  1. I was on the same TA Reflection. We thought the LAX band was horrible...so off key they grated on my teeth . I have mentioned this on my post cruise survey. As for the DJ, I liked the music he played. A question of taste. But definitely an improvement from the LOUD electro music that usually plays in the Martini bar.

I would like to add that I didn't find the music too loud compared to many other cruises on X. The music in the pool area was softly played. You had to concentrate to really note that that there was sound. Definitely, tame compared with some of our Carribean cruises on X.

  3. Just off the reflection October12th and had select dinning. Only had a wait one night around 8:00 pm for 25 minutes. If you are willing to share a larger table and go before 7:00 pm should be ok.

Thanks for this recent update. It doesn't matter if we are two or more. Just pleased that we won't need to bother with reservations.:)

  4. I love Transatlantics. There are so many Elite. In our last 3, TAs coupons were given out. I don't drink many alcoholic beverages so it was great to come in from the pool and get water and coke. No dress up required

  5. I also understand the great service on Celebrity and the need for gratuities but I do not pay extra gratuities in the Speciality restaurant. The gratuities are part of the cost.

It is not my job as a passenger, to support the low wages. I too work very hard for my wages. Tipping is one thing but extra tips...

  6. We are Elite + so could take advantage of the shorter line but this whole situation is absurd. There is no way that anyone in that line should be seated before every one in the reservation line is handled, subject to reservation time. How would you like it if you made reservations at your local restaurant for a specific time and someone without a reservation strolled in and was seated before you because they had committed to buy a more expensive meal?

Celebrity, we now have reports from 2 M-class ships that this is occurring. They are only unconfirmed reports, but you need to do some investigation and if it IS occurring, you need to make the necessary amendments to the situation. We've got lots of days booked on M-class ships (and will, like always for many years, have reservations booked in Select Dining) and will not be even remotely happy if this continues to happen.

I am Elite+. I have never heard the Elite+ gets into a shorter line for Select Dining. How does that work.?
  7. Hi guys! It's me the original poster. After reading the state dept warnings my husband and I opted to switch to different intinerary. I appreciate all the input. And I admire how some of you defend your views on what is happening in Mexico.

I myself am not so confident that thing will be hunkie dory. So now we are sailing a 10 day cruise in the Caribbean just before Christmas. Same size ship same size suite. And my son's fare is 1/3 of what it was. We will see that part of Mexico one day. Just at this time we feel its better err on the side of caution.

Hats off to you that you made a decision that is right for you and your husband despite the snarky remarks that people have put forward in the guise of being helpful.

  8. That Concierge benefit is only for disembarkation - doesn't apply for tenders for ports of call.

Both the Suite perk and the Concierge perk are for disembarkation at ports, only! Disembarkation at the end of the cruise goes by times that you need to catch transportation home or if you are walking off with luggage.

  9. . I do my own research and trust my instincts. I have been traveling safely throughout Mexico for more then 50 years and living there part-time since 2011. I know where not to go anymore and how to keep myself safe.

absolutely! I agree with you 100 %. Everyone should gather their information and make their own decisions accordingly.

  10. I think DMK is correct when she says each person will make a decision for themselves. I don't think people can blow off an advisory like the one above. Some feel the situation is exaggerated others do not. Get all the information you can and make your own decision.

  11. Well, perhaps you have gone a bit too far :). There are very few cruises going to Acapulco in the next year...and for good cause. That being said, we live in PV for 2 months a year, absolutely love the place, and are looking forward to our return for the next winter season. I am not going to go into all the politics involved in the recent cartel "muscle flexing" other then to say that it has caused neither DW or myself any concern about our future return to PV. But trying to convince others of the charm and safety of PV is just not worth the hassle so we return to paradise year after year and feel a little sorry for those who stay away. Suffice it to say that we have traveled extensively all over the world (about 100 countries) and feel safer in PV then even home. Come to think of it PV is home when we are in residence :)

    Hank

We usually spend a month in PV? We too love it. It truly is a paradise. But I can't say that I'm not concerned after reading chipmaster's post.. Wow! The Jewel skipped there stop in PV!

  12. I really don't think that anyone is missing anything special at Michael's club. It was offered to high ranking Elites instead of the sky lounge when there were a great deal of Elites on board. This was before the voucher system. It's just another bar.

I too, can not see anything special about Michael's Club except the hours. Before when it was for certain Elite, there was breakfast and pre dinner cocktails minus the tapas. On the S Class ships. It's a very small bar. I liked it more on the M Class ships.

  13. We no longer see cruising as a good value, so after the two B2Bs we have scheduled later this year, we're probably done. We loved cruising before the cutbacks, cheapening of the product, and nickel and diming took over. We weren't given the option of paying more to keep status quo, just a product that we can't support. We survived 50 years without cruising before we started so we'll survive the next 50 without it.

    i

Totally agree with you. After 15 years of cruising twice a year, we will pack it after a transatlantic booking, which I find is the only cruise itinerary that still holds value.

  14. Glad that it worked on your last 3 cruises. Usually works for me, but not always and I know most of the RMs and F&B managers. The table I had reserved for 6:30pm on Reflection was occupied by others on my last Reflection cruise.I was the "top cruiser" on that cruise and that made no differene.Same thing happened on SIL last year. This year was on SIL 3 times (one more this Sunday) and no problems getting the same table with same waiter every evening, but told to get there by 6:15pm. I guess I could say that reservations work until they don't.

I am so sorry for your unfortunate circumstances in the MDR. I, myself, have never had a problem with reservations in Select dining even though I do not know most RM's and F&B managers.
