  1. We plan to rent a car in Leknes from Avis car rental. The address given is Lufthavnveien 30, 8370 Leknes. I need to know how far it is from the port and do we need to take a taxi to the place.

We also plan to drive to the village of Reine with a stop at Nusfjord. Is there any thing we must see on the way.

Can we do Henningsvaer too and be back in time. Ship leaves at 6 pm

    Thank you

We were there last week and rented from Europcar. We had the car delivered to the port and dropped it off there as well- for an additional fee of course. (Approx $30 I think)

Avis has that option as well as someone mentioned it in a previous post and we saw Avis cars there.

We docked at 6 and had to tender. We arrived at the port a little before 8 and had to wait for the people from the car company. We were on our way by 8:30.

We drove all the way to the village of A and wandered our way back. We had to be back by 4:30 and had time to do what we wanted.

The key is to get out and going and go out as far as you want and work your way back to avoid the traffic and your busses. There are a couple of 1 lane bridges and on our way back passed quite a line up of traffic headed the other way. (thank you to previous posters for this advice!)

  2. Juneau, Alaska

Shortly after docking, the locals came by to check out the new ship

Wow!! Amazing pictures! So beautiful! Did you take those with your phone?

Thanks for the trip report - Bliss isn't on my horizon and have been to Alaska a couple of times but I am so enjoying the info and photos! Thank you for taking the time to share

  3. The bus is a bit easier. If you take the tube, you will need to change trains at Hammersmith and handle your own luggage, on the coach, you will be able to see where you are going, the driver will stow your bags and you are guaranteed a seat.

Travelling with luggage - No contest in my view.

Bob++ - are you referring to a specific bus?

  4. I was looking at the glass bottom boat and snorkel excursions in Bermuda on the Dawn on a Tuesday which is the day we depart from Bermuda.

Site says tour is 4 hours and leaves at 1:30.

However the ship is listed as sailing at 5:30.

Which piece of info is incorrect??

  5. We were in St Thomas last week on the Glory and did the helmet dive at Coral World. I love to snorkel and prefer from the beach because i wear glasses so i like the shallow water. I love the helmet dive! More expensive option but amazing amount of fish and coral all so close up and with my glasses on. Coral world is somewhat attached to Coki beach and we could see that the beach was quite crowded by the time we were done with our "dive"

I have also been to Trunk Bay (via a ship excursion as i went by myself) and really enjoyed the snorkeling there . It was not very crowded the day i was there (in Feb2012) but i don't recall how many ships were in port that day

  6. We were just there last week on the Glory and you had to wait until you arrived on half Moon Cay to rent the clamshell ($25 for the day) - this actually saved me $25 bc we didn't end up needing it. We just moved a couple of chairs into the shade.

They are located all along the beach - not just in one section

We were down at the end of the beach near the tenders and snorkel area and there were plenty even arriving on a later tender

  7. I haven't stayed there but we parked for our last cruise (I'm local and they had a good rate for the company I work for) however it is a LONG way from the port - about a $30 cab ride

We decided not to wait for the shuttle to the port and I don't think they had a shuttle back

Nice hotel - near the airport - not near south beach
