  1. Share has been around for awhile now and we have gone several times and love it - Crown grill on the other hand we find just average at best ... met several people on our Star 12 day Alaska Cruise last week that also said they loved it and wished they would continue the roll out ... to each their own :-)

  2. We do it every cruise because it’s part of our cruise experience - and come on now ... you paid thousands for the cruise and you can’t spring for the extra money it costs to eat at a specialty restaurant and enjoy a new experience [emoji41]

  3. We just got off the Ruby and loved our dinner at Share and would definitely go again - we sat at a beautiful table (not stools - I actually don't remember seeing tables with stools). The room is almost all windows with a great view of the ocean off the back deck. I sure hope they keep this dinning room open !!!

  4. We sailed her through the canal in October - loved the ship - one of the best cruises we have been on. Don't care about the changes - plenty of room for everyone, never waited for a pool chair at any time of the day.

  5. Interesting - we are sailing on the Island Princess on Oct. 2nd 2016 and we got a notice from Princess (email) that we were now in a "Club Class" mini-suite - listing all the new perks. Doesn't seem to coincide with the activation dates that are posted on this message. Maybe it's a "test it out" sort of thing :-)

  6. On the Regal/ Royal the buffet is much better then the MDR. The Regal has the worst MDR experience in all our cruises on ant line. So the last time we ate in the buffet and it was much better.

To each their own - our group loved the main dinning room - great service and good food. We thought the buffet was OK but, well - it was a buffet :-)

  7. I'm 90 minutes fro SFO. I've been many many times and have always had a great time.

As someone already said, it depends on what you want to do. There is more than 3 days worth of stuff to do in the city where you would not need a car. You can take the cable car, MUNI or a cab/Uber just about anywhere. Parking is a pain and somewhat expensive.

Fisherman's wharf and the Embarcadero is a day.

The trip to Alcatraz is 3/4 of a day.

Golden gate park can be two days, but a day is good.

The Walt Disney family museum in the Presidio is awesome. You'll need at least 4 hours there.

Union Square for shopping is fun. There's another half day at least.

If you want to check out the Haight Asbury neighborhood, that's another few hours.

You can walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, 2 miles each way.

You can take an Uber to Sausalito for another half day trip.

Agree - my son lives in San Francisco and we visit whenever we can - no need for a car - you can walk or take a cab to anyplace you would want to go and three days will just scratch the surface of San Francisco - great restaurants and sites. You will be in one of the countries best cities - I bet you will enjoy it as much as you enjoy your cruise ...

  8. I think the poster is asking a legit question for a legit reason. 5 day cruises (or shorter for that matter) are quite different than 7' date=' 9,10, 12, + day cruises. They are intended as an introduction to attract first time cruisers. The demographic is often very different. Part of what drives that is the lower price point (fewer days, lower price). The experience will be different because the crowd will be different. Also, certain other "normal" activities/etc. aren't offered because of the condensed time.

If you're looking for a quick getaway and are willing to put up with more novice cruisers and/or a slightly more rowdy atmosphere - great. I would not use this as a way to judge the line versus longer cruises. better to do an apples to apples there. Princess is really at it's best on the longer overseas cruises.[/quote']

Totally agree - stop beating up the OP - it was a legit question. We live in San Pedro and take these short cruises now and then - they are fun but not the same as the longer ones - just go and make your own fun :-)

  9. Just got off the Crown - brought on six bottles over the two no charge bottles (8 total) - paid the 15 for each bottle over the two ($90 total) They put stickers on them and those were the ones we took to the main dining room and crown grill - they never charged us any corkage on those bottles. This is great on Princess - we get to drink wine we really like at a minimal charge.

  10. you monday morning quarterback's should stick to second guessing the panther's playcalling.

You have no idea what information the ship had on this system.

Believe it or not- some storms are unavoidable. Also, sometimes conditions change. Sometimes it is for the better, and sometimes they deteriorate. If they were given information about the storm and it predicted 50 knot winds and they intensified, that is not the fault of the captain.

Sure- you may be d+members or whatever but you're not a master mariner with years at sea nor do you have the same information they had.

Before you call for the captain to walk the plank perhaps you should know all the facts.

    very well said ...
