It will be quite some time before anyone knows for sure. There isn't another refurb of an S class ship until Silhouette is scheduled nearly 7 months from now. Presumably, the two week Jan 31 cruise that was canceled would free up sufficient time to get the ship to and from Spain. Celebrity likely won't release any details at all and anything else is pure speculation.

I sure hope they rethink the outdoor furniture on the balconies.  The smaller ship Summit got some stark looking uncomfortable chairs for outside.  I purposely booked a sky suite so I can enjoy the aft balcony and I would hate to think the chairs are not really suitable for enjoying the balcony... of course we have no idea but I would be happy with what was there instead of wrecking the purpose of wanting a balcony in the first place.  Anyone have any information to alleviate my fears!  TIA

  2. We haven't cruised since 2012. Getting ready to book on the Summit over Thanksgiving... Here is my question:
What would be better C1 aft 9201 or Aqua Class 1136 or 1139 but I think there is no overhang balcony here. Aqua is only $200 more person for entire cruise. I need opinions...Go!

  3. I have been trying for months to obtain a room on priceline for our four Jan 2008 precruise nights. Because I have been trying so long last night I just threw in some numbers without even using free bids:o and I was successful in getting a room (paying too much) but at least it has a beach  of sorts and a pool.

With taxes we got the room for 157/night. I did have a back up of Hampton at 130/night plus 9% tax (booked Jan 2007) so it looks like we aren't paying much more for a room. I am disappointed because we got Caribe in Jan 2006 for $65 on priceline. This just shows prices are up and Caribe is getting better reviews now and so demand is better. In 2006 it got bad reviews as well. On the positive side we plan on walking over to Caribe and checking out the hammocks:D

Anyone out there who has recently stayed here have anything good to say about the Normandie???

  4. Bids of $65, $70, and $75 all rejected for resort level in San Juan on Priceline for August 11th. Anyone have any luck for August dates yet? Am I simply too late?

No I think you might be too early. Have a back up hotel in the event you are not lucky and keep trying even up to one to two weeks before you go...that is what has worked for me in the past. Good Luck

  5. Well, I am looking for something kind of special... my preference would be Caribe Hilton or Marriott Stellaris... looking for a great big pool... and close proximity to american food... I haven't heard very good things about the Caniero group of inns, have you been there, and if so, how was it?

My point was that in the event you are not successful you have a back up even if it isn't up to your expectations.... What happens if you cant get a room on priceline for your timeframes???? Many places have a two night minimum... Sometimes you just won't be lucky--maybe you will. IF you make a reservation you at least have a room

Hampton has a nice pool but it is noisy because it is close to airport....

If you are looking for something kind of special then you have to be prepared to pay for it! El Covento is a special place but pricey.... my choices might not work for you. I was just trying to give you inexpensive, reasonable, clean back ups....everyone has their own opinions... from what you have indicated it may be more difficult for you to find something that will be satifactory.

    Good Luck

  6. I am totally getting ready to give up on Priceline... I keep getting my bids rejected (up to 140/night) and the hotel prices have gone up at least once in the past week.... How long is too long to wait before falling back on something?

When using priceline I always have in reserve a hotel room that allows cancellation at the very last minute.

I am not sure when you are planning on traveling but in my experience even two weeks before you plan on staying is not too late. The hotel may not have released any additional rooms recently and will wait until the last minute to do so.. So keep trying but always have a room reserved somewhere as a back up... did you try the Hampton inn in SJ? What about el cannario by the sea??

  7. The booze debate...Please don't bother responding if you are anti-booze smuggling or anti-alcohol... When I see people respond to this topic from up on their high-morality pedestal, the only thing that comes to my mind is "why do you bother reading posts about something you are not interested in and are so against?" The only answer to that question that I can come up with is that people who feel the need to feel morally superior on the booze question are probably in need of a good stiff one anyway...

With that out of the way... here is what I want to know:

we are planning to take some booze onboard our next cruise... we will still purchase a few drinks onboard.

    So my questions are...

    1. We are flying into port... do we pack it in checked luggage? Can you pack alcohol in a suitcase to board a plane? Or should we purchase once we land and on our way to port.

    2. We are sailing Mariner out of Port Canaveral... any problems with putting it in our checked luggage?

    3. If we decide to go the route of a gift basket company, which one is best and most likely to be able to deliver hard liquor (a little rum is all I'm asking for here) to our cabin?

We have had great success with this product.. http://www.rumrunnerflasks.com/ just put in ziploc and wrap in bubble wrap...

When are you traveling the mariner??? we are going in Jan
