1. what great timing!!

JUST came off Sapphire, with my recent 3yo! with same issues.

    (also have 8yo)

what we did -- made him go potty at dropoff, we also put him in pullup just in case,

and every couple hrs my DH would go check on him, and make him go potty again.

    Yes u get a pager.

we did not advertise he was in a PU.

once he did go #2, and they paged us ;( hes very stubborn for that, on land.

Yes rails on the bunk beds, he had no problems sleeping/not falling out at all.

any qs pls let me know.

i did not leave him for on shore, so i dont know -

i dont think they could reach u.

My DD stayed in kids club while we went to land, and i got no pagers or anything.

You just know they will take your child to dr if something happens, and thats really all u can do.

  2. reply to buffet question:

preface that my DH adn DD just had it. and DH is obsessive with hand washing. so we duno how he got it.

    but:

we ate at the buffet bkfast/lunch/most dinners,

2 of us did not get sick, and my extended family also did not get sick (5 additional people).

    so dont freak out.

    wash hands.

    use common sense.

Do not take elevators/or wash hands after. do not touch your face.

    Just be aware.

Go to lunch as soon as it opens -- thus less pple touch everything.

use gels when u can't wash hands.

both my DH/DD had severe stomach cramps for 2 hrs before something starting blowing. and i mean blowing , in both directions....

but after that they were fine, stayed in room 24 hrs, watch tv, take it easy on food, sleep. :)

  3. I've never seen it in little bottles. Also, the last time I bought some and flew home, I just put it in my checked luggage and Customs let me count it as "duty free alcohol". I don't know why??? LOL...

But in any case, if it doesn't work out to buy some while you are there (the purser's office should be able to tell you if you will be able to take it home) you can buy it locally in the US, in any Mexican bodega.

what store do u buy vanilla at? i'd be curious to get some.

and also i want to find the RUssian store! thats really neat.

  4. i would bring basically puppy pads, absorbent pads that u can put under or over sheet. then throw away. dont worry too much, im sure theyve seen it all. i'm goin with my fresh 3yo. so im sure it will be much the same, my older DD is ok now :) lol. i used to buy the bigger kid undie type diapers. and cut off liquids right after dinner, etc.

  5. When cruising I turn my cell data off on my iphone.

This is where you can rack up charges, for me text are .50 each and calls are $2.49 per minute.

I still send and receive texts when the cell data is off.

Incoming text are free for me.

hi im sorry can i ask a qs.

if when cell data is off, you said you can still send and receive, but its 50c each? - i guess for send only, since receive was free, on your carrier.. ?

i've never tried the cell data off.

  6.
You *can* do this. However technically it is against the rules.

Juice is free at breakfast. You can also get lemonade for free in the buffet and (I believe) the dining rooms all day. Iced Tea is also available for free.

There is a fridge in your room. Sometimes we will fill up water bottles with juice at breakfast time and then leave them in our fridge all day, to enjoy when we please.
thanks :) we'll make it . lemonade is fine too. and Milk is avail anytime, too.
  7.
Why not save even more money and just ask a rando to get you some juice with their card? Or nominate 1 person per voyage to buy the card and get juice for the other 3000 passengers?
ooh good idea! ;)
  8. There's a charge for juice outside of breakfast hours. But you could order enough at breakfast and keep some in your cabin refrigerator for later in the day. Milk is always available at no charge.

ya thats my plan for now. thank you :) and also bring my own.

MDR charges then, thats what i guessed (at dinner)

  9. It's been awhile since we were on the Sapphire Princess with children in the youngest age group, but at that time, they told us that they do NOT take the kids out to the splash pool. It is for parents to come *with* their children and use. Since it is a separated area, it does not interfere with the rest of the children's activities. They would NOT let children use it without parent supervision.

Most of the time, it went unused. My kids used it once, with me there. That might be the only time I have seen it used.

oh thank you. im glad they dont take them.

  10. this is a fun game.

SO just so happens my friend was going LA - Hawaii, no passport - last month...

they denied her entry and her small child.

it was a 2 wk cruise and no crying, or government issued IDs or birth certs let her on.

You will travel thru international waters, and i HIGHLY RECC YOU GET YOUR PASSPORT !!

its good for 10 yrs, and makes your life forever easier.

and its not that long turnaround now. 4-6 wks.

  11. im sorry, how would they know ur sharing a card? do they only allow 1 drink at a time? can't u return 10 min later, get something else :)

im going with 2 kids, while i don't need Soda, i do want juice access, and already paying $8x7 = $56 for just JUICE is ridiculous, and 2 kids == $112, where other lines incl. it. Nor do i want to bring on a costco size pallet of juice with me ;)

  12. Parents aren't usually in attendance for the 3 and up crowd. It's drop and go. Princess allows children under 3 in the Pelicans room if they are under constant parental supervision.

yes i meant that as , yes, parents are not in attendance. i know that and thats why the orig post didnt make sense to me. both mine are drop n go age :) -- someone said in the kids club pool, parents do have to watch, which didnt make sense...

thanks for the reports about how other kids liked the kids club, does help.

  13. IIRC, kids can only use that pool with parents in attendance. And even though it is just a glorified wading pool, kids still have to be potty trained to use it (no swim diapers).

parents won't be in attendance in the Kids club.. ??

yes i know re: no diapers/potty training.

  14. I have a question too, maybe someone can answer, -- we are going in 2.5 weeks, MAJPLO or anyone, i can specifically check something for you when I go?

I wanted to know why is there a pool in the kids center? is it shallow? both my kids had near drownings (like from bottom of pool....not mine), so i'm extremely cautious of it now... Thanks!

  15. We sailed on Crown last February to the Caribbean, my hubby wore shirt and tie and NO jacket. No problem. Same with his brothers. Please don't lynch me, but I have never packed him a jacket on our 4 cruises, Disney, Holland and Princess. There just isn't room with all that snorkel gear ;)

    Thanks for your post! :)

i also want to add, we do not wear jeans.

and i might get flamed, but it seems the younger crowd (< 30-35) seems to not go as formal as older couples, which is fine, and that may be tied to little kids :o

I don't mean disrespect, and my DH wears suits/ties to work daily, so for him a vacation means more relaxing then forcing him to wear a tux to dinner.. so its nice there are options for everyone.

  16. The young kids do not have to be dressed in formal wear. Just neat and clean clothes will be fine for them.

LOL, No i know that :) but one of my kids is a barfer, and for me as a woman to do hair/makeup/etc is a full hour. then sit thru a 2 hr dinner.. so its not worth it at all, plus keeping the said "clean kids" clean :) hehe.

on previous trips, we would do it, if kids went to kids club. but seems on this ship there may be few children.

    That's age discrimination :D

Brandon, a couple options (#1 would be dress shirt/tie, and i think you'll be fine.

#2 - I don't know where you live, but you can go to a Marshalls/Ross/even Kohls, buy a jacket, inexpensive, heck if u keep it clean, u can return it, also.. ;) Nordstrom Rack is a good choice too..

but we'll be with the option #1.
