  1. Amoxicillin is available online through amazon and other sites. You just need to buy the version that is marketed for fish. Same dosage, name and ingredients as what is available by prescription. Tho, it is likely cheaper outside the U.S.

  2. Saint Greg,

Seems like you really have this all figured out! If I may pick your brain. . .

My family (2 adults 3 children) will be flying in to NO on 2/11 for a V-day cruise and we will be needing a hotel this night.

I'm wanting to find the best value including trip cost from airport to hotel, hotel to cruise ship.

We've never cruised out of this port before so all is new to us and I'm unsure what cab fare will run us.

I've glanced at some of your recommended hotels on hotwire and all are pricey for this week.

Was hoping to pay around $200 for hotel and transport. Free breakfast would be a plus as there are 5 of us and that does add up.

    Please advise. Thank you kindly.

  3. Stopping in Cozumel, Belieze and Trujillo on the Jewel.

Anyone know any good seafood places to go that are not to far from any of these ports?

Really wanting fresh crab legs or lobster. Am I correct in assuming you cannot get crab legs on the Jewel?

    TIA

  4. The guide will hold your things while you are getting into the tube, or you can hand them to someone else.

There were no waves when we went last May, camera with a strap would not have gotten wet at that time, not sure how it is during other seasons.

  5. As others have stated, getting into the tube is not difficult. When we went with .bz (who I highly recommend) there was a rope that we held onto while sitting into the tube. Its not like trying to get into one while in a swimming pool because your not in 4 feet of water when you do it, your standing on a "cliff" maybe a foot or two above the water, and use the rope to lower yourself into the tube which is below you.

I'm a fluffy girl and I did it with no issues and no embarrassment. No one in our group had any troubles and we were various sizes and ages.

As to the water temp. that likely varies depending on the time of the year that you cruise.

As I mentioned in another thread going right now, wear shoes with a sole! Not swim shoes, the rocks are tiny and sharp, I felt every one in my swimming shoes.

  6. I have used cavetubing.bz before and it was THE BEST!

Someone from their organization will be waiting for you when you get there.

They have people waiting in the port for most of the day, its not a certain person waiting for certain people, they are a large organization and each group leaves when they have a van full.

We didn't have to wait long at all.

Vans were air conditioned. We didn't have to carry our tubes for the most part.

Wear shoes with a hard bottom! I cannot stress enough how sharp the tiny rocks are.

Even if all you have is old tennis shoes that you don't mind getting wet, swim shoes is not a good idea.

It is a long, peaceful walk, stress free inclines/declines so long as you aren't feeling every rock you step on in your water shoes.

They will have shoes avail for rent (I think its $3 a day)

I'm not crazy about the idea of shared shoes but I wish I would have known in advance so I could have gotten a pair.

All cavetubing excursions in Belieze go to the same area but our group with .bz seemed to be the happiest. Others had to carry their tubes the entire way.

  7. Just a suggestion: maybe try downloading an app on your phone if, like me, you don't know the names of many drinks.

I found plenty that work without using data.

Of course they won't include the price, but its a starting point if you know you want something with strawberries or cherries but don't know the names of anything.

  8. The OP hasn't posted anything as of late so I would assume the issue (if there was one) has been resolved. People are more inclined to take time out of their vacation to complain than to post a simple "all is well."

It is possible they just had a new bartender. If I were new and bombarded on embarkation day with folks wanting their "free" drinks, I'd only be making the ones on the menu that were spelled out for me! I come to this conclusion from the statement of "wouldn't know what to charge"

I also agree with most other posters but no reason to restate what they have said. Whole thing is highly suspicious.

  9. Good to hear I was not the first to experience this unease at the end of a meal.

I believe the waiter on the first night was just wanting to make sure nothing was "wrong".

Thanks to everyone for the replies. This will make things more comfortable during our next cruise.

  10. Just wondering what/when is the best way to leave the table in MDR?

On our first night of our first cruise my husband and I ate then got up to leave before dessert.

Our waiter ran up in a panic asking us what was wrong. This being our first, we didn't realize dessert was coming and this caused an awkward moment for us. Especially with the waiter asking over and over what he had done wrong, weather he was too slow etc etc.

Every night afterward we stayed the entire meal.

( I should mention we did my time dining and always requested a table for two) but leaving was very strange for me. Always kinda felt like I was skipping out on the bill or something by not saying goodbye to the wait staff. Also the spacing is quite tight and it was difficult to maneuver an exit without a guide like the one who seated us on the way in.

So. . . Were we doing it wrong? Should we have waited for dessert dishes to be cleared? Or until we saw the waiter again to thank him?

How and when do you leave a meal? What is the official "end?" We aren't "sit around and talk" people.

  11. Was also here recently and second all that chelle says. It did look like they had some condos in the area. They were still working to expand the beach area some more. I didn't see anyone snorkeling except maybe a few children.

Drink and food prices were very high. And bartenders were reading recipes off their own menus. A lot of alchol in the drinks.

Take bug spray with you if you go. You don't see the bugs, just the bites. Also don't expect to see many pirate costumes. I thought there would be more photo opps.

Overall we felt safe here, had not issues leaving our things on the beach while we swam, but bored quickly and didn't want to pay high prices for the

    Americanized food.

Side note: they actually had a hamburger on the menu for $50! Other meal prices were about $15 per plate.

  12. With cavetubing.bz they carried the tubes almost the entire way for us. We had to carry them about 5 minutes. We had two more "seasoned" people in the group who were slightly slowed by walking with the tubes so our guide carries theirs.

Everyone we saw was wearing life vests and had helmets with lights on them. All tour groups use the same caves. I do suggest walking shoes. Husband and I both wore lake shoes. The walk down is slightly uneven (small river rocks all the way) and so our feet were slightly sore at the end.

This was one of our best parts of the cruise. I would recommend .bz to anyone!

  13. I have done the cave rubbing only with .bz. Got a great guide "Snake Man" for the tubing part. He really knew a lot about the trees, caves etc. of course he could have been making things up and we would be none the wider. Great entertainment tho. And we didn't have to carry our tubes like those who paid more and booked thru cruise lines. Food was great! Would imagine zip lining is great as well.
