3. As above, my thoughts are Sydney to Auckland. New Zealand seems just the right size to cruise around and get to see a whole heap best viewed from a Ship (The Sounds). Any extra time in Auckland use it on the North Island. You will see a heck of a lot more in a few days in New Zealand then you ever will in Australia. You can drive for 3 days and not leave the State. You could Travel for 12 months in Australia and still only cover the basics.

  4. There is so much to see and do as spoken about in Brisbane that I would forget about the Gold Coast. It is a destination to itself that a few hours just does not do it justice. Lone Pine, Australia Zoo , South Bank will more then fill in the Day.

The GBR is a long way out from the Whitsundays. I would suggest seeing the islands and Whitehaven Beach. There is plenty of snorkelling to be done off the islands which is of course part of the reef.

See the GBR at Cairns. Its a lot closer to shore. I believe Green Island is actually considered being on the GBR.

  5. Pretty much every "major" ATM , in the walls and the standalone's in shopping centres etc, are $20 & $50.

Its the privately owned ATM's you find in Pubs, Clubs, Supermarkets etc that have an option to dispense different denominations. While most also use the $50 & $20 its these you will occasionally come across $10.
