We took up the offer of allowing us to cancel at not charge a cruise leaving on 3/13 and have postponed to August... I thought it was a great PR and logistic move by Royal and all cruise lines. 
 

As a young (And thankfully healthy) family we aren’t worried about the virus but we are worried about quarantines, missing ports, and if we are exposed not being able to see the grand parents for weeks and weeks when we get back. 
 

We have a Caribbean cruise in March and I’m really concerned - the upside is a great vacation, the down side is a quarantined ship or WORSE. My wife is a doc and she’s still undecided as to what we should do...

They charge you for each day, so if you know you’re going to get it day 2, get your moneys worth on day 1 since the drinks will be refunded.

This is accurate, in additional to the small inconvenience of having the extra key you need to go to customer service to make the necessary “re arrangement” once on board. Please remember, last time I traveled, all your drinks from day 1 could be refunded if you bought cheers on day 2... so keep that in mind when choosing to wait in line at guest services. 

Agreed, my wife was pregnant and they still wouldn’t exonerate her from the requirement... fortunately we were sailing with another couple so we could re arrange to have me and another drinker “registered” to the same room.

If you happen to be traveling with a group or kids who have their own room you can rearrange the names registered to the room to possibly get around. 

Thank you for all the feedback... we are more concerned about best rate and promotions, with Carnival I always felt like booking directly got us to that goal, but I was not sure if booking directly with Royal would get the same results or if TA get exclusive perks. 

Hello fellow cruisers; we are excited to be sailing outside of Carnival for the first time in March of 2020 and we would love to know if you have any suggestions for the best way to book (directly online, directly over the phone, via an inside agent at Royal that you want to recommend via private message or any other suggestions).

I was considering a 9 day trip on the star in March of 2020. With this information one mind, what would you do? (We are pretty laid back and a change in itinerary won’t make or break our trip).

Some craft beers are 6% to 10% alcohol compared to bud light 4%. Craft doesn’t mean flavored, it means brewed by a smaller company (for lack of boring you with a bigger description). A lot more TLC goes into it. 

Seemed like good thread in which to ask the following:

If my room is a suite but our traveling companions room is not, is there a downside to waiting to enter with them? Are we some how “penalized” for not being ready to board before zone 1?

Came to the same conclusion myself, a real shame since Provo looks amazing!

Could not agree more... all the other stuff may be disgusting but to hear people become nasty with front-line employees who are basically indentured servants is repulsive.

After just getting off the Horizon and writing letters to the cruise director and Christine Duffy (who was sailing with us) I am not surprised by this at all and you should all count yourselves as lucky by this change.

Our return shuttle fiasco in Cagliari was a disaster and a downright dangerous situation. I am happy that this change was made so quickly... it is a shame, as Cagliari was beautiful and we loved the brief visit to Sardinia, but until the necessary steps are taken to ensure a safe shuttle back to the ship this is ABSOLUTELY the right thing to do.

On another site someone was complaining that the water coming into the toilets smelled of urine because it is gray water from sinks and showers, and the urine smell was because people peed in the shower. Any truth to this? Is Chengkp75 around?

That is because the guest must provide documentation. They will require it for boarding.

That is no longer the policy - I have emails and a Facebook response from the official Carnival FB page to confirm it.

However, since the policy changed recently we will bring it out of an abundance of caution.

@TechHoney thank you for your help in this thread and in the one I started.

I know I am not a cruise veteran, but this is the first issue I have experienced with Carnival that has really pissed me off. Weeks ago I was searching for the form, it was removed from the website, and when I called I was told I did not need it.

Then, yesterday speaking with a carnival rep about something unrelated she told asked me if we had sent our form in... Now we are inside of the "deadline" since we are sailing this week. So I called 5 other times and had 3 "yes, you need it" and 2 "no you do not".

Their official Facebook page said "no" as well.

This is so f-Ing (frustrating*) annoying. How can so many people not know the policy.

I also asked to have the form emailed to me and it was not the correct form, just the policy.

Now we will bring the form, fax it in, but if people are not aware of the new policy they may hold the fact that we did not fax this in 14 days prior against us.

I have been told different answers by 6 reps on the 1-800 number that the firm is still required or not required. I messaged Carnival's official Facebook page and they said the form isn't required anymore.

PLEASE NOTE I'm not asking about the policy (we know it's only allowable if you sail before 24 weeks of pregnancy is complete) this is simply whether they are still requiring the form.

in theory yes but watching the scam it was quite easy to beat the system. We watched daily people come in with bands on that were not staying in Havana cabins that they got from their friends who were. If a person who gave their band away was asked where it was they simply showed the card with the sticker. This went on all week. We found the enforcement to be minimal.

The second best one was the 2 couples who bought older bands off E bay Brilliant idea to the seller. Still debating if I am going to sell mine.

I do see Carnival selling Day Passes to Havana in the future. Just like FTTF people will pay a daily premium rate to use the area

 

For us found the experience not as good as Haven on NCL. we will be comparing it to MSC Yacht Club soon
