  1. For the first time, I will be using/booking specialty dining restaurants. Tomorrow, I can book dining and entertainment. I'm sure it all fills up fast. Any tips on the order in which I should book them...ie...grab dining first or grab shows first? Can I also book into the complimentary restaurants or are they mostly walk-ins? Can I book the same show more than once? Thanks.

Think of the reservation like you would when you call up a land-based restaurant. They don't need to know the particulars of your fellow diners, only a head count. What matters (in terms of booking numbers) is when it comes to paying for your dinner. At that point, your companions will need to use their specialty dining allowance or pay out of pocket.

Perfect! Thanks for taking the time to answer!

  3. Hubby and I have only ever cruised alone and typically have always found the buffet and main dining hall sufficient for us, so we've never booked a specialty restaurant. NCL cruise in Nov, we will be traveling with B-I-L and S-I-L, who booked on their own. This Friday, we can book our specialty dining choices. Can I go in and book so that I get a table of four for us? Do I need to add their booking number to the booking someway? TIA

  4. Sorry if this is a duplicate but I can't find clear confirmation on this question....(Ive searched the Terms and Conditions and I find it unclear also). I hope it's ok to post $$$ here because I feel it helps me explain better. (Note the amounts may differ from yours because I'm in Canadian dollars). Booked a 15 Day Caribbean on Getaway through a travel agent. Took the Free at Sea package (numbers posted do not reflect the air portion). I'm trying to figure out if these quotes are correct:

$3823.67 pp (balcony room with Free at Sea perks)

$3345.74 pp (same balcony room NO perks)

$477.93 pp is the difference....so this is what we are paying for all the Free at Sea perks except air

My travel agent has just emailed me to say she was speaking with NCL today and they indicated that on top of the Sea for Free cost, the $477.93, we additionally  have to pay a 20% gratuity on the drinks and dining part of the Sea at Free package. She advised it looks like this:

$445.50 pp gratuities on the drink portion of Free at Sea

$32.43 pp gratuities for 2(per person) specialty dining portion of Free at Sea

    $477.93 pp total gratuities.

Making our Free at Sea cost an additional $955.86 per person. Does this seem correct to you? I find it very odd that the gratuity cost is the same amount as the whole Free at Sea package costs. My travel agent is very experienced...been in the business a long time. I spoke to her about it and she seems to think that it is correct, although she did say she spoke to several NCL agents this week and many didn't seem to truly know what she was asking them....I'm going to phone NCL myself tomorrow but thought I'd reach out to you fine folks.....appreciate your feedback.

***Has anyone ever seen a breakdown of the Free at Sea items?

  5. We have booked the above cruise, although we have not paid final payt yet. We have two couples joining us who have never cruised before. We were excited to take them on some of the fantastic shore excursions we've taken on the different islands. I'm extremely disappointed, with what seems to be a lack of excursions on some of the islands.....although, it is the first time we have seen ports where you arrive at 2pm and 3pm. Can anyone confirm if in fact there are way fewer excursions than pre-Covid? as an example, on this cruise, there doesn't appear to be any excursions for St. Lucia, St. Thomas or Aruba. I really hope I'm missing something or I will be cancelling this cruise. Thx for your time.
