  1. Speaking of the water slides, (not trying to hijack the thread but figured my questions would be better here) are you allowed to go down with your child the way they portray it in the Carnival commercial? My daughter is 7 and won't go down by herself. Also, how deep are the pools at the end of the slides?

  2. When and how do you put these on your bags? I've printed mine out at home. We're flying into Miami the night before our cruise and staying at a hotel. Do we put them on at the hotel right before we board or do they typically go on before the flight? Do you just fold them and staple them? Is that it?

  3. We have the same issue and ended up buying a water/sand-proof camera from Amazon. I can only see bad things happening by taking camera gear worth over 1000 dollars to a beach in a foreign country. Either damage or theft. We're still bringing out SLR, just not to the beach on the excursions.

  4. In some ports you do not pull up to a dock. The ship anchors out at sea (relatively close to the shore) and a smaller boat (called a tender) takes passengers from the Cruise boat to the shore, and from the shore to the Cruise boat. Since tenders are small, there may be lines to wait for the tender. If you have FTTF or are a Platinum or Gold member you do not have to wait in the line.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the info!

  5. You get priority boarding, but none of the other perks such as early tenders, etc.

What are early tenders? Going on my first cruise in April and i'm still learning all about how everything works. I did purchase FTTF so i'm curious now.

  6. For me the cheers program was a no go because the majority of my drinks consists of beer. For me days at sea just relaxing over the period of time you can consume 15 drinks and after that no more.

So my experience with it is not worth it.

So you're saying that 15 drinks wasn't enough? I'm confused lol

  7. I'm just curious what happens when the airline loses your luggage. I've had it happen to me on a flight home, thankfully. I didn't get it until 10 PM the next day. How do they get your luggage to you if you're at sea? Do they even attempt to get it to your first stop? I would imagine the airline would be on the hook for the costs of getting it to you?

  8. Skip the ship excursion and do it on your own.....Book a room at Comfort Suites Paradise Island which has a facilities share agreement with Atlantis. Check into your room at the desk, get your braclets (4 passes) and immediately check out of your room. The front desk staff there no exactly what you are doing. Walk across the street to Atlantis and have fun. We did it for about $220 or $55 per person and a huge savings.....plus cab fare of about $10 each way....

What time do they let you check in? Most hotels don't let you check in until the afternoon, right?

  9. I'm just wondering what people normally do with this. I've heard that most people leave them in the safe on the boat. My question is, why? What if something happens, someone gets hurt or has a medical emergency? Why even bring a passport on a closed loop cruise if you're just going to leave it on the boat when you're in a different country? Are people worried about losing them? Trying to wrap my head around why someone would leave it behind.

  10. Hi there! My wife and our daughter will be going on our first cruise this April. We'll be sailing with Carnival on the Breeze to Nassau Bahamas, Ocho Rios Jamaica and Grand Turk.

I know about the manditory gratuities of 11.50 per day, per person that gets put onto our sail and sign account but what about other unforeseen fees or charges? I'm aware that the alcohol and soft drinks aren't free. What does a typical domestic beer go for? How bout a glass of wine? Does room service cost anything extra? How about food, is it ALL free, ALL the time? Is there a difference between the buffet and MDR, cost-wise?

I see the ship has a steakhouse, a burger shop, sushi bar and other eateries. I can't imagine these are all free. How can I find out which ones ARE free and for the ones that aren't, prices on how much they cost?

I see the internet is extra but is it even worth it? Is it fast enough to say, stream Netflix? How about cell phone service? Carnival's website says that cellular service is available on the ship and that international roaming rates will apply. We use Verizon Wireless. Any idea of how much it would cost to make a quick phone call or texts to a friend to find out how our pets are doing at home?

Who, how much and how often to you tip the staff with cash? Are there any "gotchas" that we should know about? Is it recommended to not use a credit card and use cash only when off the boat on an excursion?

    Thanks!
