  1. I have not picked a location. However, I believe the Wedding planner has a contract with The Mandarin Hotel at Elbow Beach. Hopefully it will be there. Upon location the resort seem kind of nice as they have their own private beach location.

I've ordered my saved the dates on Tuesday actually. The website is also listed on the save the dates.

I have created my wedding website if you would like to take a look:

I planned for the 2nd day to give myself as well as my guest time to be able to actually enjoy Bermuda. Also to prepare and go over things while I am there.

I am using a travel agent. She already reserved a block of 16 cabins for guest and each cabin will receive a $50 on board credit. I also think for each 8Th person one goes free. There is also an hour cocktail party included.

I also thought that the prices will drop. But what if they don't because 2014 prices are about the same as 2015. I also wanted to give family and friends the option of a payment plan soo more than a year in advance should be sufficient. Hopefully I will get the save the date back to mail them off by the second week in April.

Thanks for the info! Your wedding website is really nice as well - thanks for sharing!! I will keep you posted as we finalize plans as well.

Are you planning on having your ceremony on the beach? And then just going back on the ship for dinner? Are you having the dinner in the main dining room that's included in the cruise price?

I'd like to the ceremony on the beach and then have a cocktail reception on the island if possible and if the prices are reasonable, followed by dinner back on the ship and then perhaps just hitting up the dance club for some dancing fun!

  2. Thanks for the info!

Are you thinking of doing the wedding the 1st or 2nd day in Bermuda? Have you picked a beach location yet?

Have you told your guests you'll be inviting yet / sent out save the dates? I want to do save the dates soon.. but I also realize the price of the cruise will likely drop even further as we get closer. So although the price shows around $800/person now (before taxes/fees), it will likely drop by this time next year and I want everyone to get the best deal possible!

Lastly, are you doing the booking through NCL or a travel agent? I guess if you book with NCL you get "amenity dolalrs" based on the numbers of cabins in booking to use towards happy hours, specialty dining, etc.

  3. Hi there! I am also thinking of a beach wedding through the Norwegian Breakaway!

vkasza - have you chosen a wedding planner or made any plans yet?

green_eyed_lady - thanks for the great tips!

We are thinking of Aug/Sept 2015 since the cruise price drops significantly compared to June/July. We have never cruised NCL or been to Bermuda, so we are going to cruise on the Breakaway this May to check everything out and hopefully check out potential wedding ceremony resort(s) while there. We also would like to book through the island vs. NCL to save money. I still would like photos on the ship before the ceremony, so hopefully NCL could cover that and then we could get a photographer/videographer on the island.

We also would like to do the ceremony on the beach, followed by pictures and a cocktail reception with apps and music... followed by dinner back on the ship!

I appreciate any helpful suggestions, tips, insights, things to consider about a Bermuda wedding!!

  4. Hi Purnell Babe - I am also looking into booking the Norwegian Breakaway out of NYC for a wedding cruise Aug/Sept 2015. We love to cruise and loved the idea of a cruise wedding, but wanted to choose a cruise that guests could drive to (we are from PA). We've never cruised Norwegian or went to Bermuda, so we actually are going to do the same cruise this May to do research and check it all out!

I am in the early stages of planning and it looks like the best route is to book the wedding with an island planner, but I also have concerns about weather in Aug/Sept. However, the price of the cruise in June/July is just too expensive to ask our guests to pay!

And we would just use Norwegian for group info as well (i.e. cabin perks and so forth). I'd like to get wedding pics on the ship before we head to island, so thinking perhaps NCL could do our pics on the ship and then hire a photographer/videographer on island... not sure if NCL photographer would come with us on shore (and if their price would be realistic).

What do you and your fiance envision for wedding? Are you also looking into an island planner?

  5. I'm so glad I could help you out! (but if you do happen to have a huge problem with your wedding...shhh I didn't give you the ammo to make your mind up :D)

Your wedding will be great! you have so many more options with a shoreside wedding then one on the ship. I'm not going to lie, you can make this really stressful on yourself too; so just take it easy and attempt to enjoy every moment.

Since January I have had many highs and many lows, but all of this could happen with a normal stateside wedding. I'm not going to blame on my choice of a destination wedding. Don't take the same road as me and decide to handmake EVERYTHING! I am right now finishing my bouquets and in the middle of making my boarding pass invitations (including making my own envelopes to fit these things!) But I am having fun now and will be proud of myself when I look back and say I did it my way. and believe me, my fiancée can back this, this whole wedding is being done MY way. I don't do cookie cutter :D

Have a blast! I will be keeping an eye out for your progress and of course (hopeful) review with lots of pictures!

Hi! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

Are you planning on getting pictures on the ship in your wedding attire w/ husband? Do you think the cruise line will give a hard time since you hadn't booked your ceremony/reception with them? That is what I am nervous about! Can't decide whether to book onshore wedding with Carnival or directly through the island!

  6. I'm in the early stages of planning a wedding for February or March 2014. I plan on getting married while in the port of St Thomas and am considering using Island Bliss Weddings to coordinate the Wedding. I would, however, like to have a later reception on the boat once it leaves port. Has anyone booked only the reception with Carnival or do they even allow it? If you have, what did they give you for options? I have emailed Carnival and still have had no response. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there - Is there a reason why you booked the ceremony directly through the island vs. going through Carnival? I'd also like to do the ceremony on an island.. but wasn't sure wherther to book through Carnival or even how to go about booking directly through someone! Are you going to have a reception back on board the ship? Did Carnival give any issues for not doing ceremony with them, but doing the reception? Thank you!!

  7. Hi there! My fiance and I got engaged on a Carnival cruise last year and are beginning to think about having a cruise wedding! We love to cruise! These forums are very helpful and I wanted to see if anyone had any good insight on a few questions:

    - For those of you who have chosen to do a beach ceremony vs. having it on the ship... have you booked that directly through the cruise line's package? Or do you book directly through the island? I'm not sure if it would be more cost effective to book direct.. but then I'm wondering if the ship would give a hard time about getting wedding pictures on the ship, etc. It looks like the cruise line picks the beach ceremony location if you book through them.

    - Does anyone recommend an island for the beach ceremony - specifically one that has less requirements (i.e. residency for XX many hours since we will be arriving via cruise ship)? Or has anyone been really pleased their ceremony location?

Our initial thoughts are to do a beach ceremony and then have a reception back on board.

    Thank you!! :)
