  1. While technically as an American one doesn't need a passport for an Alaskan cruise, I would get one in the event of an emergency and you had to fly in/out of Canada while on the cruise. This from personal experience from my aunt and uncle who took an alaskan cruise last year when they had to disembark in Victoria due to my aunt needing an emergency surgery. As a result they ended up having to fly home out of Canada back to California and having already having passports made flying home without a hassle much easier. One never knows when the unexpected will happen but best to be prepared and not need a passport than need it and not have it.

Thanks for the ideas i will have fun trying them.  Whats is the Key west cooler?

A Key West Cooler basically has passion fruit juice, cranberry juice, watermelon juice, and lemon-lime soda. Pretty tasty to me.

And there is only one Disney World, all the others are Disneyland.

As far as Magic Kingdom in Florida is concerned, Walt Disney played a huge part in the building of that park.

That is only partly true. Disneyland is the park that Walt built. Walt died on December 15, 1966,  a good 5 years before the Magic Kingdom opened in October 1071. Yes while Walt did much of the planning of the Magic Kingdom it was actually Roy Disney  who oversaw the construction of the Magic Kingdom.

Disneyland Park, originally Disneyland, is the first of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, opened on July 17, 1955. It is the only theme park designed and built to completion under the direct supervision of Walt Disney.

A copy of Disneyland, called the Magic Kingdom, was built approx. two decades later as one of the theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando.

Sorry folks but there will forever be only one original Disneyland and it will always be situated in Anaheim, California.

Hate to disappoint you but the Magic Kingdom wasn't built to be a copy of Disneyland. While I consider Disneyland to be my "home" park, the Magic Kingdom is as beautiful and meaningful in its own way. Comparing the two is like trying to compare apples to oranges. Can't be done.

Right but which ships have smoothies and where do you buy them? The bar? I’ve certainly never seen a smoothie offered on my sailings!

Not sure since I haven't sailed on the Princess line yet. My first cruise with Princess will be on the Ruby next August. I was just taking the info from what the company had out.

I just checked - the price of the premier beverage package shows no change but I believe it was lower earlier this year.

Come to think of it you are right. I think that one and the new grounds coffee packaged didn't change and I skipped right over reading it through.

  7. I didn't realize that so many of the cruise lines sailed that full. Thanks for the info to this cruising newbie. I have a few more questions. While I know Disney will sometimes (sparingly in my mind) have their Florida and military discounts and I've never seen them have promotions or sales, how common is it for the other cruise lines to offer their promotions/deals (ex Princess Cruises current 2 for 1 for Alaska? Pretty much all the time and those deals have a regular schedule they come out? Or it is just a few cruise lines that offer the deals/promotions? And just being curious, how many people would actually cruise WITHOUT the deals and promotions? I would willing do so and was planning on doing so for my upcoming cruise with my parents. But I will admit I did willingly take advantage of a promotion.

  8. A few other things to keep in mind. Disney, at the moment, only has four ships in its fleet compared to other cruise lines which have 10+ ships in their fleets. However Disney will be adding three new ships in the next few years. Disney cruises also consistently sail full (or almost full) on each cruise. How many other cruise lines can say that?
