  1. We will be doing our 2nd Cruisetour starting May 25 with Princes. There was fly fishing liste on the excursions. It's was nice that we didnt have to drive.  The Princess lodges are beautiful. Do your research and go with what works for you. Either way you will love Alaska

Since our OP has specifically mentioned the husband's interest in fly fishing I don't think that any of the cruise tours offered by any of the lines will offer much opportunities for such a specific activity.

We took the land tour prior to the cruise and it was great. You are fairly busy on the land tour and when you get on the ship you can relax.

For some people, planning your own land tour would be ideal. However, someone has to drive and while the passengers are watching the scenery go by, the driver is watching the road. Everyone can relax when you let other people plan and

Ouch! (coming from a proud Canadian, who lives on the west coast).   I hope you will give us a chance at somepoint to prove you wrong.      I do get that the 4 hr stop in Victoria would not give you a true sample of what we have to offer.

We sailed out of Vancouver our last Alaskan Cruisetour and loved Vancouver. We booked a day early morning flight to be able to enjoy Vancouver for a day. We fly in May 24th and board the ship May 25th. Can't wait ✈🚢

  4. My husband and I are doing an Alaskan cruisetour flying in to Vancouver the day before. When we booked our flight through EZair we would arrive around 3pm. We were planning on sightseeing in the evening but our flight has been changed to a 9pm arrival. No time for sightseeing trying to decide to even go with the testing and the changes in the Denali tour because of road work. This will be our second cruisetour to Alaska and wand the best experience

Looking to book a 14 day cruise and weighing the pros and cons time and price wise comparing 3 different dates.  The most expensive is late June.  Can save 280 pp by booking late May.  560 savings is 560 savings.  Can save another 100 pp by going two weeks earlier.  So, is there that big of a difference between mid May and late May to pay that extra 200 bucks?  200 bucks, or 760 comparing the first and third choices can go towards excursions, which of course there will be many. Thanks.

I've been on both ends of the season and purposely avoid the summer family crowd.  Both bookends have their own charm.

May:  Days are starting to get longer and longer.  Something refreshing about being in Alaska early on.  Weather isn't a factor since it can be hot/cold, sunny/rainy regardless of the month.  Yes, the ice fields may not have broken up yet and you may run the risk of not being able to get into Glacier Bay or up to the glaciers.

September:  The days are definitely shorter.  Shops are starting to close up/think end of season sales (although I never really found anything of value).  There is the slightest of slight chances you may experience Northern lights viewing from Juneau or Skagway.

  6. We will be going on our second cruisetour in May for our 20th anniversary. We didn't see bear catching salmon but on our Denali excursion we seen a momma and her 2 Cubs. We just like all the hours of daylight in May. We had a balcony and used it every day. If you have the extra time a cruise tour is the way to go

    I understand your point.

But I do think Princess is looking for a way to change their bloated program, and I doubt fairness will come into play.

Heck, before sailing restarts soon, thdy could announce that anyone who has not sailed for 12 months will be reset to zero.  Fair or not?

We had 2 cruise cancelled so that would means we would not have sailed for 12 months of no fault of our own.

  8. We loved our balcony on our Alaska cruise, nice to see the beauty then run in and warm up a minute then back out. We are doing a Princess cruise tour starting 5/25/22 and are splurging on a mini suite, since I have Rheumatoid Arthritis we decided I needed the extra comfort, Alaska is sometimes a once-in-a-lifetime cruise and to me a balcony is worth the extra money

when Princess cancelled our Thanksgiving cruise on 7/22/20 ( or so ) the book by/sail by date of

5/1/22 for FCC  'seemed' reasonable - now today, 1/3/21 - not so much

wondering if Princess will do a blanket extension of that due date, or just on a case by case basis, since now all Princess cruises are 'paused' thru 3/31/21

I don't know but when I called Princess extended my dates while I was on the phone.  Took maybe 5 minutes, Gwen sent an email to her boss and it was done, Great service

Having to attend a wedding in Seattle on 7/27 the day the Ruby returns to Seattle we seem to be locked in the 7/20 Ruby (perhaps the most expensive week to cruise in Alaska.)

First time to Alaska for DW and I and debating inside or balcony and saving $1500 by going inside.

What's the consensus do you save and spend time on deck and on excursions or spring for the balcony?

Just found out the wedding venue is north of Seattle so will also look into another departure port/date.

Looking for feedback from experienced Alaska travelers.

    Thanks
