We are sailing Liberty on on dec 30th. Are we able to leave the ship when we want at the end of the cruise if carrying only 1 carry on or does it have to be the early time they offer? Our flight leaves at 7pm and won't get into home until 1 am so I much prefer to sleep until 8 and get as late as possible

If you want to sleep until 8, better make sure to have your do not disturb in and "deadbolt" the door. We didn't do either (had a kid who came in late), and the staff member walked right in at 7 a.m. (after knocking lightly) to check our mini bar. We were in BED and she turned the cabin lights on. I was so shocked. Our cabin steward, Lloyd, knew we were sleeping until 8, because I confirmed with him we could leave our cabin at 9. I'm making a complaint about that, it was totally unreasonable.

I think you can stay on the ship until 11 and then they kick you off. It was freezing in Lauderdale, so we didn't want to stay in the common areas. We were hoping to sit on the pool deck.

Just curious, what employee of Royal said "You should have booked a shore excursion with us, we get you off quicker"?

I didn't get the name. He was not very nice, just standing with a walkie talkie making sure people didn't cut in line (which they still did). I'm assuming he was cruise director staff, he was young and in sporty attire.

Took us an hour and a half to get off the ship. The line wound around all the way up to deck 4 and down the side of the ship. Staff was no where to be seen, until several people started getting really upset. They finally started keeping kids amused (and parents) by trivia. When we asked what the problem was we were told "You should have booked a shore excursion with us, we get you off quicker." Horrible response to someone who wasn't even ABLE to book the excursion we wanted, because they were all sold out.

Just returned from the LOS on a 5-day cruise on 11-23 and all I can say is I have never waited so long to board a cruise! The line was extremely long, not enough check-in people, just utterly miserable.

 

In all my years of cruising I have never had to wait more than 30 minutes to board. Just wanted to warn all those coming through Fort Lauderdale. Ignore the email about not arriving early. I would!

 

Unfortunately, I hate to report that this was just one of the awful things about my cruise. A review will be posted soon.

 

On the bright side, disembarkation was quick and awesome! Park-N-Go had MANY shuttles and I was at my vehicle within 15 minutes after being picked up at the port.

I agree, I was shocked at the boarding process. The disembarkation was easy, though, so I was pleasantly surprised!

We just returned from 5 night cruise on Liberty. We purchased the $55 package. It now includes bottled water, but the staff didn't seem to be notified, because they kept denying my request. Finally, by the 3rd day, they gave me my bottled water without a hassle. They won't give you a bottle of water with a drink though, which was annoying. The one bartender told me to drink the whole bottle of water, before he would give me my beverage. I think he thought I was going to slip someone my water. If that's a problem with people who cruise on that ship, I think I need to go elsewhere.

Bottom line - it was convenient for the water and not signing receipts. But, I drank way too many of the fruity drinks and think it contributed to weight gain :D
