Honestly, this is the first time a NCL buffet has disappointed me so much (aside from the hash browns issue.) On recent cruises this past year on Celebrity and Princess, I kept telling my companions how much better the NCL buffets were.

We were also on this cruise and this is our 14th NCL cruise and we agree the buffet was very disappointing. We also missed the navigation channel as well.

  2. This didn't happen on board but on the NCL private island. It was mid Sept and we were on the Jewel. It was my first time snorkeling and I had gone pretty far out. There were a few other people in the vicinity when I saw a women dressed as a mermaid climb out of the water onto a rock. She took her fin off and stretched out on the rock. I looked around to see if anyone else was seeing this and no one seem to be paying attention. I said to her is this really happening? She looked at me and made the shhh sign with her fingers. She then put her fin back on and got back into the water and swam away. Farther out. I asked other people if they had seen her and no one had or admitted they had. I was not drinking (people always ask me that).

  3. Was onboard last week too, and New Generation was one of the highlights in a sea of well you all have heard the story! Really awesome down to earth guys. Wilbur the singer hung out with us the last night at the Spinnaker. Really great band! Request Hotel California, they do a great version.

  4. I also wrote comments under the Gem Renovation thread. Honestly would never believe it if I wasn't there also. I did have fun in the ports and went on the Jost Van Dyke excursion which was so amazing. The food in the buffet was also good. I have written to NCL, called them and wrote over 20 comment cards regarding the outstanding crew, I defended some after I saw them harassed or intimidated for doing their jobs I praised others for smiling through all this. I even spoke to the HD. Thanks for the great and positive review. Also on a side note this is my 8th cruise and 6 time out of NYC the third week in Jan, and I never ran into this group before now I am scared of going this time next year as this is the week that works the best for my family. Ugh!

  5. I did take pictures but I am not going to post them yet. I have contacted NCL with a phone call and a letter. I had food spit on me by a man yelling at his children with food in his mouth. The same group or family another one spilled a drink on me. I was by the pool because I got up and sat there didn't move from 7am on principle. If either my husband or I left for a second 4-6 teenage girls would jump into the chair. They would argue and not move!! This was my cruise too and at that point I had enough!! I also had a man bend over and hit me in the face with his butt. My husband was there for that one and he let him have it. There are HUNDREDS of other incidents from the crew and other passengers and more from me. I love the crew LOVE them and non of them deserved this as there was an air of anger and just weariness. I also saw increased security and upper management monitoring the situations but nothing was ever done, except to tell the crew that the customer is always right. My question is what about us the other passengers? Why were some of us that don't do the UDP or in Suites left out in the ocean? Not by the crew again they were so full of apologies for so many things. I finally did speak to Sonja more to defend the crew and report some specific horrible abuse to two specific bar staff. Sonja was was also at her wits end. She said that she had never in all her years seen anything like this. I have been on 8 cruises 6 out of NYC this same time but never have we ever experienced the level of craziness. Had I not been on this boat I would never had believed it either.

  6. I had fun in the ports. I avoiding the Grand Pacific and Magenta along with all the shows in the Stardust. To me this behavior was not acceptable. It was embarrassing to watch and heartbreaking sometimes too. I saw just blatant disregard for other passengers, crew members, officers, entertainment staff, security and any and all common areas. I wrote down and took pictures after the third sea day when I had a drink spilled on me and food spit at me by someone yelling with their mouth full! No one apologized or even acknowledged this incident and I was ignored even when i said excuse me to the offender.

  7. It was awful. Worst cruise I have ever been on. Not NCL's fault though. The treatment to the crew was appalling I wrote so many comment cards and spoke directly to Sonja the HD regarding this how badly the crew was treated. I am going to follow this up once I get home.

  8. I have had two cruises with Dan Dan with two different results. The first was (I believe his first try as CD as we heard that he had been assistant CD on the cruise before us) amazing. He was everywhere funny, friendly and really did all the activities. The second a year later he was more reserved and hardly ever around. Still funny moments but he was different. I liked him much better the first year and was super excited when we found out he was again our CD.
